Avatar f tn I have tender points ALL over my body. My Dr says it's not Fibromyalgia. The spots don't hurt unless they're pressed on, then they feel like bruises (but nothing is there) My tinder points don't match the Fibromyalgia points, and I have about10 times the number of spots that are on the picture. Also from knees down almost ALL of the muscles hurt to touch, not just spots) There's no rash or fever that I'm aware of.T his has been going on for years. Any thoughts????

There are 18 points on body for tenderness in patients of this condition. Diagnosis criteria is that pain at 11 of the points may indicate fibromyalgia. The tenderness in these points is worse in the mornings and has been described as flu-like, burning, throbbing, aching, or stabbing.

I regually have massage to relieve muscle tightness. Googled it but couldn't find a another cause for tender points...? PS - thought the rash might be rosacea, but not reacting to triggers that I am aware of, not going really red anyway. PPS - if it is the start of fibromyalgia, how can I prevent the onset of pain?
Avatar f tn A person must have history of widespread pain lasting since 3 months and pain and tenderness in at least 11 of 18 areas to confirm the diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Treatment of fibromyalgia aims at pain reduction and control of other associated symptoms. Physical therapy, massage, relaxation techniques and exercise may be tried. Sometimes your doctor may prescribe an antidepressant or muscle relaxant if there is no relief from pain and associated depression. Hope you find this information useful.

The pain is commonly located in the neck, shoulders, back, and hip and the tender points are located in the same regions. The tenderness is worse in the mornings and has been described as flu-.like, burning, throbbing, aching, or stabbing. Since you have no muscle pain, Fibromyalgia can be ruled out straight away. Positive ANA suggests an autoimmune disease.
Avatar f tn Well it does feel like they have helped, but what I am wondering is will I be able to have all my tender points injected at the same time??? Then I would feel GR8... Can anyone let me know if its possible. I am also having physio to try and help with my walking as I find walking very painfull because my hips feel so stiff and sore. I have also tried Amitripilene but stopped them as I couldnt cope with waking up feeling like I had a bad hangover...
Avatar n tn An MRI of the brain should be done as well to rule out MS. Also you MUST have at least 11 of the 18 tender points to be diagnosed. This is a requirement by the American Rheumatologist Assoc. or whatever it's called. Doctors who do not specialize in fibro do not know how to check the tender points. I had 3 doctors tell me I had fibro but none checked for the tender points.

Along with this pain, many suffer with additional symptoms such as fatigue, pain in muscles after use can make some people nearly bedridden. Some physician's think its an autoimmune disorder. Physical therapies, relief from pain, exercise and massage form the mainstay of treatment in fibromyalgia. Antidepressants may be needed if there is associated depression. Hope it helps. Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Myofascial pain syndrome, so I have done extensive researh, thank you very much. Fibro has tender points and myofascial has tigger points and fascia problems with no tender points.You can have both syndromes at the same time though.

She gave me a 2 week trial pack of Savella to try. I was wondering if anyone's been diagnosed with mild fibromyalgia. Has anyone been diagnosed with fibromyalgia without taking a sleep study test to rule out sleep disorders? Also, is there anyone who has fibromyalgia without any tender points?
