As you have asked if it could be in ingrowing nail, I presume that it is on the edge of the finger nail. If that is the case, sometimes we get "back friends", little bits of dry skin and when they are pulled off an infection can occur. Sometimes can just happen. 'Whitlows' can be caused by a virus or by a bacterium that enters the body through a cut. People who work in water, like washermen are likely to suffer more.

once in awhile there is hint of pain in whole area around lumps.. also seems finger nail is brittle,chippy just unhealthy nail. what does this sound like? first peasize bump is petruding from side of top joint of middle finger with second flatter bump just under nail bed. both lumps seem full of water but first peasized lump has gootten harder.
about 3 days ago i noticed a slight tingle and redness in my right middle finger, and since then its got worse. the part around my nail has completely swollen and is really red. its sore to touch i can't put pressure on that part of my finger, i have also noticed little red dots around my hand and up that middle finger. it almost looks like a blister, the skin is stretched and shinny, but i literally have no idea what it could be.
I have a very annoying callus or growth on my right hand ring finger just next to the nail bed it grows to form a hard and rough chunk of yellowish skin and eventually annoys me so much that I remove it either by biting or using nail scissors! When it's the rough skin it doesn't really cause me pain but when I remove a lot of it it it tends to feel rough but soft and starts to feel swollen and sore. It doesn't matter how many times I cut it away it just keeps growing back!

For the last month or two, I have noticed small, dry bumps that have grown on the area around my finger nail and cuticle. At first I thought that this was just dry skin but they haven't gone away with regular moisturizing. I am not sure if these are warts or possibly an infection that I may have gotten from the acrylic nail salon that I used to go to. Is there anything I can use to remove this?
My finger nail was crushed and halfway down the nail bed, the nail is torn and slightly poking into the cuticle. The nail is still attached to my skin at the top of the nail and in the bed at the bottom. This happened last night and my finger is slightly numb, swollen, and there is a lot of what looks like discharge (oily?). It’s been lightly bleeding. I can move my finger and curl it slightly with some pain. Do I need to go to urgent care or can this be taken care of at home?

I went to get a massage at an asian massage parlour in Australia and am worried that I may have contracted hiv.
I received a massage from a Chinese girl and during the massage I inserted one finger about half an inch into her vagina. This went one for about 5 minutes.

I cannot confirm anything without examination but pain at the side of nail can be due to paronychia. It results from a breakdown of the protective barrier between the nail and the nail fold. Diagnosed by gram staining and KOH wet mounts from the skin and nail scrapings.
Treatment includes warm water soaks of the affected finger 3-4 times per day, oral antibiotics, topical antifungals and surgical intervention in more severe cases. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist.

Hello, for the past 2 months I have has dark spots on one of my finger nails with a white patch over the top. It also have a light brown bruise colour underneath. I haven't injured myself, its not sore and not a fungal infection or deficiency/dietary according to my GP. I sae him a month ago and he told me to keep an eye on it and come back if it's not gone.
