fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn I am a 45 year old man whose 20-40 pounds overweight but otherwise in reasonable health. I'm disabled with chronic neck, back, and fibromyalgia pain. I also subsequently have anxiety and depression. For over two years I've been taking the Duragesic Pain Patch 100mcg x 48 hrs and (2 )hydrocodone 10/325mg 2-3 times a day. For depression I take 20mg of Lexapro daily and Valium only as needed for anxiety attacks. For HBP I take Hyzarr and Inderal LA.
329994 tn?1301663248 I currently take Gabapentin, Verapamil, Potassium, Lasix, Metformin, Talwin, and Amrix. I used to take Hydrocodone for back pain and overall pain from the Fibromyalgia. But I developed an allergy to it. So, my doctor switched me to Talwin, which works ok. No allergy to it. We had recently moved and I had to find a new pain doctor. I had shots in my lower back for pain and they gave me Tramadol.
710094 tn?1229308706 Then I got on the fentynal patch for pain and felt I could work cause it helped my pain tremendously. I have also taken Norco for 3 years. I recently went off of my patch due to no insurance. (It's very expensive). I actually feel better. Pain is worse but I'm not as tired and sleepy. I've had all kinds of weird little things like the fibro fog, (confusion, forgetfulness, clumsiness), but nothing like what you described. I just had carpal tunnel surgery.
Avatar f tn m a chronic pain management patient, with fibromyalgia and flank pain due to medullary sponge kidney. I was originally sent to a pain mgmt doc almost 5 yrs because of the chronic kidney pain (was diagnosed with fibro a year later). For almost 5 yrs I have been on the fentanyl patch to manage pain. I was on a 50 patch every 48 hrs (yes, 48 hrs not 72) for most of that time but almost a yr ago I switched to the 25 mcg/hr patch (still every 48 hrs).
1069644 tn?1276928863 40 year old woman in fair physical condition. I am a smoker (trying to quit with patch). I take the following meds...percocet, levoxyl, premarin (weaning off now), probiotics, xanax and diclofenac.I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and anxiety disorder. April this year I started having severe pain between my shoulder blades (upper) more towards the right side, this episode lasted for several days and could also be felt in my chest as if a knife was pushing through.
Avatar f tn Thank you for being here. I was hit by a car as a pedestrian 26 years ago. Had many surgeries & hundreds of procedures. Left with a few chronic conditions, including neuralgia & truly unbearable pain. I’ve been a the fentanyl patch for years & on oxycodone, but have been trying to get to the lowest amount possible. I’m off the fentanyl patch entirely, as of 2 months ago.
9258244 tn?1402972453 I have cervical rediculopathy and extreme pain with it, as well as a past surgery in my lower back from a ruptured disc and pain with that still! Fibromyalgia too. I want off this crap I told him and that I would do nerve blocks or trigger point injections. No more meds.
Avatar n tn I have had fibro for 15 years or so, symptoms started after my hysterectomy. I have been on many different meds but worked the best was the duagesic 3 day patch. Of course it is a narcotic so when I moved and went to a new dr. they took me off from it. Haven't found anything that works very good yet. I do go to the chirpractor often and doing whatever stretches you can helps. I get very sleepy and exhausted for no reason, so if I need I will take a nap during the day.
Avatar f tn re dealing with such strong drugs and you have a pain condition. I have fibromyalgia as well as a long list of other things. I'm on the Fentanyl patch along with other meds. I'm supposed to change the patch every 2 days but I change it every 3 because I'm afraid of it. I'm wondering if you're on the methadone and the Fentanyl together and are you stopping both? I agree you need a doctor's supervision for this AND some kind of plan to deal with your pain.
Avatar f tn I have been on the fentenyl. Patch. 50 mcg every 48 for really bad pain from fibromyalgia and lupus for about 2 years and still having breakthrough pain. I have taken so many medications I got so depressed I quit the fent last.f week was he'll and I am so scared that it won't end. I go to the Er and all tdo is iv lost liquids. I can't.keep anything down and all they say is to see my pain md. When I called a million times all I finally got was a appointment for 5 days from now.
Avatar n tn you may have fibromyalgia. You need to get some medicine to come off of fentynal. Go to a pain mgmt dr if you can and he should help you.
Avatar f tn I figured out with my 4 bulging disks and 2 that have herniated I need to be on pain meds. I am now on 25mcg duragesic patch every 3 days. Does anyone have any knowledge about this drug?
Avatar f tn Hi there everyone. I'm new here and have a question that I hope someone here can help me with. I'm a 32 year old female with chronic pain. I have cervical dystonia in my neck, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, and hidertitis supperteva (sp?). I had been taking 20 mg opana 2x day along with 30 mg Oxycodone 4x day. My pain management doctor changed my dosage this last month to 40 mg opana 2x day and 30 mg Oxycodone 3x day.
Avatar m tn Well, if you manage the pain without the patch then you could talk to your doctor regarding tapering. You could go for a lower strength patch (lower by one third the strength if possible). You should not cut the patch to lower its strength, but buy the next lower strength patch. Please discuss with your doctor and taper off under medical supervision. Also start physiotherapy, swimming etc to help reduce the pain by strengthening the back muscle.
Avatar n tn I am diagnosed with 3 herniated cervical discs and fibromyalgia. I have a history 2 years ago of substance abuse (because of these pain issues). I have been thru a year of treatment and clean for 2 years. Finally referred to pain managment MD who is reluctant to prescribe opioids to treat chronic pain. Tried duragesic patch - 25 mcg TOO strong and 12 did nothing.
Avatar f tn He must have assessed that your depression is serious and a source of your pain besides the Fibromyalgia. This is very valid in many cases. Our brain chemistry affects our opiod receptors and how we assess pain. Also how we think about the pain. Vicodin works on my Fibro pain but the Tylenol is not necessary for FM being we don't have inflammation as a rule. Zydone is Vicodin with less acetominophen (tylenol). Hope I have helped.
Avatar f tn Since I've read a lot about neck pain and headaches...it made sense to me if I had something to support my head it take the pressure off my neck and it might help with the headaches. For a couple of days, I've neck using a few rolled up hand towels until I get to the drug store to buy an actual neck collar. So far...this actually seems to be helping with the headaches. I basically use this when I'm sitting or standing...if you have a long drive it might help to wear one too.
1128145 tn?1260343690 I was told by doctor I can use the percocet along with the patch if patch was not covering pain. Can I ask medication questions here or more specific, like mg I was/am on and added medications? It does not seem right if I am still taking as much percocet as b-4, OR it could be a bad flare up of fibro, stress, so on. And I have had a +10 of nerve pain last 2 days also.
Avatar n tn hello...i too have fibromyalgia...but unfortunately i am unfamiliar with the fentanyl patch, so i dont dare give advice about something i am unfamiliar with...but just hang in there, i am sure someone who has the knowledge will chime in soon for you...good luck hun...
1346101 tn?1288051949 m so sorry your in so much pain. Could it possibly make it any better if you change the patch to 48 hours? I know a lot of people need to change their patch more frequently due to metabolizing the med much quicker. I wonder if you would benifit from a morphine pump. I don't really know if the morphine pump works for your condition. I don't know what else could possibly work. There are not a lot of options when it comes to pain medications.
Avatar n tn I have Fibromyalgia, chronic back and neck pain. I am on Duragesic pain patch, Ultram, Lortab 10 mg, and Lyrica 200mg. I noticed weight gain and swelling in my legs and feet with Lyrica and wanted to know if Topamax could replace Lyrica.
2010625 tn?1329372056 t know enough about fibromyalgia and how, besides the horrid pain, it can affect people. You might do better to post on the Fibromyalgia Forum and discuss with other people who have this if they experience what you do. Depersonalization I know quite personally. I've suffered hundreds of eopisodes during panic attacks, or perhaps it was the depersonalization that brought on the panic.......it has always been a chicken or the egg question for me.
1069644 tn?1276928863 I have talked to people in this forum who work and take oxycontin or wear a fetanyl pain patch. I take oxycontin 40mg daily for the pain and percocet for break through pain. Everyone is so different so talk to your doctor,I don't know if you want to get in to taking narcotics but if you are in a lot of pain and it's not managed it can take over your life. So have this discussion with your doctor.
1036535 tn?1278502599 So many of the symptoms of MS overlap with fibromyalgia, and I have lots of pain that can't be explained. My tests aren't showing MS (at least not yet). And my pain has improved since starting Neurontin.
1578792 tn?1310889878 Hello everyone! I am new to Medhelp and look forward to meeting people with Fibromyalgia and learning what other people are doing to feel better. I was wondering if it is common to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia when I lack "trigger/tender points" that I often read about? I have chronic pain in my left shoulder, left arm, neck, and upper back. Recently I have started experiencing some of these issues on the right side but the main region of pain is left sided.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 8 a day. Last week I went to the doctor. I have pain from my Diabietes and Fibromyalgia. When I told her that I still have pain but it was tolorable. She suggested that we change to Percocet than from there it would be oxicottin then the patch. I don't want to be drugged all the time. With the Norco I was fine my toloerence just went up but I could still take care of my family. Since the only other thing to do was to quit and wait 30 days till the Norco left my system.
Avatar m tn Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 8 years ago. Have all the yucky stuff that goes along with it, but I try not to let it ruin my day, I just go with it when it's bad, and when I have good days I feel blessed. A year ago I developed a rash, similar to teenage zits under the right nostril, traveling down around the corner of my mouth and chin. My rash felt prickly hot and raw. Nothing I used helped, and it just got worse.
230948 tn?1235844329 ve been lucky this last yr and the pain has not been as bad as last and is more muscular pain then nerve.
