Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia pain ear

fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn I can only turn my head to the left so far and I am getting pain and it goes up behind my ear and into my head could this be coming from my fibromyalgia? I have never had it there before. Mostly elbows and knees and shoulder sometimes.
387767 tn?1345872027 I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and thought that I had it under control. But lately I have been having ear pain that feels like pressure in my ears. My jaw has started to hurt, and there are times that my throat has started to close up. My food has actually gotten stuck in there a couple of times. The ear pain started in my right ear, but now it is in my left ear, too. I don't know what is going on but if anyone found any answers since their last post, please let me know.
Avatar n tn I think if you had the trigeminal neuralgia the stomach pain(coeliac and lactose intolerant) and the scaro iliac joint dysfunction, throat pain and ear pain . Also diagnosed fibroids and kidney cyst you may look for a link! Thinking if may all be linked by fibromyalgia anyway. Hopefully that is all.
Avatar f tn Some people need antidepressants (like Cymbalta--it is an antidepressant but also helps pain) as well as pain medication, even an antianxiety. Do you feel you are adequately medicated against all this pain? If not, you need to speak to your doctor frankly and openly about how you are feeling. I hope your relationship with him/.her is such that a talk wouldn't be uncomfortable for you. If it is, maybe a new doc?
Avatar n tn Hello, I don’t think your symptoms are related to fibromyalgia. From your symptoms of ear pain and sore throat on one side of throat it can be due to Eustachian tube dysfunction. For each ear, a eustachian tube runs from the middle ear to the back of the throat and when this tube is blocked then it may cause fluid build up in ear and infections. You can get an examination done from an ENT specialist for these possibilities.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have fibromyalgia and arthritis, and I get this ear pain a lot. It's very frustrating. While you should have a doctor look at it, it's possible they won't be able to tell you anything. I have been to specialists, dentists, TMJ doctors and they all tell me everything looks fine. Just wanted to let you know. I think it is more of a nerve thing, but definitely look into it.
Avatar n tn I wonder if the head pain I am having now is related to the ear pain, or if its a separate issue? I have some health issues, being diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease (namely lupus, CREST, thyroiditis) some years ago, and have chronic fibromyalgia, and am also being treated for GERD. Thank you for any advice you can provide.
Avatar f tn The bottom of the left side of my face is very sore. My ear sometimes hurts and my temple sometimes hurts. This is very annoying. What can it be. Dental xrays didn't show anything. Sinus medication didn't offer any relief.
982333 tn?1305788889 I have had FMS since april 2009. I have this unexplained ear pain, that comes and goes. It feels like I have an ear infection, but I have went to the docotor a few times, and never have an infection. Sometimes the pain is so severe it feels like my ear drum is about to burst. It makes me very sensetive to noise. I am always yelling at my husband to not talk so loud because it hurts my ears so bad!! lol I also can not stand to listen to the radio even at the lowest level in my car.
Avatar n tn In regards to her ruptured ear drum - a ruptured ear drum can cause a middle ear infection or a middle ear infection can cause an ear drum to rupture. An infection causes the other symptoms you are describing too. Are they sure her ear is healing??? Did they look at the other ear? Maybe take her to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist to get another opinion.
Avatar n tn Never really got congested but sore throat hit me hard as well as fatigue ear pain just felt terrible . The doc said it was a virus with Eustachian tube dysfunction . Sge put me on Flonase The sore throat went awar but was left with a persistent cough for a week . I would wake up and it was so hard to swallow because the Mucus in my throat was so sick.
Avatar n tn Hence it could be Trigeminal neuralgia, abscess in tooth, exposed root canal, internal ear infection, maxillary sinusitis, TMJ, herpes (recurrent) without rash or fibromyalgia localized to face. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn impacted wax, swimmer’s ear, middle ear infection, fungal infection of outer canal, boil in outer canal, pinched nerve, benign intracranial hypertension, blocked Eustachian tube as seen in cold and sinusitis etc. TMJ, sore throat and tooth ache can cause referred pain to ear. Mastoiditis is also a possibility. It is difficult to diagnose on net. Please consult an ENT specialist. Take care!
1033336 tn?1252506131 The characteristic feature of Fibromyalgia is a muscle pain mostly in neck, back, thighs, and hips. There is presence of specific tender points in these areas that trigger the pain. Along with this there is morning stiffness in the muscles, brain fog, dizziness and other neurological symptoms. Since you are suffering from pain specifically located at the joints, and it started after the flu, the pains are related to the viral infection.
Avatar f tn then around the 3rd trimester it came back much stronger and including pain at the neck, back and sholder..now and i have this pain all over my left side from head to toe(head, behind ear, neck, shoulder, arm, joints, knees, chest, abdomen, back) i had an ultra sound but the doctor told me i have normal breast tissue and no lumps even under the arm..could this be an advanced breast cancer that spreaded to other organs? or could this be fibromyalgia?
Avatar f tn As I waited for my appointment with a neurologist, other symptoms appeared. My body was itchy and burning, I had muscle spasms and pain, the pain and spasms came along with burning sensations. My neck began hurting so much I felt as if my head was too heavy for it. I had tingling and numbing sensations all over, even on my lips and tongue. I also experienced migranes. I remember having such a bad migrane one saturday morning and ever since I now see visual floaters.
Avatar f tn Magnesium deficiency symptoms are numerous but from your list of symptoms includes wide spread pain (my my doctor thought I had fibromyalgia), ear ringing, migranes, blurry vision, wheezing, dizziness, fluid retention, fatigue (although fatigue and fluid retention are symptom of insulin resistance/pre diabetes as well) to name a few symptoms. Your kidneys might not be too healthy either. Just to add, my mother currently has severe oedema in her ankles due to untreated hypothyroidism.
Avatar m tn MS can certainly cause nerve pain, which is what her ear canal and neck pain sounds like. Talk to her neurologist. There are medications for nerve pain. I've heard of people using Neurontin though I think there are others, too. Good luck to her--I hope she finds relief.
665881 tn?1248926997 Hi all, I'm hoping somebody will answer me because I’m totally desperate for answers. Ok it started a while ago, like 3 months or more; I started to have anxiety attacks and then it turned into derealisation (the feeling of being detached from reality) I am now taking pristiq for my anxiety and that has seemed to go away but the feeling of derealisation is still there but not quite as bad.
2010625 tn?1329372056 Have you tried pain meds...tylenol, ibuprofen, naprosyn, aspirin. If so, keep track of the pain, activity and meds to take to the doctor; it would be helpful in diagnosing you. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have been having sharp pain in my right ear along with a pressure/fullness feeling and ringing in the ear. The hearing has decreased and it is sensitive to noise. Also with this I have had a sudden onset of constant headaches (which I normally never get) that wake me up in the night, and sometimes last all day. I have been dizzy, had blurred vision, felt unbalanced and have also been having strange facial twitches. The twitches have been in my eyes, my nose and my lips!!
Avatar m tn In April, I woke up one night with sharp pain in my left ear. The next morning the left side of my head was very tender and later in the day, my left side of my face went numb. I went to the doctor, she couldn't figure anything out. The numbness went away the next day, so I did nothing else. In May, the numbness of the left side of my face came back and remains today. The severity of it changes and there is sometimes shots of pain through my left ear associated with it.
Avatar n tn I started with pain to touch on right side of spine and now very sore to touch on only top part of legs. Also, started having headaches on right side. They have tried Cymbalta and now Savella and it doesn't seem to be working. The soreness to touch is getting worse. Is there something I could suggest to the dr. to try?
1458882 tn?1287094623 Other causes could be bruxism (clenching and grinding of the teeth during sleep), dental pain, sinus problem, and fibromyalgia (rarely causes localized pain but a possibility). Conditions of the ear like dermatitis of the skin of the ear, compression of the nerves (trigeminal neuralgia, facial nerve compression) or it can be psychogenic otalgia (no cause can be found). Please consult an ENT specialist.
Avatar f tn Stress can be physical, chemical, and emotional. In addition, fibromyalgia sufferers have very low pain tolerance and it means that they can feel the pain very easily. All I can tell you now is to look into your diet and begin to eliminate fast foods and toxic chemicals from your sytem. Also, you need to quit smoking if you want to have an effective treatment for your Fibromyalgia.
1147863 tn?1261609691 Ear infection presents with headaches and ear pain also. There is a connection in the nose/throat to the ear (the eustachian tube). If the nose is congested, the ear is more often affected. Drinking plenty of fluids and over-the-counter decongestants may help. If it improves, you go first to an ear specialist to determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
