Avatar n tn In 2004 I broke by PIP joint in my pinky finger during a basketball game. I had surgery about a week later and had a pin put in. I then started physical therapy a few days later. From day one I was not able to bend the PIP joint at all. I thought this was due to the fact that I just had surgery. 7 years later I am not able to bend the PIP joint at all. It is basically in a straight line with no movement. My DIP joint won't staighten.
Avatar n tn Make sure you are constantly moving the finger at all joints - mcp, pip and dip. I know it's painful. What did me in I think was after my surgery the finger was all bandaged up because of the pin and I couldn't move it therefore the tendons scarred down. I am scheduled for second surgery next month. I cannot bend my pinky at pip at all. The time is now to make sure you are seeing an OT that specializes in hands. You didn't mention any OT or PT or where your fracture location was.
10565177 tn?1414082048 t go to MD until end of May to find out severely dislocated middle bone (PIP?). 2 pins put in and left for 4wks with complete finger splint in straight position. Therapy started immediately after pins out, early July-hugely successful with great strides made re: degree of bend I have gotten back. BUT, my pinky TIP (DIP), I am unable to extend UP to make the finger straight 180*.

Avatar f tn I dislocated my PIP joint on my ring finger 2 weeks ago. It was reduced at the hospital and I went to the hand clinic 24 hours later. They said it was doing ok and I didn't need to go back unless there was a problem with it. I was told to keep it buddy strapped for 2 weeks. I now have the buddy strapping off. The finger isn't that painful unless I bump the joint accidentally. I'm a little concerned as I can't fully straighten it or bend it more than halfway.
Avatar m tn m slightly worried that my finger will never flex or extend fully. MCP is fine, PIP has less than 90% for sure and DIP seems okay. My finger is still extremely swollen at the PIP joint and at the area of the break due to superficial scar tissue and possibly scar tissue near the tendons. Can anyone please advise their experiences and what the best road to take? I'm currently going to a hand therapist once a week and I'm debating on finding another therapist as well.
Avatar n tn After a week of trying the finger still won’t bend at the DIP or PIP joints at all. I called his office to ask if I have a tendon injury and he said that stiffness is normal and to keep trying to make a fist. I’m worried my flexor tendon torn because of an extreme hyper extension of the MCP joint and any effort to move it now will just cause it not to heal. So do you think it’s torn?
Avatar m tn I injured my right pinkie finger while working with a transmission for a clients car. I do this by trade and unfortunately don't have insurance. I was underneath it and had little room to pull out some bolts that were almost seized. I only had about 3 inches on my 12 inch ratchet to use on this stubborn bolt, with all my might and grease that would be present my hand slipped away from the ratchet and my inside pinky slammed against a bracket above my hand.
Avatar m tn What is the proper was to give anesthesia before doing a reduction for a Right dorsal dislocation on ring finger at PIP joint? My Doctor's PA is saying in the notes I consented to a flexor tendon sheath block . She never gave me any other choices. It was the most painful thing I have ever had done. What was done was I was first frozen with some spray and then injected with something right below the finger in the middle on the palm side.
Avatar f tn I stubbed my finger playing with my dog. My pip joint on my pointer finger is in slights pain when I apply pressure or bend it to a certain extent. There is no swelling, redness, or bruising. It does feels stiffer than usual but isn’t in pain if I hold it still. I’m wondering if this is something I need to get checked out or will it heal on it’s own.
Avatar m tn the feeling is only in my MCP, not PIP nor DIP. - it seems that my thumbs MCP are even less affected - nothing wrong with all other joints in my hand and body - I sometimes sleep on my hands, it's a habit, but not anymore since i noticed this issue. - my grandmother and my 28 yo sister have RA. - i'm not doing any sport since 2 months. - i spend a long time on computers.
Avatar m tn Thanks to Dr. Vinod for helping. The 3 kwires have been removed, cast done with and have started OT 2x a week. 6 weeks after surgery, however, I can bend my right pinky at dip, & pip very easily but bending it at mcp (the knuckle that joins at palm) is very tough. While making a fist the pinky stays about an inch away from touching the palm. Also, the 4th (ring finger's) knuckle seems to be sunk. What is preventing the folding of 5 mcp at the palm?
Avatar f tn Dislocated finger at PIP joint 4 weeks ago. It was touching my pinky when I fell. Immediately popped it back in while it was numb. Still very swollen and painful. Hurts very bad to support anything from palm side. I know I tore the medial ligament. Have a red swollen feverish knot on medial side. Been icing it when I can and wearing splint on and off.
Avatar f tn Not too long after the injury I developed a lump/bump on the inside of the PIP joint tha faces anatomically towards the middle finger, clicking sensation in this bump area when bending the finger, pain when bending and now pain into top of hand. Also tingling feeling in lump area. Finally after 9 months after the injury my family doctor referred me to a sports medicine doctor. He took an xray and you could see a lump on the inside of the PIP joint. Not huge but visible on xray.
Avatar f tn There was pizza, wings, deviled eggs, bean dip, salsa, spinach dip, bread with garlic spread, and cupcakes at mine

Avatar n tn I have diagnosed osteo arthritis in my lumbar spine and knees. I suddenly noticed a severe pain in the R first finger PIP joint. Motrin doesn't touch it. Heated water with mag sulfate soaks relieve it very temporarily and liniment has no effect. Last night I began to feel the pain in my right thumb. It is a constant pain. I hate to bother the doctor with this if I need to just suck it up and move along.
Avatar f tn Cake, fruits, finger veggies, sandwiches ( I did pulled pork). It's endless. also cupcakes..
152660 tn?1291755571 Oh, Pip, isn't that the truth how our pets help us in our times of sadness? They get us up and going when it's the very last thing we want to do. We love them and want them to be happy which tends to help us forget all about ourselves for a while. Would be a world of hurt sometimes without our babies to propel us forward. They can do magic!!!! Thanks so much for this update. I'm happy to see Teia is getting over her thunderstorm shock. That took a while, didn't it.
Avatar f tn 5% that my baby will be born healthy and normal (1 in 200) and that the finger test has alot of false positives, but I am freaking out. I go Monday to do the blood test, but won't get results back for 2-3 weeks. Has anyone else tested positive for T13 and T18, yet delivered a healthy baby or had your blood work come back negative after testing positive??
Avatar f tn That sounds delicious, i had finger sandwiches, spinach dip, and a cake
Avatar f tn You could do finger foods like fruit and veggie trays, meatballs pigs n blanket, rotel dip, chicken, pasta, or tuna salad with crackers. Cupcakes and deviled eggs.
636562 tn?1223667445 The docs think I'm crazy and shrug me off. 2 years ago, a few days after my grandfather passed away, a DIP joint on my right hand became tender. It very slowly worsened and a few months later I could see where it was swelling slightly over the joint (if I applied pressure or stretched my hand it would blanch and turn white over the knuckle).
Avatar f tn Basically finger foods and also common foods so you won't have stuff people don't like I also had what I was craving at mine
Avatar f tn I have recently begun experimenting with anal stimulation on my 19-year-old boyfriend by penetrating his anal cavity with my finger. About 2-3 inches in my finger comes into contact with something small, smooth, kind of pointy-ish, and kind of hard-ish (feels almost similar to cartilage but not quite). I don't know what this is and I don't know if it is something normal or something to be concerned about.
8788738 tn?1409772164 A ton of finger foods. Tiny sandwiches, turkey/cream cheese wrapped around green onion, various crackers and cheese, cut up fruit and veggies/dip, cupcakes, small candy bowls.
Avatar m tn This flared up about a month and a half ago, and is in the middle joint of my right index finger, the PIP joint. It has gone through cycles of being almost normal to....like today- more swollen and painful than ever. The joint is tight, painful, and has a good amount of fluid over the knuckle. It is a sausage-like finger now. Warming it and slowly working it get some movement back for the day. There seems no rhyme or reason for what flares it up.
3126253 tn?1345384121 At the one for my family we had nacho dip my mom made, my aunt made a smores dip. we also had ham salad sandwiches, and little oreos that we drizzled chocolate on and put blue and green sprinkles on (I'm having a boy), and brownies that had the same as the oreos, and blue punch. And a cake of course. It was a lot, but i had about 20 people and 3 of us are pregnant lol. So A LOT got ate we brought very very little home with us.
