Avatar n tn Unexplained pains, sometimes the bones paining and sometimes the muscles can be due to a problem called ‘fibromyalgia’. This is associated with fatigue and a heightened and painful response to gentle touch (allodynia). Other symptoms include needle-like tingling of the skin, nerve pain, muscle aches and spasms, weakness in the limbs, functional bowel disturbances, and chronic sleep disturbances.

415098 tn?1214856836 They now know that people with fibromyalgia have pain to the touch in specific spots on their body... this aides in diagnosis. Your doctor can identify if you have problems in enough of these areas to warrant a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, especially since you've already had the CT's, etc. Google the words "Fibromyalgia and tender points" and you should find a few web sites that talk about this in more detail. God Bless!

4695766 tn?1358176285 Light touch irritates it more than firm touch. A blowing fan (air conditioning in a car or open window) sometimes hurts, or a hot shower hurts. It is the weirdest thing, and very difficult to explain to someone who doesn't experience it themselves. Not sure if it is the same for you, if so you are not alone. Hope this helps????
Avatar n tn The skin on my arms, abdomen, and especially upper legs feel bruised to touch. Pain is not severe. It does not burn or sting and there is no rash or bruise anywhere. But skin is definitely sore when you even lightly rub over it. Have not found any answers or ideas to what could cause it. Has started in the last week and it comes and goes.
Avatar f tn It is random grapefruit sized sections of skin that ache so bad and are very sensitive to touch and temperature. Sometimes it is a shooting pain through my bone combined with the skin sensitivity, but usually it is just a constant dull ache. Sometimes it is in my hand, like it is right now. Sometimes it is in my leg or my ribs or anywhere. I have read some other peoples' questions who feel similar to me. But do we have fibromyalgia? or is it something else?

Avatar f tn More over i found a higher connection of my pain problem with fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Syndrome (which i guess is a part of chronic fatigue syndrome, if i m not wrong)... I also tried to find treatments for these problems and found tht, my pains hv no origin and thy start anytime and go away anytime without any sensible explanation...so i thought may b cognitive behaviour therapy, graded exercise therapy or therapy for nociceptive system might help...
Avatar n tn A generalized muscle tenderness and aches would go more in favor of fibromyalgia. However, in your case the pain in only in arms and legs. Fibromyalgia cannot be ruled out. You must however look for causes of peripheral neuropathy like those associated with diabetes, hypothyroidism, chronic involvement of liver or kidney, chronic alcohol use. Vascular pathologies like atherosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis too should be ruled out.
Avatar f tn Including the back of my heels. I do have chronic pain elsewhere that is consistent with fibromyalgia like in my neck and back, but the pain in my feet is very different. At night I have to hang my feet off the edge of my bed so they don't touch anything. Just resting on top of the sheets makes them hurt. I am 29 years old, female, 160lbs... Slightly overweight but only recently and because I can't be as active as I used to be. Any other questions that might help, please ask.
Avatar f tn Hi all- I am a 27 year old female suffering from a very severe case of fibromyalgia. It has left me bed ridden for weeks at a time and when the flare ups are bad nothing works. I have prescriptions for morphine and oxycodone but on bad days they don't touch the pain. I can't do massages because the fibro pressure points are too painful to be touched.
Avatar n tn I experienced pain to the touch in my low back. I just shrugged it off as a side effect of the epidural. Nineteen years later, I still have this pain but now it is all over my body....my low back, my ribs, my thighs and shoulders. This pain in my low back is not only when I touch the area, but it's also a deep stabbing pain. I have seen orthopaedic surgeons and have had extensive x-rays, MRI's, cat scans only to come back with absolutley nothing wrong. But SOMETHING is WRONG!
Avatar n tn I started with pain to touch on right side of spine and now very sore to touch on only top part of legs. Also, started having headaches on right side. They have tried Cymbalta and now Savella and it doesn't seem to be working. The soreness to touch is getting worse. Is there something I could suggest to the dr. to try?
Avatar f tn I like you had all the tests, MRIs never showed the excruiating shoulder blade pain I was living with or the bone crushing lower back pain, i have the gamut of symptoms sciatic pain, the joint stiffness, the lack of sleep, skin sensitivity, headaches, leg weakness. Let my story be a tale of caution to you as you navigate finding out what is causing your pain.

Avatar m tn Because you are so young physicians are more likely to discount serious possibilities or less likely to diagnosis life long pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia. I am not suggesting that you have such a condition. I am just encouraging you to seek out answers. Best of luck to you. Remember that we are here to support you and offer our suggestions. Please keep in touch.
