I figured it would go away, but when I awoke this morning it was extremely painful, red and swollen. I then noticed a little bump on the side of my finger that was not there. My finger had gotten worse, red and warm to the touch and the swelling has went from the to slightly down the finger with the redness travelling down the side of the finger and down the middle of the top of my hand. Everyone keeps telling my just to soak it, I probably got bitten or it's infected.
A rose bush thorn punctured my finger and it became swollen. I washed it with soap and put Neosporin on it. I put an ice pack on it for about 1 min. and the next day the swelling and pain subsided and there was a tiny scab at the puncture site. The finger is still a little swollen. Do I need to go to the Doctor?

About i week ago i noticed the tip of my finger having a bump and was starting to swell. A day passed without any pain and my entire finger was slowly swelling up.. Now my finger tip is red right under the cuticle. I think i was bit by a spider because i know i haven't crushed my finger in any way. I can still move the finger but i cannot bend it. The pain wakes me up at night and the only way to get rid of the pain is take Ibuprofen. I have looked for puncture marks but i cant find any.
Now two days later is hurts and is red and swollen? I don't believe it's broken, it didn't really hurt that much when I hit it, and the cut is really small, like a paper cut size only a little wider. I had a tetnus shot about three years ago... I looked everywhere on the internet, but an infection doesn't make sense, cuz the cut is so small and not deep. But I can't bend it, and it is swollen from tip to my hand, and a little on my hand. (pointer finger).
About 2 months ago I woke up with a swollen pinky finger/palm. It was red and warm to the touch. I did not injure the finger or the palm in any way. I saw my doctor who ruled out arthritis, infection or any broken bones. I have been applying ice packs and taking anti inflammatories. Nothing seems to help as the pinky is still swollen and hard to bend. When I bend my pinky I get pain in the joint at the knuckle by the palm.
He is 16 months old. Saturday morning his smallest finger was hot and swollen and painful to him when we woke him up. The swelling was confined to just the last joint of his finger, to the tip. Its red and hurts when I press down onto it... The one I currently have, has a tiny white head on it which I stupidly popped and the pimple being slightly swollen.
I suffer from moderate acne and I have HSV1 orally - Blood test approved.
Does this sound like herpes whitlow?

No fever after nine days. Amoxicillin for ten days. Nine years ago I had bacterial endocarditis from dentist, left me in wheelchair, amnesia and OIC. Will amoxicillin really help kill any infection or is an Echo, cardiologists and fright in my future?
but certain parts became itchy and red- under toes, sides of feet, a little on top- no ankle swelling or redness. These itchy red areas become hard and painful to walk, the outbreaks last about 24-48 hours. starting about 2 months ago, the big toe on my right foot got red and swollen. swelling is from the nail up, more or less (i've had toenail fungus for years, never been a problem till now). saw doc who prescribed 2 weeks keflex, which helped with the swelling but not the redness. 2 weeks later i saw a surgeon who decided not to remove the nail, as the redness/swelling was spreading to the other toes on that foot.
My fingers normally get infected whenever I pull out a hangnail, but now my finger has gotten infected and I am concerned. It is red and swollen at the tip like normal, but in addition my entire finger is swollen to the point where it is visibly larger than the same finger on my other hand. at the widest point my index finger is a good 1/4 inch wider than the other finger. Now there is a red tint to the swelling but no discharge at the punctures. Im getting worried as it seems like it must be getting infected, and its obviously far from the surface. What can a doctor do? oral antibiotics? amputate? or is it just residual swelling from deep bruising? my hand feels ok except now im noticing some faint pain in my thumb, although it could be unrelated. thanks!
He had no conclusion for the swollen finger and prescribed anti-inflammatory medicine. My finger was at it's worst Sunday and Monday and then started getting better on it's own as each day went by. By Friday (Today) the swelling was completely gone and mobility is back to almost 100%. I did not take the anti-inflammatory medicine because it was getting better on it's own. I still have no idea what caused it but it went away a little slower than it arrived.

what is crush injury? and how long does it take to heal, does this require surgery?
The break is at the second joint right under the knuckle. It is still swollen. It is also red and very painful. If i bump it at all it is unbearable. I know I will need to go back to the dr but I would like to have some idea of what may be wrong in order to ask the right question. Can anyone here help?
When i was 11 a girl broke my right index finger at school and no one believed me when I said it was broken. So obviously it wasn't splinted or even buddy tapped. In the eight grade my mom took me to a doctor that told her that my finger did break and that the bone healed eight degrees off. After six months of trying to buddy tape it and splint it, the bone only moved two degrees. The doctor recommended surgery to pin and straighten out the bone and my mom decided on getting me the surgery.
If you had no injury is your finger red, warm or swollen? Is it the entire finger that hurts or are there areas that hurt worse, like the back or front of the finger?
Several of the things that come to mind for possible pain causes are Gouty Arthritis - another is muscle pain or Carpel Tunnel (CT). However CT usually more than just finger pain. It comes with tingling, numbness and the pain is most often in your little or ring finger - along with weakness and stiffness in the wrists.
The next day my hand became really swollen around and mostly above my CMC joint on my right hand and my index finger knuckle is a little swollen. The swollen area is hard and I don't have complete motion of my thumb. It hurts but not to the point where my mom is willing to take me to the doctor. From looking everything up onling it seems like I sprained my thumb. If someone has any idea what is going on I'd appreciate it.
