I also was wondering why the color in my fingernails is changing? They have gone to normal to a red/purple/blue half moon shape on the bottom. Hope someone can offer some suggestions. Thank you.
I have a small (maybe the length of my fingernail), half moon shaped white mark on the finger pad (tip) of my index finger. The mark is deep under the skin, with nothing bubbling up on the surface (yet). I have never had herpetic whitlow, but I have had several cold sores lately and am scared that this may be the start of one. My finger does not hurt or tingle though. s came back 3 weeks later. i also noticed lately that my fingernail beds are really pale but at the end behing the white part it is a dark pink. does anybody else notice this? i know that nails can give clues to health problems and i read that it can be related to heart problems. the cause of the pvc's was never known because i don't have insurance and couldn't afford to continue testing for it. all i had was bloodwork and ekg.

About two months ago my fingernail developed a black mark near the nailbed. It has since continued up toward the top of the nail while changing brownish now puple with the uppermost tip is turning white. I have an appointment in October.It doesn't hurt and does not appear to look fungal according to my doctor. Is October to long to wait? I read that melanoma can develop under the nail.
My question is if the wetness I felt on the door handle had been blood and it had gotten on my fingertips and nails and had been wet hiv blood and it got on the fingernail that I punctured and cut my chin with could I have gotten hiv from my fingernail with wet hiv blood puncturing and cutting my chin? ve had this happen to me more than once) Any serious crunching to the nail on your finger will cause this to happen - the bruising underneath the nail is what causes it to fall off, and the bump in the middle of where the nail used to be is actually the new fingernail growing back.
