Fibromyalgia vs rheumatoid arthritis

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia vs rheumatoid arthritis

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn There have been increased incidences of fibromyalgia among people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Having rheumatoid arthritis can be considered as a risk factor for fibromyalgia. A lack of vitamin D is associated with higher risk of rheumatoid arthritis. A correct intake of vitamin D, along with calcium is very important in protecting the health of our bones. Low vitamin D may lead to early progression of the disease. You need to see a specialist.

517902 tn?1314715429 Has anyone mentioned Fibromyalgia or Rheumatoid Arthritis to you? I'm going through a similar thing at the moment and my Dr reckons it could be either of these. Get checked for arthritis anyway, it's not possible to diagnose fibromyalgia by a blood test but the rheumatoid arthritis will show as far as I know. I'm getting bloods taken this week just to start an elimination process if nothing else. Sick to death of the pain and for no reason apparantely! Good luck....

Avatar f tn Joint pain and stiffness may also be found in arthritis. There are many types of arthritis, including rheumatoid and other types of inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, infectious arthritis, and arthritis due to gout or pseudogout. Other causes of joint pain include autoimmune and vasculitic disorders (for example, systemic lupus erythematosus, polymyalgia rheumatica, and polyarteritis nodosa), avascular necrosis of bone, and injuries.

Avatar f tn I strongly suspect I have either arthritis, or osteo-arthritis, or fibromyalgia, does working under "cold" conditions like refrigeration affect what I have mentioned in my questions?
Avatar f tn I have severe fibromyalgia and arthritis since it has gotten so bad my Dr did bloodwork and I have a positive ana. She did another blood that measures sedement times, don't have the name of the test. But it tested negative results for lupus. And my bloodwork shows negative results for rheumatoid arthritis. Can I still have lupus?

1564938 tn?1295220228 Unexplained aches and pains coming on and off could be due to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, H pylori infection, anemia, liver disorders, diabetes, hypothyroidism, Vit B12 or Vit D deficiency and due to calcium or magnesium deficiency. 183933 tn?1290216962 It is possible that your mother could have Rheumatoid Arthritis as well or something else. If I were you I would convince her to be seen by a Rheumatologist and have them do a full diagnostic panel of test on her. That way if there if there is something more going on they can treat her for it, or if it is Fibromyalgia they can diagnose it and treat her for that. Keep us posted and if you have more questions feel free to ask!
Avatar f tn If you search Amazon I know there are a couple of books on this. The studies were done in Italy, I believe, and were mostly applicable to rheumatoid arthritis, but it's long been felt in many schools of traditional medicine that nightshades promote inflammation. If I recall, they found about 10% of people responded incredibly well to removing nightshades from their diet as to relief from arthritis in the study.

Avatar m tn I had a ANA test which the doc said was abnormal but then retested and it was fine. I went a Rheumatoid doc who said i did not have any Lupus or RA. But what else could this be? Is this Arthritis or Osteo? If this is the case this is some serious stuff that hurts. I am eating 4 asprins, motrins, alieves and nothing seems to work. When it does work my body wants to just sleep. I become irritable and sluggish from this. Please someone tell me.

Avatar n tn The doctor I had been seeing always reffered to my problem as rheumatoid disease but never used the word arthritis. I have sinced moved and I am seeing a new doctor, she says I do not have rheumatoid arthritis and when i pointed out my previous doctor never called it arthritis she dismissed the difference. She said her Dx was based on the fact that basically my hands are not a twisted wreck.
Avatar f tn Yes arthritis runs in families.my father had rheumatoid arthritis thankfully none of his children or grandchildren have shown any signs. My grandmother had severe osteoarthritis so I'm assuming I got her genes. I am 58 and I have been fighting arthritis since my early 20's. I just had an implant to replace my big toe joint 10 days ago because arthritis ate it up.get Checked out by a good Dr and have some tests run to find out what you really have.
Avatar n tn The family practitioner ran blood tests to rule out lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, he also said it was not fibromyalgia. Both doctors basically shook their heads and said they may not ever be able to pinpoint the casue--so waht is he to do? He has always had infusion set site sensitivity having to change the angled ones every day. The 90 degree ones do not clog as quickly. I still would like to know if anyone has had trouble with Apidra.
Avatar f tn These blood tests are nonspecific. Rheumatoid arthritis and Fibromyalgia are both possibilities but really, you are going to have to wait and see what the rheumatologist has to say.
Avatar n tn Do you have any other issues like osteo arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or lupus? Fibromyalgia? Women with these issues do report they have joint pain during their cycle. I've also read that having 'too much' inflammation can lead to join pain during your period. Do you respond at all to an NSaid? (ibuprofen is an example but here are many otc nsaids).
