710094 tn?1229312306 I have alot of UTI's, vaginitis, yeast infections, headaches and fatigue. I tried to get disability and was denied. Then I got on the fentynal patch for pain and felt I could work cause it helped my pain tremendously. I have also taken Norco for 3 years. I recently went off of my patch due to no insurance. (It's very expensive). I actually feel better. Pain is worse but I'm not as tired and sleepy.
Avatar n tn I am in Physical Therapy for my spinal stenosis and hip and butt pain. It is making the pain level unbearable I am unable to walk two days after the treatment. Getting steroids in both knees this week for my arthritis. I am at the end of my rope.
1676272 tn?1307301854 It can certainly be used for pain control, but so can Lyrica as well as other newer medications that have been successful for chronic pain and fibromyalgia. I think that with you history of addiction you should try non-narcotic medication as the first option, since you already made such a heroic effort of getting of Methadone. Discuss with you doctor all your options before going back to narcotics. Good luck.
Avatar f tn So I have major pain issues and since have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I say that to say this, since I was prescribed the patch and 10mg percocet for breakthru, I have had more relief than in the last 5 yrs. I wish you best of luck Femmy in getting the patch. I tried it one other time, but I had nothing for breakthru so it didnt work. Now using both I am amazed at the level of relief I am getting! I still have pain of course, but not the debilitating kind.
1578792 tn?1310893478 Hello everyone! I am new to Medhelp and look forward to meeting people with Fibromyalgia and learning what other people are doing to feel better. I was wondering if it is common to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia when I lack "trigger/tender points" that I often read about? I have chronic pain in my left shoulder, left arm, neck, and upper back. Recently I have started experiencing some of these issues on the right side but the main region of pain is left sided.
1069644 tn?1276932463 I have talked to people in this forum who work and take oxycontin or wear a fetanyl pain patch. I take oxycontin 40mg daily for the pain and percocet for break through pain. Everyone is so different so talk to your doctor,I don't know if you want to get in to taking narcotics but if you are in a lot of pain and it's not managed it can take over your life. So have this discussion with your doctor.
Avatar f tn My neurologist explained to me that the narcotic pain meds actually create more pain receptors in your brain and create more pain which is why you end up needing more and more of the medicine to control the pain. I can't say that I am out of pain.........but I am better than I was when I was taking a lot of opiates. You are right.......it's just something we have to manage...........I wish you good luck in your battle and every blessing..........
Avatar n tn widespread pains (stabbing, burning, aching, nagging, sharp, every type of pain you can think of); brain 'fog'; deterioration in memory and concentration; tingling in the skin on my upper back (just as though a clothing label is irritating me); fatigue; poor exercise tolerance; shooting pains in my neck when bending forward; sudden, intense but temporary, bouts of tinnitus; excruciating pain in the bridge of my nose from nowhere; sudden noises cause a feeling like an electric shock from my neck
659608 tn?1318292966 I also take muscle relaxant for pain when pain gets excruciating. Otherwise, I tolerate it as much as I could. Tread your day gently.
606078 tn?1247268153 I have `been a smoker since I was 12 years old. I have tried the patch, the gum, and was going to try Chantrix(sp) but I am taking too many script meds and it would be too dangerous. I tried to throw them down and cold turkey, but after 5 days my Dave told me to go and buy a pack of smokes and not to come home until I had my addiction satisfied. My Dave was really skeptical about these e cigarettes but agreed that anything was worth trying.
Avatar f tn 3trs ago I had lumbar decompresion and fusion and thought I would be better off wrong the equipment feels worse almost than the back pain anyway I;ve been on the fentanyl patch for 100's for 2 yrs and I would like to come off I took an addictions course and I am an addictions counsellor I was taught that some times being on the patch makes you feel more pain than their accually is that alot fo it is in your mind due to having addiction problems does anyone out there know or believe this is true
1182133 tn?1266855131 I have chronic pain, 7 back surgeries and fibromyalgia. I have never abused medications so that wasn't my issue. I just didn't want to be in a vegetative state the rest of my life. One thing I noticed about myself during that time was all the excuses. I couldn't exercise, I couldn't leave the house, I couldn't eat right, "I couldn't" wasn't all I ever heard myself saying. That wasn't who I was as a person.
1128145 tn?1260347290 I am very frustrated today (last night) as I was/am in so much pain and thought with the patch I would get more relief/better pain coverage than I was from percocet. I was told by doctor I can use the percocet along with the patch if patch was not covering pain. Can I ask medication questions here or more specific, like mg I was/am on and added medications? It does not seem right if I am still taking as much percocet as b-4, OR it could be a bad flare up of fibro, stress, so on.
Avatar m tn I have suffered many years (most of my life) in terrible pain from fibromyalgia and IBS and accompanying symptoms. For 10 years we exhausted all anti depressants as they make my heart speed too fast. Lyrica caused a manic breakdown I don' t even remember.
Avatar n tn I have fibromyalgia and have been on pain meds for 4 or 5 years. I had endometriosis first and had a hysterectomy in January of this year to relieve that pain. The fibromyalgia is awful. My husband will hug me and I cry out from the pain or just putting on a shirt will cause pain. Some days, I have trouble walking from the pain and other days, I just have trouble getting out of bed. I was first on Vicodin 5/500, but ended up taking 3 to 4 tablets of that for any kind of relief.
1360851 tn?1277585506 Since then I've been afraid to use the patch, I use only percocet to control my pain. I understand there is a class action lawsuit against fentynyl.
Avatar n tn Its always easier to take an extra pill for breakthrough pain than it is to remove a long acting opiod. There is no question if you begin the patch you will become more dependent on opiods. Exhaust your search for alternatives before you jump in. Many antispasmodics and even antidepressants have been shown to be helpful for nerve pain. Neurontin is a good medication as well as baclofen. They are both effective for 'shooting' or constant nerve pain.
16785591 tn?1451600281 Hi I'm also on a Fentanyl patch-100mcg as I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I'd had 3 botched knee surgeries which eventually led to the removal of both knee caps. I've also had a cervical disc replacement & deal w/chronic back pain & hip pain due to a hip/SI joint birth anomaly. I literally just joined this site for a completely other reason than my pain issues. But I read your post about Fentanyl patch & about Methadone & knew I HAD to respond ASAP!!
Avatar m tn With your other pain, you could try to get some pain killers, except that any pain killer taken more than 2 times a week promote rebound migraines which are even worse. None of my pain killers have ever helped my fibromyalgia at all. Let me know more about you so that I might be able to help you more. I wish you the best.
497513 tn?1216845690 I was later diagnosed from the injury with fibromyalgia, Chronic myofascial pain, depression, and Chronic fatigue syn and whip lash. Recently had an MRI of my brain to see if I developed damage. Actually they should of done this months ago. I don't understand the report. There are 3 nonspecific punctate hyperintense foci seen on FLAIR images, one in the right side of the pons, one in the right corona radiata, and one in the left parietal white matter.
Avatar m tn The strengh is calculated by a number of things like your weight, amount of previous prescription and your current pain status. All of these combined can either make the initial patch too weak or too strong. In my case, it was too strong in the beginning and took some time to get used to. I feel that in your case, your dose may be too little and it may need re-adjusting. Talk to your Doctor right away. You will know after a week or by the third or fourth patch if it is going to work or not.
984010 tn?1255799738 Most of us with any autoimmune disease have alot of pain. Take your pain meds when your in pain. I use the scale that any hospital uses; scale 0-10, ten be the worst pain ever, and I'll supplement with hydrcodone when it gets to 7 or 8. But I wear a transdermal pain patch called Fentenyl that I wear and change every 3 days. I started at 25mcg in December last year and now at 100mcg. But they started the 100 at the same time they started the Cellcept last month.
Avatar n tn you may have fibromyalgia. You need to get some medicine to come off of fentynal. Go to a pain mgmt dr if you can and he should help you.
175662 tn?1282217256 Today my doctor told me I had Fibromyalgia. I'm still kinda uncertain what that means for me or what to expect. I have a very demanding job, and life (I have a 2 month old)... I can't imagine trying to find time to "Stretch" and all the other things she suggested. Does it get better? I have good days, then horrible ones...
Avatar f tn Is there any way you can get some shots?? Maybe even a pain patch if it comes down to it. We do build up a tolerance and this is where we need more & more and get our selves in trouble. Maybe talk to the Dr about a patch..This way you will not have pills in your hands and be tempted to take more. I sure do Pray that what the Dr is trying right now works for you. Give it Time to adjust.
Avatar f tn I've been using a Fentanyl Patch since early 2001 to treat chronic pain/Fibromyalgia. I began at a 50 level, went to 75, and then went to 100. Realized that 100 was too strong, so went down to 75 once again. Over the years I have tried to decrease the amount, or sometimes increase it, but I always did best both mentally and painwise at the 50 level. Without this pain killer my life would not be worth living.
951195 tn?1315694029 Originally, I was put on a 25mcg. patch in November 08 for chronic pain by a pain management specialist. Following an accident at the end of March, I was put on a 75mcg. patch. I decided that I REALLY wanted to get off because I kept overdoing during my recovery since I couldn't tell how I really felt. I have managed now to get down to 24mcg. (the mylan patches I take don't have the half mcgs. in them), and over the next couple of days I plan to be to 12.
Avatar f tn For the past week there has been a patch of red, dry skin under my eye, on my upper cheek, and I have no clue what it is. At first I thought it was windburn, (my husband drives his jeep with the top off) so I began applying lotion all day and night. It burns and tingles a little whenever I apply it. The lotion isn't helping though.
