fibromyalgia

Avatar m tn Are you seeing a Rheumatologist for your Fibromyalgia? I am seeing a Rheumatologist for my severe Fibromyalgia. It is always best to check with your Doctor. Keep me posted....Thanks!
Avatar f tn Iam a mother with 2 young children and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 4 years ago. Since then I have been suffering with extreme pain that never lets up. I am curious if anyone else has ideas on which medicines work better for pain. I also suffer from depression and anxiety issues. I also have difficulty sleeping, I feel so alone, because neither my family or friends understand my problems. They think I do not really have medical problems. I appreciate if anyone replies!
Avatar n tn Isn't Zoloft suppose to take away anxiety? I have been on it 75mg for 8 months for depression and anxiety. My psychologist knows I get them, I had one when I was in to see her the other day. I usually get them when ready to got to bed and don't know why this happens. I really don't think it is from the pain. I have fibromyalgia and have been going through a terrible flare and disc problems too. I think my meds should be increased.
Avatar n tn Kathy - I would love to chat with you sometime. I too have fibromyalgia and am just starting to take Zoloft.
709619 tn?1230165075 Do people with fibromyalgia experience attacks similar to MS that last for a week or so and then subside with more mild symptoms, or is it a chronic condition? And are the painful areas always sensitive to touch? I've been dealing with something that feels neurological in nature and I'm working with my neurologist on eliminating certain conditions. I have thus far eliminated two conditions that resemble the symptoms I've been dealing with i.e., ALS and B12 deficiency.
Avatar m tn He basically said this was all anxiety still, and thought I really needed to be on a daily medication instead of just taking ativan when it got really bad. He prescribed me zoloft 100mg, but suggested I start with 50mg to try and lessen the side effects. I have not taken it yet as I am anxious about taking it (of course). I am really just curious as what to expect when starting this. It is supposed to have fewer side effects than the paxil.
1564938 tn?1295223828 I have IBS and currently taking zoloft for postpartum depression. The vicodon I take for my back no longer works for the pain and I contsantly feel drained. My hands are tingling all the time, go numb and pain extends out to both elbows. Almost like cramping pain. It's been really bad and comes on very easily. I feel like I'm falling apart. Any ideas would help.
Avatar n tn I started researching on the internet about the correlation between infectious diseases (giardia in my case), stress, and fibromyalgia. I am really scared cause i started developing a lof of the symptoms described for fibromyalgia such as fatigue, numbness/pain tingling mostly in my left arm but every now in my legs and right arm also. i also have skin sensitivity around my upper back area which feels like somebody is poking me with acupuncture needles.
Avatar f tn Were you ever on antidepressants or any medication that would effect dopamine, serotonin or norepinephrine levels, prior to being dx'd with Fibromyalgia? If so, what was your age and approximately how long did you stay on the medication. Thank you for your response to this poll. Have a nice day.
606078 tn?1247268153 My internist/gp did the blood work to check for Rh, he then sent me to my Rhuemy who in turn diagnosed me with fibro. They work together and stay in close contact regarding my treatment. I take Tramadol, Zoloft, Flexeril, Restoril, high blood pressure meds, a statin for cholesterol, and meloxicam. I couldn't tolerate Lyrica or Neurontin, both made me very ill. My Rhuemy feels that the trauma from having had 3 major knee surgeries in exactly 7 months brought my fibro to fruitation.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I am 25 years old and it is almost crippling for me. Right now I am on Ultram and zoloft. My dr wants me to go see a rheumatologist. I am so upset about the diagnosis because I am so young. I have little kids that I want to chase around at the park and play with but it is a struggle just to get out of bed.
Avatar m tn I have fibromyalgia, depression, rheumatoid and osteo arthritis. Your symptoms sound like me! Depression and anxiety will play a HUGE role in your pain. Does your pain increase when the weather changes? How is your diet? Vit D and stretch excersizes could help. I have been dealing with my pain since 1993 and it is NOT fun, I know how you feel. How is your sleeping? Mine SUKS. I would suggest going to doc and having blood work done. Have them test your SED rate and do an antibody screening.
Avatar n tn My doctor put me on Zoloft(thinking I had anxiety, which I think was cause by worrying about this!). After six months, I took myself off the drug, because it did not help. Earlier this year, my doctor ran all kinds of blood work, and said that everything looked fine. He thinks that I have Fibromyalgia (based on my tender spots). From what I have read, this is extremely rare for men to get.
Avatar n tn I have been on Zoloft off and on for about 8 years. Right now I am on 100mg a day. What is the best way to go off of Zoloft? My doctor is under the belief there is no withdrawel from it. I have fibromyalgia and I think it some what helps with pain, but that is not the reason why I started taking it. Thank you in advance.

Avatar n tn My doctor put me back on EffexorRX 75mg (which I was quite happy to do), but switched to 100mg Zoloft 6 mnths later due to weight gain. So since Nov 2001 to date --- Aug 2005 I have been taking mostly 50mg Zoloft(I don't seem to need more than this.) QUESTION: About 2 wks ago I ran out of Zoloft and have not been able to go to store to pick up. At the same time I had to work a lot...until 3am in morn twice and 1am in morn one other time and still get up about 6:30am or 7:00.
Avatar n tn My doctor (psychiatrist) took me off ZOlOFT. I was on Zoloft for about 5 months at a max dosage of 100mg. When he decided to take me off he did the tapering down process in 25mg increments every five days so I thought that was a good tapering process. I even asked my family doctor and he said yeah that is a safe way to get off the med. I took my last 25mg dose this past Monday night.
Avatar n tn In 2002, I was diagnosed simultaneously with Epstein Barr and Fibromyalgia. The Epstein Barr seemed to clear up after about 8 months (I felt more energetic). My fibromyalgia is focused in my back, ALL of my back; upper, lower, middle, and both sides. F.Y.I. I also have osteoarthritis and osteopenia(?) and (in case it's relevant) I had whiplash (upper back/neck) in Dec. 1987. Now, my questions are: Do Fibromyalgia patients typically experience 'flare ups'?
Avatar m tn Suffering both post stroke pain and chronic fibromyalgia at the same time that has made my life miserable. I get daily migraine tension type headaches, burning pricking numbness pain, stiffness and bad muscle spasms. Amitriptyline, cymbalta, baclofen gave me bad side effects. I m hoping someone can share their success with other drugs. I m willing to give it a try. Thks in advance!
Avatar n tn I began Zoloft, 25 mg., yesterday. I am also taking a tertiary tricyclic (Doxepin, 40 mg./day) for fibromyalgia. Is there any contraindication to combining these two meds? Thank you.
Avatar n tn about 3 years ago, i had dental surgery which has resulted in constant pain and many follow up sugery's with no relief, no sign of infections. i have fibromyalgia, which the doctors believe is contributing to this facial pain. SO, due to the depression, i was put on prozac and buspar for about 2 years. then last november, i suffered my first panic attack, went on ativan (4 mgs) and upped my prozac which made me super agressive. dumped the prozac and went on zoloft.
Avatar n tn Hi. I posted here before about Zoloft and Xanax XR about the detachment feelings I've experienced. I've been on the 2 since Feburary of this year. I'm 21 years old, and lately, I've been experiencing memory lapses, where I forget things I've done 5 minutes ago kinda thing, where I have to focus really hard on what I did during the day, or the previous day. It feels something like ADD.
Avatar m tn Hi does anyone who has been diagnoised with fibromyalgia have swollan lymphnodes? I have a few lymphnodes that are swollan seen numerous (12) drs 2 cts scans nobody biopsied them they say its normal for someone to have lymphnodes that swell and stay swollen? Im scared that there missing something but I recently saw my ob he says it all sounds like firbo then my rhum told me firbo doesnt cause them, but there nothing to worry about. Avatar n tn I am currently taking Zoloft for chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. I am on 75 mgs currently, and I started taking Zoloft about six months ago. I haven't noticed any difference in my health except bad things. I had trouble sleeping before, but it has worsened; I am very restless; I am always tired no matter how much sleep I get (which was already a symptom before I started Zoloft); and I am very edgy some days, which isn't like me at all.
446963 tn?1205333997 I haven't had regular medical care but have had several doctors quickly call my joint pain fibromyalgia and send me on my way with whatever pain medication. I've also been spacey all my life, forgetful. Clumsy. I went to my GP to ask if I could have ADD. He prescribed Zoloft because I was still breastfeeding my 10 month old son and he said it would be safer. However, November last year all my symptoms came to a head.

Avatar f tn Hi.. I upped my dose of Zoloft 5 days ago, and the increased anxiety has abated.. but now something new! I woke up last night with a very sore wrist..I do have some carpal tunnel issues.. but never this painful or long lasting! Today it is still very sore when I move it and very achy. It is very painful to touch the thumb side of my wrist and up along my thumb. Is this another side effect, and will it go? Of course it is on my left hand... which made for a fun 3.
529384 tn?1228873999 //www.*************************/tamras-story/ Tamra’s Story If you have Fibromyalgia, check out Tamra’s very inspiring story about Fibromyalgia that went away! I contracted a hospital-acquired antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection in July of 2007. It left me very weak. While recovering from the infection, my body began to ache, and then I felt depressed and started having daily panic attacks. My doctor measured my TSH and total T3. My TSH was “normal” (of course!

Avatar n tn After 6 weeks of our persistence, she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She attended school about 3 weeks from Janury to June. After trial and error, she responded well to Zoloft and physical therapy. When school began this fall, she seemed to be doing beautifully. She never feels 100% but was excited that first week of school and happy to be "back to normal". Labor Day weekend she began having what we would described as "seizures". This lasted for about three weeks.
