I had a burst vein in my finger and it got purple and had swelling. It happens. For me, it was when I was walking and my fingers swelled up (they do that somethings inexplicably) and I had my wedding ring on. I have a friend who is an orthopedic surgeon and he told me it was this. Ice it, rest your hand on a pillow above you when lounging on the couch, etc. I got better very quickly and let's see if you do as well.

When i was 11 a girl broke my right index finger at school and no one believed me when I said it was broken. So obviously it wasn't splinted or even buddy tapped. In the eight grade my mom took me to a doctor that told her that my finger did break and that the bone healed eight degrees off. After six months of trying to buddy tape it and splint it, the bone only moved two degrees. The doctor recommended surgery to pin and straighten out the bone and my mom decided on getting me the surgery.

I too get finger swelling joint pain but don't ever see the swelling. My NS says it has nothing to do with the recovery of surgery but my PT says different. She said until my neck shoulder and arm muscles regain strength I will continue have this. My hands feel heavy like I an walking with weights in hand all day and feels like the fingers are gonna pop off at the joints. I look forward to PT to get relief.

I had a lot of swelling at the end of both of my pregnancies and I had bit feet. Try to put them up which helps with swelling. While it is normal for most women, it also can be a sign of blood pressure issues. Your doctor will check this . My doctor monitored swelling. She'd put her finger into it and it pitted (imprint of her finger stayed for a bit), that was more concerning.

Then last week at my 37 week checkup my bp was high and was tested for hypertension. I always drink a lot of water, elevate them when I can, but walking just made them worse. For me the swelling never went away until I had a couple days rest. Drink lots of water, cut back on salt. Try the walking if that doesnt work then rest on your left side whenever you can, that is what my dr has me doing now.

Hello. I just bought a pulse and blood oxygen meter to monitor my heart rate. However, I noticed that when walking my blood oxygen level drops into the 80's and my pulse jumps up to 115 or higher (this is with just light walking through a store). I do have a heart condition. I have swelling around my heart and my pericardial sac is slightly thickened to around 4mm. Could my heart problem be causing this or is this something else?

We have tried all types and materials of condoms as well as no condoms (I am on birth control). It swells even when we are going very slow--roughness is not what causes the swelling. We have also used different forms of lube as well, all of which has not helped. What is wrong?! If anyone has some insight, it would be greatly appreciated. Salons can get in big trouble for this. A normal manicure or cut would not cause an issue. I was on vacation when my finger blew up (thumb)and had to go to a doctor in the city we were in. They tapped my fingernail to let the puss out and I took antibiotics. But if this happens (and it is rare), you know. You'll have swelling and pain that is very different than a wound healing. My whole finger was swollen.

Keep weight off this leg, especially while walking. Take an anti-inflammatory to avoid swelling and pain. In all probability it will heal in 4-6 weeks. Take care!

I have on two occasions (one recently) experienced swelling of my lower lip spreading from one side to the full lip and required hospital treatment in the form of IV steroids and anti-histamines to reduce the pressure and pain. Quite often I know when this swelling is about to happen as I get an uncomfortable feeling or slight itch and take anti-histamines to try and reduce the onset of the condition.

First it started swelling on my index finger, with a couple of visible red dots under the skin, and then it started on my ring finger, but the swelling was different, it got swollen at one point beyond the big joint of the finger and another swelling at the smaller joint of the finger. Yes, my fingers have been swollen this pregnancy #3. I never swelled w my last two pregnancies, ever. I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring most of this pregnancy. But my feet/ankles are normal.

For the problem you mentioned that your finger is pointing towards the pinky finger, there are some options like putting a brace to maintain the normal position. After a while, this brace can be removed. Again, my advise is that you see a local physiotherapist to discuss your situation, and don't try any of the above suggestions on your own.
