I have been diagnoised with Fibromyalgia and my endocrinologist has been "experimenting" with treatments to see just what is thyoid related and what is not. I have been steadily gaining weight since she prescribed cortef 10mg and Armour thyroid 30mg 2x day with continued fatigue and exhaustion. After several years, I was informed if there may or may not be underlying thyroid conditon. I struggle with many other potential symptoms such as fatigue, cold extremities, dry skin.

You need to see an Endocrinologist and have he or she run tests on your thyroid and blood glucose. I have insulin resistance that caused my fibromyalgia, cycle irregularities as well as PCOS. My husband was just diagnosed as pre-diabetic and has CFS, chronic IBS and flares of fibromyalgia. We both were put on metformin, strict diet and exercise to help control our blood sugars and thyroid medication because we also have high normal TSH.
Hello I had my Thyroid removed in march 2009, they found cancer and nodules on it. I just went threw Iodine radiation
and finially on some thyroid replacement. It's been very hard for the last 3months, with my heart, body pain, tired, head aches . I've had Fibromyalgia for 13years that I know of, basicly I am almost crippled.
Has anyone gotten better after their thyriod problems where taken care of?

When I had troubles with swallowing, they did an ultrasound on my thyroid and blood tests too. Found that my thyroid level was too low and put me in meds and it made it better.
On a less pleasant note, my friend had the same issue, had the same testing (she's 23) and found stage 4 thyroid cancer.
I suggest getting checked out soon. I never mess around with that stuff.
Have your Dr.s suggested having a thyroid panel run, talked about fibromyalgia or other auto-immune issues? I saw alot of relief after I got started on thyroid meds, but still have some issues remaining. The docs kept on mentioning Fibromyalgia as a possible component, but I have been putting off any work-up because well, I just didn't want to have to deal with another chronic disease. But after developing some TMJ issues, now have an appointment for tomorrow to check out the fibro stuff.

s very hard to get proper testing/treatment there, due to the NHS and their specific guidelines, regarding thyroid testing/treatment. We do have a few members who have been able to go "private" and get adequate treatment; if that's an option, let us know.

While I have no personal experience to share with you, I can probably share some information that might be helpful and hopefully address your concern.
Since Fibromyalgia is not a specific disease, but rather a syndrome, we have to explore aspects of this syndrome or other co-existing conditions imbalances, co-factors that may be linked to potential pregnancy risks.
1. Low cellular thyroid function* and fibromyalgia.
Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some
individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
tried to put me on synthyroid, but it accelerated the weight gain) I was on meds for 6 months. So he took me off. (my levels of thyroid Hormone before treatment showed in the normal range, but closer to hyperthyroid, during treatment my levels started to level out at mid range)
