Avatar n tn Also a product called Flex Now which contains Butyrospermum parkii which is supposed to decrease joint stiffness and inflamation over time (supposedly takes 30 days). OK, that's my case. Two photos attached. Any help greatly appreciated!!!
Avatar m tn I have treated twice for Hep C once for 15 mo standard Interferon and Rib, second time for 7 mo with addition of Alinia stopping Jan of 09. I have severe loss of finger joint movement in both hands. started 3 or 4 months after final treatment. My ortho guy doesn't see any structural damage or signs of arthritis .Could there be tie to the Hep C or treatment??
Avatar n tn When there is a capsular injury to a joint in finger, it is best to give the RICE treatment for a few days such as rest, ice application, compression bandage (you can strap the injured finger with the neighboring finger) and elevation (keep hands elevated on a pillow at bed time). You can also take an anti-inflammatory pain killer. Once the injury settles down and there is less pain you have to start physiotherapy.
Avatar n tn You could have injured interphalangeal joint of your finger. The multiple joint involvement could also be due to infection or due to reactive arthritis. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I just discover a hard lump on my finger joint yesterday and I went to my nurse practitioner at college to get it looked at as soon as possible. They told me it might be a Ganglion Cyst but she did say so herself she wasn’t an expert in Orthopedics. I just wanted to post here to get more opinions on the matter. From all the pictures I’ve seen so far on Bouchard’s node it appears on both side of the finger but mine is only on one side.
Avatar f tn any amount of swelling in a small joint such as a finger joint can cause quite a bit of discomfort. It sounds like you "jammed" the joint(s). It can take a long time to resolve. Like 6-9 months. You could try soaking it in hot water to loosen things up and try to pull and put tension on the finger to loosen up the joint. Pull the finger slowly, steadily, and gently straight out. I have found this can help loosen it up and relieve some pressure in the joint.
Avatar n tn As you have mentioned you have a painful finger and ankle joint of recent onset with stiffness. To term it Rheumatoid it needs to fulfill the following criteria- 1. Bilateral presentation, that is pain should be present in the same joints in both hands or legs. 2. More than 3 joints should be affected. 3. Small joints of hand and leg should be involved. 4. Morning stiffness as you have should be present for an hour in morning, and 5.
Avatar m tn b) Would drastic action such as just amputating the little finger resolve the joint pain? My thinking is if it is no longer actually a joint the pain might go away? It really is that irritating and I could live without 1 little finger quite easily. Any advice much appreciated.
Avatar m tn MCP is fine, PIP has less than 90% for sure and DIP seems okay. My finger is still extremely swollen at the PIP joint and at the area of the break due to superficial scar tissue and possibly scar tissue near the tendons. Can anyone please advise their experiences and what the best road to take? I'm currently going to a hand therapist once a week and I'm debating on finding another therapist as well. Thank you all, looking forward to your replies.
Avatar n tn In 2004 I broke by PIP joint in my pinky finger during a basketball game. I had surgery about a week later and had a pin put in. I then started physical therapy a few days later. From day one I was not able to bend the PIP joint at all. I thought this was due to the fact that I just had surgery. 7 years later I am not able to bend the PIP joint at all. It is basically in a straight line with no movement. My DIP joint won't staighten.
Avatar n tn After the cast came out, the doctor told me to go to therapy for 6 weeks/ 2 times a week to get rid of the stiffness in the finger. Now it is May 5th, 2008 and I have 2 more weeks of therapy left but still the finger is a little stiff. I can bend it but not fully and in terms of going back up it doesn't move at all. The therapist has told me that doctor's could do another surgery to loosen up the tendons but I will wait to ask a doctor until my therapy is done.
Avatar n tn I woke up two days ago with sore joint (closest to palm) on ring finger on right hand. Hand and fingers got more swollen as day progressed. Took anti inflammatory tablet that night with dinner and next morning everything back to normal with only a little bit of joint pain. As anti inflammatory has worn off - back to sore joint and swollen hand and fingers (not ridiculously swollen but tight when clenching fist). Can move joint but is noticeably sore.
Avatar n tn After five weeks my ortho told me to start bending the finger by making a fist. After a week of trying the finger still won’t bend at the DIP or PIP joints at all. I called his office to ask if I have a tendon injury and he said that stiffness is normal and to keep trying to make a fist. I’m worried my flexor tendon torn because of an extreme hyper extension of the MCP joint and any effort to move it now will just cause it not to heal. So do you think it’s torn?
2136167 tn?1374728651 I wake up with severe pain and stiffness in nearly every joint in my body.It takes approxi mately 30 mins to feel better if i start moving. Then anytime after prolong sitting it is very difficullt and painul to stand up on my k nees again.Once I start moving the pain subsides .My joints are not swollen or red ,only one finger joint is painful to touch- I am very woried as what is happening with my body. 666921 tn?1254990618 how many of you have pretty bad stiffness - not joint pain as such just a feeling of immobility-siezing-up!!
Avatar f tn I'm a 28 year old female and I have been having swelling, stiffness and pain of my right index finger knuckle for over 2 years. It started off as a little right itchy bump on my knuckle (it kind of looked like a welt) and it felt like it was on fire. I noticed it would flare up when it would rain and there was high humidity. From there it has progressed to swelling and it is usually stiff. It has been swollen for so long now that it has started to deform my joint.
Avatar n tn I have stiffness in the morning in my hands and legs, but also my middle finger on right hand sort of dislocates in the morning if I try to bend too quickly at nuckle. It only lasted in the morning, but now see it continues throughout the day. Could this be arthritis or something related?
Avatar n tn 16 days after ***** accidently hit the small hard lump as well as slightly overflexing joint. Now slight pain upon mornings initial flexions of the joint. As day goes on feels better as I use it. Come mornining, pain and stiffness again until its used. The area is not red, hot. Can fully flex and straighten. Would say very slightly swollen compared to other hand. I'm thinking hot/cold compresses?
Avatar m tn m wanting to get some advice from professionals or someone who has been in the same situation. I broke the proximal joint on my pinky finger about 3 years ago. 2 weeks later i went to the doctor to find out that they had to rebreak it and put 8 screws and a plate in it. My finger is very stiff and im starting to feel pain throughout my hand and arm now. I attached photos below. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, what was the solution & outcome?
Avatar m tn About a week later I experienced quite a bit of pain in my left thumb, it would bend on the half joint where the nail is and hurt like hell. I had to snap it back to place. It seemed like trigger finger, but I do not have artheritis. I could move it all around, it was not swollen or broken. My Dr. looked at it and said it will be OK just give it time because I might of damaged the ligament.
1116556 tn?1345115906 m confused about this pinky joint pain that came out of no where, overnight, and feels painful and bruised. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? I understand carpotunnel doesnt effect the pinky... and my pinky feels really cold and slightly numb. I've taken advil this am, and hoping it will be gone before 24hrs, but plan to call the dr (of course) if not. I'm trying to find other instances of it related to ms... any thoughts?
Avatar f tn -The pain and stiffness come on quickly, whether from an injury or an unknown cause; you may be experiencing the onset of rheumatoid arthritis. -The pain is accompanied by fever; you may have infectious arthritis. -The pain develops quickly and is associated with redness and extreme tenderness of the joint; this may be the onset of gout.
Avatar m tn Along with this some extra attention can be paid to little finger while doing the stretches. Unless there is severe bone/joint deformity, usually this will bring the little finger to a near normal position. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar n tn He has been returned to the vet, and began antibiotic and painkiller treatments, but has still not improved. Has anyone run into a correlation between poisoning and joint stiffness before? He has been with the family constantly since he came home from the vet, so I know he has not suffered any type injury to cause the joint stiffness. Also one day he favors his left front leg and the next he favors his right.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your insight. I do not have high blood pressure though, in fact it's on the low end of the normal range. I get it checked often (only because I'm at the doctor's office often lately). I went to an ENT and he said that the tinnitus was a result of TMJ (jaw). However, he didn't do any tests at all, only asked me a few questions. I know that TMJ can cause tinnitus and I don't doubt that I have some minor TMJ problems, like clicking sounds in the jaw.
478554 tn?1208034407 Around 6 months ago, my left middle finger’s middle joint and bottom joint around the knuckle areas got painful, particularly in the morning. When I tried to flex my middle finger, I can feel the joint is bouncing back and fore like a toggle switch. In particular, my middle finger cannot fold back to touch my palm, when I am trying to hold a fist. When I try, it is painful and unable to curl back much. My doctor has X ray and blood test for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Everything tested normal.
534810 tn?1213327718 I, too, have joint pain and swelling in hands (and sometimes feet) w/femara. I have developed a trigger finger and dequervains tendonitis in bilateral wrist w/thumb pain. Had to go off med for a month and also have sites injected w/cortisone. Never had any of this before. Oncologist said she had seen trigger finger before no dequervains tendonitis? Wondering if anyone out there has had any of these side effects? And what do you think of this? I am miserable w/all this discomfort.
