Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia pain medicines

Avatar f tn I am curious if anyone else has ideas on which medicines work better for pain. I also suffer from depression and anxiety issues. I also have difficulty sleeping, I feel so alone, because neither my family or friends understand my problems. They think I do not really have medical problems. I appreciate if anyone replies! Thanks friends!
Avatar f tn I dont beleive that because I have been emailing people who have fibromyalgia and they heve told me alot of different medicines that they are taking that is helping them.
Avatar f tn I like you had all the tests, MRIs never showed the excruiating shoulder blade pain I was living with or the bone crushing lower back pain, i have the gamut of symptoms sciatic pain, the joint stiffness, the lack of sleep, skin sensitivity, headaches, leg weakness. Let my story be a tale of caution to you as you navigate finding out what is causing your pain.
Avatar m tn It is best to seek a second opinion and have a discussion on the possible alternatives, especially conservative treatments if possible. In fibromyalgia medicines should always be used along with exercise and behavior therapy. Consult an experienced doctor. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar m tn Are you seeing a Rheumatologist for your Fibromyalgia? I am seeing a Rheumatologist for my severe Fibromyalgia. It is always best to check with your Doctor. Keep me posted....Thanks!
Avatar n tn What can be done about the chronic Fibromyalgia pain when I am allergic to pain medicines or the pain relievers do not give relief.
Avatar f tn All the tests the doctors have performed are showing nothing for the cause of the pain. My daughter insists the back pain is so bad that she can't tolerate it without pain medicine. It starts in the middle of her back (above where a girls bra strap would be) and wraps around to the front -- sometimes shoots pains down her back into buttocks. When all this started, the pain mgt doctor gave her vicodine and that didn't stop the pain so he also gave her a fentinal patch.
Avatar f tn Hi, A combination of Lyrica and Methadone has been found to be effective in controlling Fibromyalgia pain. Methadone may be administered alone without a combination because it is a potent analgesic. It is a narcotic analgesic similar to Morphine. However it is not used commonly for the treatment of Fibromyalgia. It has some serious side effects. Risk of serious side effects may occur even if patient has used other narcotic medications and if the drug is used improperly.
Avatar f tn Hello everybody , im fighting fibromyalgia, im not completly cured ,but I fell MUCH MUCH better, and the best part im not taking any kind of medicines.
Avatar f tn After much blood work, many hospital visits and an abnormal MRI, my neurologist told me I have Fibromyalgia. He then sent me to a rheumatologist who was COMPLETELY against diagnosing someone with Fibromyalgia. He instantly took me off the nuerontin that I had only been on for one month. I then returned to my neuro advising him that my symptoms continued and some were worse.

1000946 tn?1253811447 I never got buzzed off these medicines they just helped ease the pain. When nothing seemed to work anymore I went to a pain clinic and they put me on oxcontin. Now this was right before everyone started abusing it. It was slow release and it worked wonderful for me. My general doc which also treated me for Fibro said he would give it to me so I would not have to drive so far to the pain clinic. He monitored me very strictly and never had a problem with me or addiction.
Avatar n tn I have the worst case of hep c and fibromyalgia possible, every time I take a pain pill it burns out my liver, they took out my gallbladder and every medication burns my liver I am in true hell, I think of suicide hourly and have a plan if i can not get help have not been out of severe pain in 6 months since the gallbladder came out.I can not go to the bathroom either without enemas daily all i get atr toxins doctors want me to take more pills, mt ggt raised 6 times normal after the operation.
Avatar f tn I was addicted to sleeping medicines for a while. Many people get addicted to pain medicine or anxiety type meds like Xanax or Valium. The problem is that when you are suffering and in pain and your life has deteriorated, you have to do something and oftentimes, that means trying drugs for relief, or to keep from getting worse. Everyone is different, but sometimes just taking vitamins and exercise and yoga and even counseling is just not enough.

Avatar m tn My body feels as if it is held tight -I feel that I was beaten in my entire body, the annoying pain is constant and debilitating -There are some days when the pain subsides, and other days when it comes back in force -My body tremors and I get internal disturbance, esp.
Avatar n tn Although people who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia have real pain, and real medical problems, the diagnosis itself is a "wastebasket" diagnosis. It is what Dr.'s tell you when they either don't know, or when they think it's all in your head. Many people are pushed out the door with this useless diagnosis, as if just a name will make them get better. Don't accept that. Have you been to a rheumatologist? If not, you should.
1373852 tn?1307846648 I would like to know if drugs such as levaquin and cipro and the medicines they use to keep a person in a medical coma can cause fibromyalgia or symptoms like it that persist once the person is recovered from the original illness.I had a bad asthma attack nine months ago,was put in a medical coma for respiratory failure because of it.I have had every test or almost.cbc, autoimmune, hiv, hep c,b,a.I have had emg, eeg, nerve conduction, brain mri, cervical spine.
Avatar m tn Is there ANY help yet for Fibromyalgia patients? That is 'besides' those horrid drugs like Cymbalta & Lyrica that give us wretched side effects.
215021 tn?1224886057 I AM CONVINCED THERE IS A CONNECTION Since my PT 6 months ago, I have had increasing problems with Fibro pain. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 5 years ago and generally manage the symptoms with various pain medications. However, since the op' the joint pain has gotten worse again and I am now convinced there is a connection. I don't really understand all the stuff about the 'auto immune system' but I have been told that mine is showing signs of being 'compromised'.
Avatar n tn However, there are a couple symptoms that don’t seem to match with fibromyalgia/CFS. These are, my muscle pain/stiffness is always worse on the left, and with fibro, the pain is supposed to be symmetric on both sides. I also see visible snow anytime I look up, hundreds of them. I have also noticed when I move my eyes the back of my left eye hurts a great deal. And I am always thirsty. I drink water ALL THE TIME.

Avatar n tn I'm surpose to have Fibromyalgia,my joints pain and muscles, and my head itches and hairs falling out(if this keeps up, I'll be bald in a year. I have depression, anxiety, fatique,I have heartburn and have taken heartburn medicines which caused me to have the depression, anxiety, fatique. I looked up about 5 different heartburn medicines, I have been on and under rare side effects it tells you what the medicines cause, which I have.
Avatar f tn muscle and/or joint pain, debilitating fatigue, headaches, memory loss, difficulty with concentration. Patients with fibromyalgia often have chronic fatigue syndrome as well. Coginitive behaviour therapy is quite helpful in chronic fatigue syndrome and you can go in for this. There is no medication available that can treat CFS specifically, but different medicines like pain killers and antidepressants are quite useful.
