Avatar f tn Does anyone know of a doctor who will prescribe me methadone in low doses for my fibromyalgia. I've tried all kinds of pain meds, including natural and methadone is the only drug that gets me out of bed.
Avatar f tn The only other thing is to maybe switch your current opiate regimen with some different types in order to deal with tolerance issues. My pain management doctor switches mine around on an as needed basis. It helps me alot. We also switch nerve pain drugs somewhat frequently- say from lyrica back to neurontin, etc..
Avatar n tn What can be done about the chronic Fibromyalgia pain when I am allergic to pain medicines or the pain relievers do not give relief.
Avatar f tn You have to find a Pain Management doc in order to get decent pain meds. Usually your GP doc has to refer you before a PM doc will see you. But, you have to have a decent general doc that believes in the pain of FM so that he will send you to a PM doc. There are PM docs there you just havent found them yet and a lot of them dont advertise themselves too much. I guess they dont want the "real" drug seekers to bother them. Your general doc knows who the PM docs are....
Avatar f tn I was referred to a pain management clinic for chronic upper back pain, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. I had already had surgery on both knees to repair torn meniscus and chip away arthritic bone (I was a gymnast). PAIN CLINIC: After making sure I was already doing all the things you are already doing, he prescribed Vicodin (generic) 3x a day and offered acupuncture, which I couldn't do due to cost ($80 a session not covered by insurance).

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed and treated for my fibromyalgia by a pain management doctor several years ago, and then my primary care doctor continued that same treatment. My daughter was seen, diagnosed and treated by a Rheumatologist, and my mother was treated by a Rheumatologist. I went to a Rheumatologist for the first time today, I finally have insurance after 1 1/2 years without.

636136 tn?1228644380 Hello Tish and welcome to MH. Anxiety is a common problem in fibromyalgia and contributes to pain, muscle tension, and irritability. It can make depression and insomnia worse. Various medicines including antidepressants and muscle relaxants treat anxiety. Benzodiazepines such as Klonopin, Ativan, and Xanax, are commonly used medicines. These medicines also cause sedation and thus can improve sleep.
Avatar n tn Ive been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, deteriorating discs and bulging discs(3). three years ago I went to pain management and was put on opiods. Last year, I could not afford the 120 dollar payment for visit and could not go back. when I quit going, I had put myself in a detox for fear of dying. This past month I went back to my doctor and was told I could not be put on my meds because I had gone into a detox. I tried to tell them that I was scared and felt I had no choice?
Avatar m tn Her regular doctor sent her to pain management and the pain management wanted to dose her up to eventually 3000mg of gabapentin. At 900mg a day she started to feel as though she had a helmut on her brain. When she told the dr. that, he said she need to see a shrink. She is no longer with that pain management dr. or taking Gabapentin.

383943 tn?1217722721 I am not sure where you live but I would look around for a pain management doctor. I have been to pain management doctors in the past and this is the first one to diagnose me with anything other than my degenerative disc disease. So I reccomend asking the receptionist what the doctor's qualifications are. The doctors I have seen in the past were quick to write prescriptions and this one really seems to want to help me.
Avatar f tn a combination of physical therapy and occupational therapy , learning pain management and coping techniques , properly balancing rest and activity . Of course, it is important to have a healthy, balanced diet. Not only will proper nutrition give you more energy and make you generally feel better, it will also help you avoid other health problems. Medications generally prescribed are- Pregabalin (Lyrica) which was the first medicine FDA-approved to treat fibromyalgia.
765775 tn?1366024691 I was surprised to learn from my PCP that most of her chronic pain patients beleive that that pain management means their pain should gone, 100%. They become angry with her when they are not pain free. I am thankful for any reduction in my pain as I know most of you are also. Thanks again Red.
Avatar f tn I'm 39 I was diagnosed a few yrs ago with fibromyalgia, I also have piriformis (that muscle is being layed on by a bone) buldging discs in my lower back, the pain is going into my hips and thighs and the pain is so bad it's making me vomit, heat, ice, soaking in the tub, pain pills, none of those are helping, it's getting so bad I can barely lay still, I have to move around just to get some kind of relief, pain management won't help me cause of the fibromyalgia diagnosis, help!!!
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, the decision you made to alter the prescription wasn't a good one. It easily could have landed you in jail. As far as finding a new pm doctor goes, it will likely be very difficult to find another doctor willing to prescribe opiates, but that doesn't mean you can't get pain treatment. Pain management is more than using opiates, physical therapy, medications used to treat neuropathic pain/fibromyalgia, TENS, injections, and other therapies can help immensely.
