470168 tn?1237471245 I have been taking Lyrica about 1 yr. When I first started Lyrica I immediately experienced euphoria. It was great, I felt wonderful, almost like being high! I again experience it whenever the dosage is increased. This euphoric feeling went away in a short period of time which was disappointing. However, I have found that it still continues to help in a more normal way. My energy level is better than before, I have less pain and my mood is also better.
Avatar f tn Why is it everything they give you for this makes you gain weight yet they tell you to lose the weight to help relief stress from your muscles. Go figure.
735919 tn?1236444549 I took Lyrica for my fibro although it really helped with the pain, I had excessive weight gain and my hands and feet swelled. That doesnt happen to everyone.. you might go online there are several companies that will help you pay for your meds.
Avatar n tn s relaxant, so when you target that you can gain weight. The medical approach with fibromyalgia is to treat the pain, the natural approach is to build the body up through diet, exercise, meditation, etc. eliminating all weakening and inflammatory factors. Snris are now being used for fibromyalgia pain, but they are very difficult drugs and hard to quit and can be liver toxic, but something else to consider if nothing else is working. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Actually there is no weight gain! That is one of the benefits of this medication b/c it is like cymbalta (sp?). For me there were some side effects, but they subsided after a week or so. I got a lot of hot flashes, but they are gone now.
Avatar f tn To lose weight we have to stay away from bread - so I suggest eating bread at every meal. You still need to eat vegetables and protein. Thinking potatoes and yams with butter. Also sugar makes you fat - so eat a dessert after supper. And some vanilla ice cream about an hour before bed should help you sleep and gain weight too. It's not necessary to eat fast food to gain weight - better to eat the right foods and gain slowly.
Avatar f tn I take Lyrica for the Fibromyalgia and it has been a miracle drug for me. Yes, there definately is problems with weight gain, but I started going to the gym, and I take lots of walks which is what we should be doing anyway. I fell like I have a lot more energy to do what I gotta do around the house, at work, etc. I guess I kind of dont pay attention to the pain anymore, I think because of the Lyrica I was able to move around much more that the pain is subsiding because Im getting more exercise.
Avatar m tn Hello, I've had a fairly positive experience with all anti-seizure medications I've tried reducing pain in regards to my Fibromyalgia. I think the reason comes with my belief that there is a malfunction in the central nervous system for some reason. At this time we don't know what the cause is- many new scientists believe it may be neuro-immune. Anyhow, I've responded very well to medications like Neurontin, Lyrica and Topamax.
Avatar f tn I have chronic pain due to degenerative joint disease and fibromyalgia that all started after a near fatal auto accident. I am currently on Celexa and Methadone and I have gained over 30 lbs. Will a combination of these 2 meds cause you to gain wight? I weigh more than I ever have and more than I did when I had my son. I used to have a really high metabolism. I had a hard time gaining enough weight when I was pregnant.
Avatar n tn So it is possible for some1 to lose 70 pounds if they have fibromyalgia i have heard ppl that gain weight not lose it like i do,,,,when im in pain everyday i cant eat..ss i keep asking questions when this all happened i was in a size 14 now a size 3..i was sent all my test from a year ago they said everything is normal...
602504 tn?1219984096 I was prescribed Lyrica but when I read the side effects one of them being weight gain I had to decline. Not having a thyroid its so easy to put on weight and have 26 other meds I take for RSDS, migranes, stomach, thyroid replacement that the side effects from them cause swelling, weight gain and other horrible effects. The VA usually will not give out this drug but my doc got special permission because of all my pain and pain history.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Cymbalta and Xanax at the same time for more than a year. In fact, I lost almost 30 lbs. Don't think negative. I think it depends. Some gain and sone lose weight...not sure why... Thanks!
Avatar f tn What insurance company sent you info on Fibromyalgia. I have never gotten info that validated weight gain as part of FM symptoms. I have gained weight and even with going on a severely regimented weight loss program, in 10 months I only lost 16 pounds. Other women on the program were losing 45 -75 lbs in the time that I was losing the small amt. I was. I could not understand this and my frustration was unbelieveable.
Avatar f tn My back and neck hurts 24/7...The only other thing I can think of is the weight gain of 50 pounds in the last 3 years. That I blame on menapause and the lack of energy to exercise like I used to??? I take melatonin and Benadryl to sleep at night, and even with that I wake up around 3AM to take more Motrin. (Motrin works better then Aspiren, Tylenol, Aleve, etc) I can't think of any other problems. I'm truly NOT a wimp.
Avatar m tn Some people do not gain, and some people need to gain weight, but this is something you should discuss with your doctor on the 18th. Come back and let us know how things go. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I tried Buspar, and it was pretty worthless. I've heard some people say that it really helped them, but most studies show otherwise.
4074293 tn?1351896693 I tried it and found myself mentally slow, unable to focus and write college papers and potential weight gain, so I stopped Lyrica after a month or longer. Some folks say it helps with fibro. I am not one of those. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn If you don't properly digest your food you will store fat. Taking digestive enzymes with ox bile will help your condition. I had my gall bladder removed 2 and 1/2 years ago and had problems with abdominal pain and weight loss. I lost weight because every time I ate I would have pain. The less I ate the better I felt. I started taking digestive enzymes 6 months after surgery because I developed fibromyalgia. It helped with my abdominal pain.
