Avatar m tn Study proves fibromyalgia is the real deal Fibromyalgia sufferers have gotten a raw deal for years. Many doctors think the disease is all in their head because there's no lab test that can confirm the source of their symptoms. And with symptoms as elusive as chronic fatigue, muscle pain, and persistent doubt, it's not hard to figure out why these docs are so stumped. Past research has implied that depression was actually the true source of the fatigue and pain of fibromyalgia.

Good luck!
4861077 tn?1360159739 Maybe a sleep study thru a good drs office. My first sleep study said everything was fine. The second showed restless leg, some sleep apnea and unexplained arousals. The second was done at a site connected to a neurologist my pain doc insisted I see, but their office said they also have to repeat studies when the 1st seems fine. My pain doctor won that bet with me. And do you periodically get vitamin D checked? Hypothyroidism is a common problem. Drs checking only TSH are WRONG.

5586759 tn?1370438872 I've had Fibromyalgia since I was a teenager and I have gone through one pregnancy already, but at the time I hadn't been diagnosed properly for the ailments that I have. It's now round two, I am pregnant again, and I'm wondering about good suggestions to help maintain lower levels of pain. Last time I was put on bed rest at 8 1/2 months and that was torture for my sciatica nerve. I'm trying to stay active and strong. I've been going through physical therapy and things of that nature.

4686261 tn?1358138792 Hello! I am curious about sleep study that my rheumatologist ordered in an effort do figure out what's up with me. The sleep study report was vague, except that I clearly have no apnea or PLMD.
2126606 tn?1346348724 This Saturday, May 12, is National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, so it’s a perfect time to talk about fibromyalgia as it relates to opiate use. Over the past few years we’ve seen an increased number of fibromyalgia patients that have started receiving prescriptions for painkillers to address their chronic pain symptoms. As a Registered Addiction Specialist, this is extremely concerning to me especially at a time when we are also seeing prescription painkiller use exploding nationwide.

Avatar f tn com recently published results from a UK study that found that many fibromyalgia patients do have a vitamin D deficiency. I actually realized this before the study was published. I had been on a research protocol targeting the pathogens responsible for my immune dysfunction (lots of work and a few years) and everyone there had a low vitamin D level and higher vitamin D 1,25 hydroxy. If your vitamin 1,25 hydroxy gets too high... you are at risk for organ failure.
Avatar n tn MOMMA always said that you can always look across the street and see someone with it alot worse I just wish I didn't have to look across the street. There is a new study coming out soon at UCLA that I have signed up for, I am willing to try anything to get rid of this, keeping a greast attitude is very important I know but there are those days that you just wish you didn't have to take something just to be able to get going. Once again thank you.
