Avatar f tn In addition, the majority of individuals can also have a thyroid receptor resistance that is not detected on the blood tests. Consequently, thyroid treatment, especially with timed release T3, is effective for many patients. T4 preparations (inactive thyroid) such as Synthroid and Levoxyl do not work well for these conditions." Kent Holtorf, M.D. --- link to article: http://www.immunesupport.com/fibromyalgia-treatment.
415098 tn?1214860436 Hi. I'm also suffering from fibromyalgia. This is a disease entity which is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that other organic and more common disease conditions should be ruled out first (such as spine problems or musculoskeletal problems) before making this diagnosis. Fibromyalgia are somewhat correlated with our inability to have a REM sleep (rapid-eye-movement sleep) which makes us feel unenergized and tired even the first minute we wake up.
Avatar n tn Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
Avatar n tn It is making the pain level unbearable I am unable to walk two days after the treatment. Getting steroids in both knees this week for my arthritis. I am at the end of my rope.
458379 tn?1206281707 Hello!! I searched the Internet, read articles, and i could not understand or get a clear idea about the relation between Fibromyalgia & hyperactivity of Thyroid, if there is any? can i get any help?
217229 tn?1192766004 When did you have your last thyroid check? It's my H who is on Hep C treatment, but I had all the symptoms you describe 18 years ago at my doc appointment he said there are 7 things that could cause your symptoms (fibromyalgia being one of them). I came back with anemia and hypothyroid. I still have sporadic type fibromyalgia stuff - but I'm attributing that to aging not anything specific.

So there is a thyroid condition that goes along with fibormyalgia and I've read that CFS patients are at high risk for thyroid cancer as well.
5682570 tn?1372290919 Very simple and fast. 4. Thyroid issues or iodine deficiency causing thyroid dysfunction. Do you experience weight gain , fatigue, itchiness (already established), muscle cramping, joint pain? Have you ever been tested for Hypothyroid? (also linked often to iron deficiencies.) Have you been having G/I and digestive issues? All of the above may be interconnected, but with the limited information I have and without a clinical examination, this would be my best guess.
Avatar f tn The doctor ran kidney, liver, lupus, rheumatoid factor, B12, thyroid, and some other stuff. All apparently was fine (except for blood and protein in the urine which apparently they thought weren't significant). The only result they got was that ANA was "positive". At this point the doctor is saying, basically, he is fine. He is trying self-medicating 1000mg of naproxen sodium/day to see if that helps at all with the pain to try to get some quality of life back.
4861077 tn?1360159739 Hi all just a quick question I have just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and live with pain everyday. I find it hard to do all my daily things to the point that it hurts to peel potatoes what kind of help can I get for this as it is all new to me. I take lots of medication and am still in pain please help.
Avatar f tn I posted my intro here yesterday, so I won't go into all my details, but after 2-3 years of odd symproms and random/chronic muscle pain my neurologist has suggested that I have fibromyalgia. She said I should discuss it with my famil doctor at my next appt, which is in July. Both doctors have run me through countless tests to rule out other neuro and autoimmune diseases including MS. My family doctor really felt like I may be depressed.
715633 tn?1249518882 I am sure many others here will also not agree you need to first see your current physical condition Age is a factor if you are young it is better for you however if you have the following issues IR insulin resistance type 2 diabetes which HCV can cause you will lessen your chances by a considerable percentage of clearing and bring on full blown diabletes Thyroid issues Will make the problems worse with treatment and cause problems that may or may not be the cause of you being taken of
1943833 tn?1349280189 I have wondered often over the last few years if I have Fibromyalgia, but have never asked a doctor about it because I don't seem to have the tender points. I'm wondering how many of these symptoms are "common" for fibromyalgia. Or maybe CFS? -occasional severe sensitivity to noise. I can be sitting in a room, with people around me and noises I would normally not mind (kids playing, etc) will "hurt". I don't really have a headache, and it's not an actual pain.
434278 tn?1324709825 , CTD, Fibromyalgia, Raynauds, Vitiligo, IBS (in the past) and have had Low B6 and low thyroid. I pretty much feel the way you did in your earlier posts. I hope since some time has gone by, that you are feeling better now. Low B6 was a freaky thing! That was the one that made me ITCH, have tinging, numbness, pins & needles, etc. Lots of nerve type stuff. Taking a supplement cleared that right up. Sjogrens will give you that mucus in your throat deal. Do you choke a lot?
221122 tn?1323014865 I'm also dealing with issues that I thought were menopause and they are clearly related to the neuroendocrine system and this is why I sought out treatment for the Fibromyalgia cause it affects all the systems in the body, which I've been told is also related to Lyme. Currently I'm on injections that are to help give me energy and boost at the cellular level the mitochondria. It's scary for me to do these injections as I have to mix three different vials into one syringe, but I am doing it.
Avatar m tn T4-only therapy (Synthroid®, Levoxyl®), to merely “normalize” the TSH is frequently inadequate treatment as the H-P axis overreacts to once-daily oral thyroid hormone peaks, compared to the gland’s steady 24-hr glandular secretion. TSH-normalizing T4 therapy often leaves both FT4 and FT3 levels relatively low, and the patient symptomatic. Recognizing this, Nat. Acad.
Avatar f tn The TSH is slightly high - consider TPO antibody testing for Hashimotos' and consider levothyroxine treatment to normalize TSH in setting of fibromylagia. Thyroid is not likely cause of weight issue.
Avatar m tn In Fibromyalgia what causes the soarness in your muscles and the Fatigue and what can you do about it? Also I've heard that eating only fresh fruits and vegitables will help the flu like symptoms is that true? I live in Eastern Kentucky and I was wondering if there is any Fibromyalgia specialists around or close to kentucky? Do you have excessive weight gain with Fibromyalgia?
Avatar m tn Hepatitis and completed a full course of Hepatitis Treatment which was sucessful in removing the virus? How was your Fibromyalgia before your Hepatitis become active? Now you have completed the Full course of treatment for Hepatitis how is your Fibromyalgia affecting you? 1: Better ? 2: Same ? 3: Worse ? My Fiance' has suffered with Fibromyalgia for the past few years with the main symptom only being Burning hips at night in her sleep.
163305 tn?1333672171 Many doctors think the best treatment for fibromyalgia is thyroid replacement hormones, since fibromyalgia was not even a condition until the mid 1980's when it was decided that TSH would be the "gold standard" for thyroid testing and because the range was too wide, many people who had previously been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, were now left with no diagnosis... thus, those with widespread pain were diagnosed with fibromyalgia - fibro, meaning fiber/muscle and myalgia meaning pain.
Avatar n tn I had half of my thyroid removed 10/06 due to a large nodule. When biopsied it was discovered that I had a small 1/8" on thyroid that had cancer (not requiring treatment), but I also have Hoshimotos disease. My Endo doc put me on Levoxal (80mg), which I started about four weeks agao. I have also had Fibromyalgia (bad) for about five years or more. I virtually always have had pain, sometimes so bad I did not know how I would get by...until 3 weeks after going on the Levoxal.
Avatar n tn The fibromyalgia (FM) treatment is separate (but not entirely) from thyroid so I would not stop seeing the rheumatologist. FM pts often need more aggressive thyroid treatment - get the TSH to around 0.5 with synthroid (t4)-- some people feel better with T4 and T3 (eg cytomel) combo even though the research has not shown a clear benefit with recent trials (?design problem vs no benefit?). I presume you have positive thyroid antibodies given the other autoimmune history.
Avatar n tn Diagnosed with hypothyroidism when pregnant, due to late diagnosis and treatment developed a goiter. Med for thyroid seems to be working - levels normal for a while now. Severe gastro pain, nausea, vomiting, led to diagnosis of 'mild' crohn's disease after children were born - within two years. Father has crohn's. Allergies increasing over the years, getting more severe and sensitive as time went on.
Avatar n tn com link (I found it last week) if I have a thyroid problem. Doctors have been checking my thyroid for years but they always just do the TSH test and it says I'm fine. So I just found a new rheumatologist and will see him next month. I'll be sure to come back here and share what I've learned after all this.
Avatar n tn (TESTED NEGATIVE TO LUPUS, RHEUMATIOD ARTHRITIS, INFLAMATION,) received treatment with cymbalta and lirica but no help. cortisone steroids relived pain, only. is it possible that the problem started with the b12 deficiency? i resently started b12 injection one month ago.
10059661 tn?1407568770 he explained. Dr. Häuser presented an overview of research on fibromyalgia treatment here at the European League Against Rheumatism Congress 2014.
