Avatar m tn About 3 hrs later my ankle had swollen to double the size with the ankle tendons becoming very tight. The swelling has now recindered but the tendons in my ankle are very sore and I struggle to put weight on it. It's as if I have damaged the tendons in a sports injury but I haven't. As anyone got any suggestions what the cause and cure could be. Thanks.
478554 tn?1208034407 i guess that could be a sort of trigger finger.Trigger finger is a common problem that causes pain and snapping of the tendons in the fingers. The cause of trigger finger is unclear, and can seemingly appear from nowhere. It can occur in one or more fingers, and can occur at different times in different locations. The tendons in your fingers attach to the ends of your fingers. When your forearm muscle contracts, the tendons pull the fingers into a fist.
Avatar m tn Three months ago i cut my pinky & ring finger on a saw , surgery was completed & been going to physio for two months to get mobility in the fingers where they had to re-attache the tendons , that stretching is going well but the swelling on back of hand--palm of hand & fingers are giving me a problem , i've been working through that issue(soaking hand from hot &cold water)(wearing compression gloves)(wrapping the hand)(wearing a splint)(arm elevated) (massage) & now anoth
Avatar m tn m a house painter and recently brought my hand down onto the sharp point of one of my painting tools. It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course. That was over two weeks ago. I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Your bottom ribs are referred to as "floating ribs" because they aren't attached to your rib cage like your other ribs (by cartilage or tendons, I believe - I can't remember what though). Therefore, when baby kicks them, there's more give.
736040 tn?1257436457 it sounds like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome to me. Do the pops feel like someone pulled and let go of a guitar string? not sure if that makes sense but I get that sensation. Also, if you tap on the inside of your srist, almost the heel of your hand (by the palm) and pain shoots into your middle finger & first finger & thumb, there is a good chance that it's CTS. that is a test they do for CTS.
Avatar f tn t sound like your doctor even told you whether the problem is the bone itself or if the tendons or muscles are pulling the finger inward. (For example, when someone has broken a bone in the elbow area of their arm, they are taken out of the cast within a week, because otherwise the arm can stiffen into a bent position, not from the bone healing in a bad position but from the muscles tightening up in the cast.
Avatar m tn Any body have a commenton how much range of motion and finger health you can recover when you opt for bone graft surgery to replace the distal phalange of the index finger?
Avatar f tn I have recently begun experimenting with anal stimulation on my 19-year-old boyfriend by penetrating his anal cavity with my finger. About 2-3 inches in my finger comes into contact with something small, smooth, kind of pointy-ish, and kind of hard-ish (feels almost similar to cartilage but not quite). I don't know what this is and I don't know if it is something normal or something to be concerned about.
Avatar m tn I was cut by a glass vase a month ago. It was my middle finger at the point where the finger meets the hand on the palm side. It was quite painful and bled for a bit. The next day it was quite swollen. I went to the doctor and she had me see a specialist the next day. I was tod there was no Flexor or tendon damage. I was put on an antibiotic for 10 days. There was no glass left in the finger and the cut area did not get inflamed. It healed rather quickly. The swelling remained.
Avatar f tn Lately i have had numbness in my thumb, index finger, midfle finger, ring finger and pinky finger as well as pain in this fingers. My wrist, forearm, and elbow gets pain in it. Avatar f tn Hey anyone, I dont know what I exactly did to my finger...but I am having pain in my right hand on the last knuckles of the ring and pinky fingers. It hurts when i do just about anything...not extremely painful though. it especially hurts when i push down from the top of the ring and pinky fingers, if i spread the two fingers apart, when i push them together, and when i grip things.
1538033 tn?1292706466 About a week ago, I accidently cut my left ring finger & had to have 8 stitches,,the ER doc said that some of the tendons were exposed and that I may need to see a hand surgeon to be on the safe side..But my question is, is it normal for my finger to feel half numb??..I do get like a shocking pain through it once in awhile..
Avatar m tn Turns out arthritic carpal bones have injured tendons to 1st thumb then index finger a month later. Wrist has to be fused to prevent further damage and carpal tunnel tendon repair attempted in 2 separate surgeries. Can I do any kind of (light) weight training or use a rowing machine after healing up?
Avatar f tn It is always good to get a follow up X-ray done and also to rest your fingers. If required wear a finger splint for couple of weeks to allow your tendons to get enough rest. With decrease of inflammation and pain and no bone involvement you have to start physiotherapy to decrease the stiffness and get your fingers to full mobility. Use icepacks for inflammation and also use intermittent pain killers. Take care!
Avatar f tn I've had a growth on my right index finger, in the middle of the finger on the knuckle, started out as a blind pimple and has slowly grown to the size of my fingernail. Is quite soft but has a very dry cap and sometime small amounts of pus will be noticeable from the surface. Been to two different doctors, second Doctor did a biopsy which came back with the conclusion: "A granulomatous inflammatory process is seen at one end of the biopsy.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have not had sex with a partner, but want to start masturbating. Your innies an outies was very helpful, but I'm a little concerned. I stuck my finger in like it suggested, and I feel a kind of ring at the beginning, which I think is the hymen. Then, my finger seems to go straight back into an open space, and pokes what feels like my rectum. (path 1) There is also another thing that feels like a tight ring, but is smaller than the tip of my finger.
Avatar m tn Every site I look at says it is felt at the base of the thumb or wrist but although I know I have De Quervains (the test was quite painful) the worst of the pain will often be not those two tendons next to each other but the thumb tendon that is closer to the top of the wrist and if i pinch my thumb and forefinger together there is a sharp pain where the finger and thumb tendon meet on top at the wrist.
2191245 tn?1342107107 Hi, About a month ago I fractured my ring finger playing Gaelic Football (Irish Sport) and as a result it was crooked to the right from the middle knuckle, the consultant told me you can leave it alone and let it heal or have it repaired under surgery which is what I decided so went through with it they manipulated my finger then splinted it and taped them together although they didn't fully splint it only the front of it, so had the splint removed today after four weeks and my finger is st
5394463 tn?1367323852 If the X-ray was normal, then the finger could be swollen with limited movement due to injury to soft tissue, tendons and ligaments. A MRI should be done and also nerve conduction study. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar f tn ve been having minor pain in the smallest joint on my fourth finger on my right hand. Because I work seven days a week during the school year, I never saw the doctor. But it started getting worse. It hurts, if my fist is closed, to bump the knuckle from above. It also hurts to stretch my fingers out (laying flat is okay, but if I try to stretch them at all, it hurts).
Avatar m tn If it’s not treated, a finger pulp infection can cause a number of complications like spreading of the infection to the bone of the finger causing osteomyelitis, skin necrosis, septic arthritis and tenosynovitis (when the infection spreads to the sheath that surrounds the tendons in your finger). Hence my sincere suggestion would be to get it evaluated from a specialist and get the above mentioned treatment. Hope that this information helps and hope that your sister will get better soon.
Avatar m tn My thumb, index, and middle finger hurt the most, along with the tendons down my thumb. Since starting antibiotics it has improved slightly but it only got so better. Currently I'm on doxy and omnicef along with many supplements (mainly for my immune system). Will different antibiotics help better? I've tried pain meds as well as joint supplements without any relief. I've heard good things about teasal root and samento helping joint pain related to lyme. Any advice?
Avatar f tn There is no point in getting a second opinion. The xray would have showed a broken bone. Your finger would have been strapped up to the next finger to keep it straight and broken bones take about 6 weeks to mend. torn tendons take much longer. I damaged my fibrial posterial tendon (at the back of my leg) by using the treadmill at the gym. I couldn't use my let for 9 months because of the swelling and pain. As you are concerned, you should see your doctor to put your mind at ease.
