Could the short, light sleeping at nightime be contributing to a form of narcelepsy? I'm concerned about him falling asleep at the wheel for a longer period of what I think now is 2 to 3 seconds at a time. Is there medication for this condition?

Avatar n tn hi im a 26 yr old female and have had a few episodes of sleep paralysis the last one was the worst. i was awake and could see the room fine and my boyfriend sleeping next to me but i couldnt move then it felt like i was being strangled i couldnt breath it felt as if someone had their hands around my throught i kept trying to move trying to scream anything to wake up my boyfriend to help me but all i could do was see him out of the cornor of my eye sleeping.

Avatar f tn Any how he gave me another sleeping aid, told me more sleep would help with pain and fatigue--- uh he already had me on sleep med!!!! He said nothing for pain as it is not good for fibro people and that he is not saying I dont' have MS he is saying that he will let me wait to see the neuro and start with better sleep. Oh he found 3 trigger points, well I know I have more then that but that was the full extent of my appointment.

This is a common syndrome where one experiences long-term body pain and tender points in joints, muscles, tendons, soft tissues. possible triggers for fibromyalgia includes physical or emotional trauma, an abnormal pain response, sleep disturbances with some of these clinical features like chronic neck or back pain, chronic fatigue syndrome and depression.

Avatar f tn Also, ensure to use CPAP regularly to fight the symptoms of sleep apnea. A sleep study called polysomnography may be needed for further evaluation. Consult your doctor for the same. In the meantime you could avoid taking alcohol and try to sleep on your side as this keeps the airways patent. If any nasal blocks try to keep them patent with OTC nasal decongestants. Aim for optimum weight with exercises or long walks. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Have you had a sleep study done? Looked at possible sleep apnea, obstructive or central, or other sleep disorders? Maybe something to explore, since prolonged insomnia can cause a lot of odd symptoms.
Avatar f tn i have pain in my neck, my upper back, and my lower back, i have constant migraines, i am tired a lot, and i do not sleep right, i wake up in the morning and my lower back is really stiff and my neck is stiff all the time... the doctor did a mri on my neck and he said nothing is wrong but i had a xray done previously and it showed in the xray my bottom and top of my neck curving the wrong way.... my doctor said it was most likely my muscles pushing my neck out....
Avatar f tn Unexplained aches and pains coming on and off could be due to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, H pylori infection, anemia, liver disorders, diabetes, hypothyroidism, Vit B12 or Vit D deficiency and due to calcium or magnesium deficiency. It can also be due to sleep related disorders. In women it can be due to hormonal disturbances related to PCOD/menopause. This needs a comprehensive investigation including blood tests.

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome (a group of symptoms) not a disease. So a fibro diagnosis just tells you that you have a group of symptoms but you still don't have a cause. Also you should have 11 of the 18 fibro tender points if you have FMS. Were you checked for these? If it were me I would consider a second opinion.
