Avatar n tn I am a woman in my mid 30's. I woke up this morning with sever wrist pain. I also have some numbness in my finger tips and my hand is very very weak. I had noticed over the last couple of weeks that I would have sporatic pain in my wirsts but I just brushed it off. I researched it a little on-line and I came up with the same answer... thyroid. Both of my sisters suffer from thyroid problems so I thought that it could be that.
Avatar f tn In some cases, the area where a person experiences the pain may not be where the myofascial pain generator is located. This is called referred pain. Fibromyalgia and MPS can be difficult to distinguish from one another. Some practitioners beleive they are the same. Both have "trigger points" meaning an area of extreme tenderness. Neither of these conditions can be diagnosed through lab work but rather by the symptoms they present.

I am 71 years old and outside of the pain issue, I am pretty healthy. The only med I am required to take is Synthroid. I have recently been experiencing pain that seems to be related. Avatar m tn The hand pain sounds like fibromyalgia. Celiac disease can cause a cascade of autoimmune diseases, so you might want to get tested for that with the blood tests. If you have that, it's kind of good because completely stopping gluten should turn around all your other problems. I will send a link about the cause of fibromyalgia, which they just discovered.
Avatar m tn Concerning issues have been underway for 4 weeks. Week #1 - occasional twitchy pinky finger on right hand. Pain in hand, wrist, upper arm. No loss of strength or range. Saw my GP he said it was classic carpel tunnel (ulmer nerve under the elbow). Told to change work station. Week #2 - minor tingly and some subtle numbness in mostly arms and feet. Tingly and numbness was off and on - seemed to be more at rest and night? Sometimes numb patches upper arm, face, and lips which were short lived.

894326 tn?1279787685 You need to have pain in 11 of 18 areas of the body called trigger points. The pain is deep muscular and joint pain in these trigger points. I, myself don't know if I have 11 trigger points, therefore I have not been officially diagnosed. But I've suffered with the pain for a long time and now I'm so much better. I suggest you see a Rheumatologist. I don't know what kind of doc gave you all those diagnoses. Was it a Rheumatologist?
272434 tn?1228610809 I will try the splint at night and exercises for wrist. When I can't tolerate the pain any longer then maybe I will look into surgery.
Avatar f tn I had been seeing a nurse practioner for the last 10 years or so but it's gotten worse.. I also have osteoarthritis and early onset osteoporosis and had been seeing a rheumatologist since the 1980's. Long story short...have new rheum. doc and he's prescribed celebrex but nothing for pain & fibro. He says go to my family doctor for the fibro and take advils & tylenols for pain, because percosets, loratabs, etc does not work for osteo. Advils/ tylenols  DO NOT work for me!!!

Avatar m tn I had what I believed was Fibromyalgia for at least ten years. Two years ago my pain became increasingly unbearable along horrible flu-like symptoms that would not go away. All of this forced me to the the doctor and eventually led up to the diagnosis of Hashimotos. I was prescribed Synthroid, and during the next year of so, worked my way up to the dose of 225mcg. I never ever felt completely well though, even at that dose.(my lab results were way normal, even slightly on the hyper side).
Avatar n tn This seemed reasonable as I had just began to walk on my treadmill on a consistent basis. The pain went away for awhile and then returned a month or so later. My internist then referred me to a neurologist. He conducted a physical exam, EMG, nerve conduction test and a MRI of the brain and cervical spine. The neurologist told me everything looked normal and to come back in 6 months. Well the burning in my feet came back so I went back to the podiatrist who thought it was plantar faciitis.

Avatar f tn I have the cool, tingling in my wrist and hands. I always associated this with nerve pain, as it is not an out word "cold". I do get spasms in my muscles, sometimes unbelievable painful, sharp. I also get dizzy often, and have a hard time with memory. my short term is the worst. I can't do simple recall more than 2 or three numbers. I also can't remember order. example: catering, I was told to assemble a sandwich in a certain order so they would all be the same.
152264 tn?1280358257 Is this arthritis? I will get sudden, painful shifts in my right wrist, but the pain goes away after a few seconds as the wrist seems to ease itself back into place. (No visible shifts, just felt internally.) Previously this only happened in one small spot in my hand--at the bony prominence that's about an inch and a half away, in a straight line, from the crease between thumb and forefinger.
