Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia symptoms wikipedia

136956 tn?1425609872 She had spinal fusion surgery last January and is only worse now and exhibits symptoms that seem to mimic fibromyalgia. I don't know much about it at all. I have hepatitis C and usually post below in that forum so have been around Med Help for about five years and have found it to be one of the best forums around. I am curious if there are any tests, blood markers, etc. for the disease? I want her to go to the Mayo Clinic and wonder if that is warranted?
Avatar m tn 45 days and still not ok????!!!!! Please somebody tell me that this is not true, I can't stand these symptoms that long!!!
Avatar f tn Previously diagnosed with depression and Fibromyalgia and Celiac Disease symptoms. Another half sister had Celiac symptoms and recently diagnosed Fibromyalgia. She also had Endometriosis. A half brother died in his sleep at age 18 unknown cause. 2 maternal aunts have Lupus and another just had surgery for Afib. Waiting on more history and not sure what's related. I sincerely appreciate your help. I'm putting together a draft to show the doctor and maybe get me back to me. Thank you!!!
Avatar n tn You were not specific on the symptoms you experience, but my guess is that when you exercise you don't drink water, or you sweat to excess. This will dehydrate you and you will lose salt and other minerals. You can experience shaking of the hands, visual disturbances, headaches, stomach aches, stitches in the sides, exhaustion, low grade temps and other unpleasant symptoms. If this is the case, try drinking a fluid that has minerals in it like Cytomax.
Avatar n tn I can be tired after 12 hours sleep! Can I be suffering symptoms from my thallassemia. Does any one else feel the same way that I do? This is a little bit hard for me, but I don't want to complain.
1207048 tn?1282177904 Heat intolerance, which causes: sudden exhaustion, legs feeling like they will give out, and shakiness. My menstrual cycle (right around the week of my period) causes:slight vertigo, fatigue (needing to nap daily), heat sensitivity, general feeling of being run down, muscle weakness after exercise or overheating. Cognitive issues: forgetting words, mixing up words/ names/ numbers/ letters. Knowing what I want to say, but not being able to say it.
Avatar n tn Have you ever considered Fibromyalgia? When I first started getting sick, that was one of the first symptoms. I had it in my head and legs. It was mostly dismissed by everyone.
Avatar n tn Does anyone else with these symptoms ALSO have Fibromyalgia? Has anyone found ANYTHING to succesfully treat the GI symptoms mentioned above? There is no cure for Fibromyalgia, but there HAS to be something to at least TREAT the GI symptoms!
Avatar f tn Indeed, integrated treatment plans that incorporate medication, patient education, aerobic exercise and cognitive-behavioral therapy have been shown to be effective in alleviating pain and other fibromyalgia-related symptoms.'' '' Wolfe now questions the validity of fibromyalgia as a disease. He considers fibromyalgia a physical response to stress, depression, and economic and social anxiety, and believes the associated symptoms are a normal part of everyday life.
Avatar f tn You would need to see a neurologist. Wikipedia has an article Peripheral neuropathy with a long list of possible reasons for numbness/sensitivity.
Avatar m tn Even though I've been very stressed out in the period before it began, fasciculations/twitchings are not mentioned as symptoms of CFS in the wikipedia article i've found. But I will surely discuss this with my doctor. Thanks for your tips, I will try to relax, but sometimes I get really freaked out because of the twitching. If there are other people experiencing this, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Avatar m tn I don't know if this is a myalgia question or fibromyalgia question, but I recently was in Thailand and have been back for a few weeks. Anyways, I have had pretty bad myalgia to the point where I am popping pills left and right and just freaking out at the amount of cramping matter how much I stretch or how much water I drink I feel like my muscles and joints are tight and not working. RIGHT now my left hand is beginning to throb with pain!
Avatar f tn Did they say specifically if they thought you had a certain disorder such as POTS, inappropriate sinus tachycardia, vasovagal/neurocardiogenic syncope, chronic fatigue syndrome, or fibromyalgia? The symptoms of dysautonomia are numerous, and each patient has different ones.
Avatar m tn Unexplained pains, sometimes the bones paining and sometimes the muscles can be due to a problem called ‘fibromyalgia’. This is associated with fatigue and a heightened and painful response to gentle touch (allodynia). Other symptoms include needle-like tingling of the skin, nerve pain, muscle aches and spasms, weakness in the limbs, functional bowel disturbances, and chronic sleep disturbances.
Avatar f tn My doctor has now diagnosed us both with Fibromyalgia / Chronic Fatigue we're in the process of trying to decide what our next step will be, our doctor wants us to try his diet plan combined with Herbal Life products Fomula 1, Formula 5, NRG, Multivitamin complex, Flora Fibre, tang Kuei as well as Vitamin D, and Fish Oil for the next 3 months but we're not sure whether to go with that or try something else .
681148 tn?1437665191 I just read the Wikipedia article. OMG! I have at least a third to half of the symptoms on that first list. One of the huge ones it talks about is Functional Bowel Disorder. My entire tract has problems no matter how hard I try to follow a good regimen. And, I'm always getting lectured that I'm not doing my best. Many people get so much better following the suggestions I say I'm doing and mine sometimes has a good day or two but just doesn't work properly.
Avatar m tn RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) is another thought but again you don't seem to present with the classic symptoms. I assume you do not have diabetes which could cause some peripheral nerve damage. I suggest that you make an appointment with your PCP and request some nerve studies. The longer you wait the more advanced any condition could become. So the sooner the better. I find it interesting that it is more pronounced in the morning.
Avatar f tn I have terrible left shoulder pain from fibro. Gets a lot better but still there for a while, then back to terrible. Prayer helps.
681148 tn?1437665191 Going to a doctor would be pointless, especially since it's hard enough to get doctors to take Fibromyalgia seriously. I would love to know at least what this sort of pain is called.
Avatar m tn I suspect, but have no proof, that docs who do not understand or 'believe' in Lyme as something serious are the ones most likely to focus on the patient's emotional state, because that view matches with the fibromyalgia diagnosis. 'Fibro' is not a disease, but a syndrome, which is a collection of symptoms with no known cause. Docs are too often prone to call such an ailment with no obvious cause as psychosomatic or (in women) either hormones or hysteria or whatever.
787406 tn?1339206783 Your other symptoms are all possible symptoms of hypothyroidism. You may even have thyroid eye disease (double vision is one of the symptoms). It is rather obvious you are not even close to optimal treatment of your hypothyroidism. I would also look at vitamin D which is almost a given with hypothyroidism. This can cause extreme muscle weakness particularly in the legs and mimics arthritis. Also vitamin B12 deficiency is another common deficiency state with hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn I have had many cysts removed over the last 10 years and I believe it all started around the same time that the fibromyalgia symptoms started.
Avatar m tn I have discussed these symptoms with my doctor but she feels there is no need for concern (without any testing), so this is my anonymous attempt at a second opinion. I had a prostate infection February 2008 with which I experience burning pain in the groin and fatigue. Went to DR for DRE and was prescribed Doxy. Had an allergic reaction to Doxy so switch to a Z-Pak. This seemed to solve the problem.
Avatar f tn If you get diagnosed with hashimotos after being pregnant and giving birth, does that auto-immune disorder ever go away? My symptoms have never gone away even though the doctor told me it was just postpartum and now I'm fine. That was 7 years ago. I have done test after test of T3 T4 and they are normal range every single time. I remember Barb135 advised me to request the TPO I believe it was, and that came back "normal but at the beginning stage of antibodies"!!!?????
Avatar f tn You could try bringing up fibromyalgia instead of CFS (they are pretty similar, with the main symptoms being pain and fatigue, but CFS is EXTREME fatigue, when Fibro is more based off the pain you feel) I find that doctors don't get freaked out by Fibro like they do when a patient says something about CFS. Also, it's best to NOT mention the internet during an appointment.
886824 tn?1253740254 This attack damages the myelin, which in turn slows down or blocks messages between your brain and the body causing the symptoms of MS. The causes of MS are largely unknown. MS is most likely a multifactorial condition, which means that it involves a combination of genetic, lifestyle and environmental factors. It is currently well established that MS also runs in some families.
5633631 tn?1371349756 I'm worried I have some other immune or neuro condition that has not been diagnosed, like Parkinsons, MS, CFS, Fibromyalgia or something. My current symptoms are as follows. - General Malaise - Mild fatigue, although sometimes heavy fatigue - Disequilibrium, this is my main and most concerning symptom. I feel like when i'm walking my legs dont want to move when my brain tells them, although it has never resulted in any type of paralysis.
Avatar f tn To those who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Guillian-Barré syndrome, Ménière’s syndrome, , Arthritis (rheumatoid, reactive, infectious, juvenile, or osteoarthritis), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrigs Disease) - I'm begging you to look this up and investigate. A full list of symptoms can be found online.
