Take 100 to 200 milligrams of magnesium and 400 to 800 milligrams of malic acid three times a day, twenty minutes before each meal. (Some professionals recommend up to 500 milligrams of magnesium and 2,000 milligrams of malic acid.
Avatar f tn Patients who use this as medication for very long period of time may lose the ability to have a bowel movement after stopping treatment with magnesium citrate, as this supplement, which contains the naturally-occurring mineral magnesium, works by inducing stool production (by increasing the amount of water present within the digestive tract). Dependency could be an issue, often overlooked. Perhaps your Dr. has a reason for this. You should find out, though.

Avatar f tn Hello, What types of doctors have you seen to diagnose your Fibromyalgia? Have you seen a Rheumatologist? Or did your PCP doctor diagnose your Fibro? Rheumatologist are actually the doctors who created the criteria for diagnosing Fibromyalgia and without seeing a Rheumatologist, your diagnosis may be weak if you ever were to require a medical leave or disability assistance.

Avatar f tn Do you take magnesium supplements? Magnesium and calcium will help anxiety. Magnesium will also help muscle spasms and incontinence. You have to take at least 500 mg of mag, and 1000mg of calcium. I haven't tried malic acid yet, but I read studies that indicates that it's helpful for pain also. I take melatonin for sleep. I had a Dr. put me on trazodone which helped me sleep, but it caused toxicity and made my symptoms worse.
Avatar n tn In 2002, I was diagnosed simultaneously with Epstein Barr and Fibromyalgia. The Epstein Barr seemed to clear up after about 8 months (I felt more energetic). My fibromyalgia is focused in my back, ALL of my back; upper, lower, middle, and both sides. F.Y.I. I also have osteoarthritis and osteopenia(?) and (in case it's relevant) I had whiplash (upper back/neck) in Dec. 1987. Now, my questions are: Do Fibromyalgia patients typically experience 'flare ups'?
Avatar n tn For a Cal/Mag supplement, I take Calcium Citrate and Magnesium Malate. For Magnesium, it's important to avoid the type called magnesium oxide as it can cause diarrhea. Most cheap brands use the oxide. The other one I recommend if you can't find malate is magnesium glyconate. I take the Mag Malate as this version of magnesium helps Fibro pain, although Fibro pain is neuropathic pain, so it should help with your nerve irritation. 7.

937868 tn?1570331881 A review of studies on magnesium and malic acid found that blood levels of these two nutrients vary considerably in people with fibromyalgia, but multiple, controlled studies have found magnesium and malic acid to be effective in relieving the symptoms of fibromyalgia . Vitamin B6. Pyridoxine is required to boost the action of magnesium and malic acid in the creation of ATP. Vitamin B6 supplementation may be considered for patients with fibromyalgia whose vitamin B6 levels are abnormally low.
11072290 tn?1415066835 Although you do have osteoporosis (thinning of the bones) I presume you are getting treatment for this, if not, then you should be. Calcium and Vitamin D is usually prescribed by the doctor. Ask your doctor to refer you to the TriageTeam and for you to be referred to Pain Management.
Avatar n tn Interesting liz0629. I just joined this site today because I have been having symptoms similar to yours, expect I don't have the zig zag line with eye movement..could you describe this further? I had an MRI a few weeks ago, and it showed 3 lesions on my brain, yet my neurologist is not concerned that it's MS...I am clueless and despite my symptoms, he wasn't worried, so now I'm back at square one.
Avatar f tn Was told years ago that I have fibromyalgia. Can fibromyalgia or any other muscle, tendon, nerve issue cause these symptoms. Even though I'm told my heart is not an issue, I still am concerned and frightened when these pains occur. Any information on what it could be or what else I could do to find out the cause would be so appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed w/ Hashimoto's about a year ago w/ TSH=92 and positive AB's.. Beginning treatment w/ 50mcg to 75mcg for first 3 months I never felt better in years. TSH not in range at the time so I upped it to 100 mcg w/ plans to go further..Long story short, at 100mcg I developed severe anxiety, panic attacks, slight tremor at times and insomnia. Went the majority of spring and summer w/ the issues pushing up to 125mcg. TSH came down to 5.5+/-.
Avatar n tn I am a 43 yr old female. I have Fibromyalgia and have for over 10 years, so I'm achy, but to me that's just "normal". I have gained (according to them 50lbs but according to my scale about 35lbs in 9 months). I work out 3-4 days a week. I have a pretty decent diet, not big on junk food. I'm always tired (I even yawn at the gym!!) regardless of how much sleep I get. I have zero sex drive. Dry/Brittle Hair My hands get cold for no reason.
Avatar n tn The cause of your symptoms needs to be analyzed. It could be due to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, H pylori infection, anemia, liver disorders, diabetes, hypothyroidism, Vit B12 or Vit D deficiency and due to calcium or magnesium deficiency. It can also be due to sleep related disorders. In women it can be due to hormonal disturbances related to PCOD/menopause and in men it can be due to low testosterone.

Avatar f tn Looking for help...I am 33 years old. I have Systemic Lupus and fibromyalgia. 3 years ago had a bad lupus flare and was put on 60mg of prednisone for a year and a half. After 2 mo on the prednisone I developed avascular necrosis in my knees, then hips. I had both my hips replaced, but they don't want to mess with my knees too at my age...Before all this happened (3 years ago) I was very active, walking, yoga, etc.
Avatar m tn I have trouble sleeping and many nights may only get 3-4 hrs of sleep, even with muscle relaxers. My primary physician believes I have fibromyalgia, he sent my to a rheumatologist. The rheumy did not even take a health history! I told him my symptoms which had recently worsened. I was experiencing spasms and twitching in my legs and feet, along with numbness. My toes have a bluish/purple cast to them and are ice cold year round.
