Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia pain remedies

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn fibromyalgia. severe pain under left rib. I was cleaning my kitchen bin and felt a searing pain under mt left rib, at the side. I'm now bed bound, unable to move without screaming in pain. Pain meds, including morphine, don't help. I have slipped discs in my lower back as well. It hurts when I breath. What could be the cause of the extreme pain I'm in? Having slept on my right side last night, I now have extreme shoulder pain. I do have a memory foam mattress.
Avatar m tn Are you seeing a Rheumatologist for your Fibromyalgia? I am seeing a Rheumatologist for my severe Fibromyalgia. It is always best to check with your Doctor. Keep me posted....Thanks!
Avatar m tn I was having fuzzy and double vision. My eye doctor suggested getting my prescription with prisms. I could not believe the difference in vision. Not sure if this could be a possibility but thought I would share my experience. I also have fibromyalgia and RA.
5682570 tn?1372290919 My daughter who's a holistic health practitioner and aromatherapist uses a few drops of Organic Peppermint Oil over the itchy areas. You may also try Aloe Vera gel, as this works well too. On the scalp though, hmm, I bit too messy. ACV (apple cider vinegar) diluted with water for the scalp may help , but do a test on a small area first, just in case you react. For the tingling and numbness on your nose and perhaps the itchiness as well, check out the following possibilities: 1.
Avatar f tn I have recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which is a chronic pain through my joints. I am trying many herbal remedies and have been to see a Kinesiologist who has really helped me as it took approx 5 years to diagnoise me. I thought I was going insane as I was told over and over again nothing was showing up in my blood!. Eventually I was diagnoised which is great because now I know what I am dealing with.
2010625 tn?1329375656 I have been in pain for a month now, my psychiatrist put me on Gabapentin, and it does help some, but doesn't help with all of the pain all of the time. I am not diagnosed with Fibromyalgia yet, mostly because my medical doctor wanted me to go to a specialist, but can't right now due to lack of insurance. If it is not Fibromyalgia I am guessing it must be something like it....some kind of pain disorder anyways.....
Avatar m tn Here is a list of my symptoms fatigue/weakness chronic pain- ALWAYS feels like I have overworked my muscles even when I have done nothing. My shins constantly feel bruised but are not. cold increases my pain to a highly untolerable level. night chills/sweats- I wake up freezing with 5 blankets on me and my sheets are soaking from my night sweats. trouble sleeping- even with sleep medication (trazadone, seroquel) inability to get warm after exposure to cold.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I also have severe RLS (restless leg syndrome (in my arms and legs)) I wonder if I don't also have CFS. I am in such pain all the time and I am exhausted all the time. I noticed several people who post questions about Fibro mention that they have RLS also. I wonder if the two don't go hand in hand?
Avatar f tn I'm curious if the remedies in #3. are known to specifically help tongue pain? Have others had tongue pain that have been helped with those? Or are the suggestions just for pain in general? Yes, I see that stress could be a factor, but don't think I'm under more stress than usual, in fact less than usual. I already take extra B vitamins.
1069644 tn?1276932463 I have talked to people in this forum who work and take oxycontin or wear a fetanyl pain patch. I take oxycontin 40mg daily for the pain and percocet for break through pain. Everyone is so different so talk to your doctor,I don't know if you want to get in to taking narcotics but if you are in a lot of pain and it's not managed it can take over your life. So have this discussion with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Exercise, prayer, seemed to take of it,....seriously. I do know some that go to pain clinics,.......but who wants to be on pain medication, its as debilitating, if not more, than the pain. I vote Life-style change,....because it can work for life. Again,.....you know what they say about opinions.
Avatar m tn Even just walking down the street can seem like a feat at times. • Muscle and joint pain. My muscles and joints are soar all the time. It feels as though I have arthritis although I have been tested for it and do not have it. My neck is probably my largest complaint as it is so soar that I have a constant headache. If I do anything even slightly physical I will be even more sick and soar the following day.

Avatar f tn Were you ever on antidepressants or any medication that would effect dopamine, serotonin or norepinephrine levels, prior to being dx'd with Fibromyalgia? If so, what was your age and approximately how long did you stay on the medication. Thank you for your response to this poll. Have a nice day.
Avatar n tn I have numerous symptoms and I was wondering if they all stem from being diagnosed 13 years ago with Fibromyalgia? One of my chief complaints is I get what I could describe as electrical shocks that start in my head and kind-of shoot through my body. They are very painful and seem to disappear with continued use of Lexapro (my dr. prescribed this for my fibro). However, I have other problems as well. I have severe allergies, in which my dr. has prescribed Zyrtec and Flonase.

Avatar n tn I have been battling fibromyalgia for 9 years. I am now 50 years old and the past two years have been a nightmare, I have been unable to work. In 1991 I had an MRI which showed had a UBO(unknown bright object) I was told not to worry that is was Not MS.In 1997 another MRI showed 8 UBOS, and a repeat MRI recently showed 9 UBOs. Everyone tells me that that is odd but that it is not MS.I am so ill,and in so much pain, Nothing is helping. Does anyone know what a UBO is?
Avatar n tn After that came the Chronic Fatigue Symdrome, Candidiasis, diverticulitis and finally the Fibromyalgia and Myofacial Pain Symdrome, not that the others disappeared. I mention all these because more and more it seems they are all tied together somehow.
16615961 tn?1454423687 Everything from fevers with or without illness, having to urinate frequently, extreme fatigue, muscle aches, joint pain and swelling and right now I feel like my kidneys are going to erupt. I can't sleep because I'm in so much pain. I can't take any cold meds and I just started back to work after being diagnosed. Already out sick on my fourth day. Anyone have any ideas or solutions?
Avatar n tn I have to use prednisone or medrol on and off both for pain and for asthma. I take asthma inhalers and the like when needed. I don't sleep at night and they put me on Ambien which I have taken for many months now and it no longer very effective for helping me sleep, without it I can't sleep more than 2 hours, with it no more than 4 hrs, I used to be able to sleep 6 hrs with it. In addition, I am very overweight and tried to lose weight.
Avatar m tn Geography is just one factor, albeit a significant one for many fibro sufferers. The fibro pain will not disappear, it will subside, when the conditions of the new location are better in terms of temperature, humidity levels, barometric pressure and general climate conditions. So if you felt better out West, because of the dry & warm conditions, it may trump the features & benefits which GA offers, taking in consideration the higher humidity levels in GA.
175662 tn?1282217256 Today my doctor told me I had Fibromyalgia. I'm still kinda uncertain what that means for me or what to expect. I have a very demanding job, and life (I have a 2 month old)... I can't imagine trying to find time to "Stretch" and all the other things she suggested. Does it get better? I have good days, then horrible ones...
Avatar f tn Does anybody suffer with the same sort of conditions and can offer some advice on different pain remedies? I'm really scared! I had my scan last week which confirmed baby has a healthy heart beat and is growing well.
Avatar n tn My question is about Fibro medications and wanting to hear from others' experiences during pregnancy w/fibromyalgia (or chronic pain issues). I also NEED encouragement how to taper off of valium (I am down to from 20 mg to 10 mg a day for anxiety & muscle pain, but feel stuck here) I am probably about 3weeks along and happy about it!!
975514 tn?1325001538 I have no one else to talk to about this except for my sister who also has fibromyalgia. She is the only one who truly knows what pain I am going through. But she has a doctor who is compassionate and sends her for all sorts of testing and doesn't mess around. But they live about three hours away and I know for a fact that I wouldn't be able to handle the drive like that. I can go one way but not both in one day. My kids would miss to much school and I would miss to much work.
Avatar f tn has anyone tried coconut oil to treat fibromyalgia with any success? My fibro started after a viral infection...then I had terrible muscle spasms and a strange weakness in my neck, as though I could not hold up my head. I had a lot of pain in my hips, buttocks, and upper back in the trapezius area. I was at the end of perimenopause and I had recently stopped taking birth control pills. The spasms stopped after a couple of months and my doctor put me on trazadone.

Avatar f tn There is one thing I tried after researching on the internet. Gabapentin (Neurontin) used for fibromyalgia pain. It helped calm me down, helped me to sleep at night (more so than any benzo). You could probably talk to your doctor about it. Some will prescribe it and some will not. And I have heard that it is a hit or miss. Some say that they had great luck with it and others it did nothing. I took 300mgs 3x day. It took away alot of my withdrawal symptoms. Not a miracle pilll but sure helped me.
Avatar f tn Hi Lily, Welcome again. Pain Mangement means just that, managment of your usually chronic pain. If the PMP had no other options he/she will normally do their best to see that you are comfortable. In some cases that means prescribing opiates. Why did you take the prescription? Did you not voice your concerns at the time? Or did the PMP not listen? As Redenna suggested this may be a short term treatment until they can discover a better way to treat your condition.
