Avatar f tn Hey there, I was recently prescribed Neurontin. I was prescribed it for Fibromyalgia pain and to help with the w/d symptoms from Tramadol. Does anyone have any experience with this med. or know any info on it? Anything you know would be great! I was orginally prescribed Lyrica but my insurance wouldn't pay for it so the Dr. gave me the Neurontin instead. Just thought I'd see if anyone on here knows anything. Thanks!
1855076 tn?1337118903 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
Avatar f tn I was taking neurontin 300mg/3x a day. It was working fairly well for about 3 weeks, then started not working...they thought I needed a higher dose, but then my old doctor told me it was all in my head and took me off all meds! It did make me tired and actually made me a little depressed. So while I was taking it my doctor put me on Cymbalta to kind of counter act the depression. Which made me even more tired.
9704730 tn?1405744884 Hello I have a question about neurontin. I recently stopped taking tramadol after 13 years. I had a very difficult time doing so. I stopped Dec 6. My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly. I wanted to know if it is possible that I am still in withdrawal from the tramadol or if it's the neurontin.
1207048 tn?1282177904 My doctor has suggested I try neurontin (or I guess the generic version). I'm not very fond of taking medicine (I know, I'll have to get over that real quick if I get diagnosed LOL). I will most likely try this. I think my sleep is being interrupted after a few hours sleep because I'm uncomfortable. Not in pain so much, but sore and achey.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and I have severe muscle pain and stiffness. I was wondering if anyone could tell me any kind of medicine that might help? Everything I have tried so far didn't help at all......

Avatar n tn I have had fibromyalgia for 10 years. This past August of 06 I filed for short term disabilty, then when to long term disabilty. For the last year and a half I have been having a lot of issues with the fibromyalgia. Back in August of 07 I started stumping, loosing my balance and falling. Back in October I fell and broke my right leg. My question is loosing your balace, falling, etc. part of the fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn Hey Suzy. Welcome to the forum. Oxycodone @ 10mg injected will produce the SAME results as morphine for most people. I'm mentioning this to point out that these types of drugs are opioid drugs, potentially habit forming narcotic drugs. The fact that they are prescribed legally, does not make them any less dangerous than street drugs, other than the fact that their "quality" and strength are consistent with what they claim.
Avatar n tn Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
1184051 tn?1264438908 Hi I am new to this site, but my doctor said in I probably have fibromyalgia about a year ago. I had an MRI done today and it came back negative. My dr. had me have the MRI because of increasing fatigue, tingling body parts, headaches, major memory problems! Now I have to go to a neurologist. I just feel that I will have a bunch of tests and they will say they don't know or label me with fibromyalgia, but do they take it as a serious condition?
358486 tn?1294779988 There are pressure points that are part of diagnosing Fibromyalgia. Google "fibromyalgia pressure points" online for a drawing of the human body that shows those points. If you push at least a half-dozen areas and it hurts, you probably have it. Fibro is painful and is often accompanied by headaches.
Avatar f tn I assume he is referring to fibromyalgia, but I am not certain. I have been treated for anxiety twice and do not feel this is the cause of my symptoms. I also had another Dr. try to treat me with adderall for ADD. I switched drs and none of my current ones feel this is the problem. I would love to here from those of you with fibromyalgia.
8496079 tn?1398416116 I was put on Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) yesterday by my doctor for my Fibromyalgia Condition in addition to the Norco 7.5/325 I can take up to 4 pills day as needed for the massive pain I'm in.
Avatar m tn Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects. Lyrica, the first FDA-approved drug to treat fibromyalgia, has been associated with severe allergic reactions that can cause angioedema — swelling of the throat, head, and neck, resulting in airway compromise.
Avatar m tn Neurontin can be very dangerous. It was originally developed as an anti-convulsant/seisure medication that has now been applied to pain relief. People need to carefully research safe doses and possible side effects..the amounts a doctor is willing to prescribe usually far excedes safe amounts. I'm glad it helped you. Everyone wanting to use this drug must be cautious. It can actually cause people to go 'off the deep end' almost into psychosis. IF it works for you great.
Avatar n tn What can be done about the chronic Fibromyalgia pain when I am allergic to pain medicines or the pain relievers do not give relief.
1073473 tn?1257844249 Sometimes numbness can occur with Fibromyalgia. It's a common neurological symptom of Fibro. I have numbness in my left foot due to nerve dysfunction in my spine. My case is somewhat severe in that I have some other co-occurring conditions along with my Fibromyalgia. As far as trying to alleviate symptoms- make sure you have a good mattress to sleep on at night and a good pillow. Don't sleep on more than one pillow and don't bunched it up.
Avatar f tn Hi all- I am a 27 year old female suffering from a very severe case of fibromyalgia. It has left me bed ridden for weeks at a time and when the flare ups are bad nothing works. I have prescriptions for morphine and oxycodone but on bad days they don't touch the pain. I can't do massages because the fibro pressure points are too painful to be touched.
Avatar m tn How effective is the drug Topamax in which to treat Fibromyalgia. I am aware it is a drug to treat Epilepsy! Epilepsy is caused by over active shocks of Electricity in the Brain cells! Fibromyalgia is caused by over active nerves throughout the body!
554442 tn?1221238825 Fibromyalgia (FMS or Fibro for short) is a chronic condition which causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a variety of other symptoms. The name Fibromyalgia comes from "fibro" meaning fibrous tissues (such as tendons and ligaments), "my" meaning muscles, and "algia" meaning pain. Fibro does not cause joint pain or swelling. The pain from Fibromyalgia is produced in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and tendons. http://www.mayoclinic.
372680 tn?1228165210 I've been taking neurontin for "peripheral neuropathy" for a year now, but one of the side effects is "mild confusion" which basically makes me lose focus. I just saw my neurologist again and we're now trying Lyrica, typically prescribed for fibromyalgia. I've only been on it two days, with a much lower dosage (was taking 1200mg gabapentin/day versus 75mg Lyrica once at night!) and much much much better results (I only take one or two 300mg gapabentins a day).
Avatar n tn Since I've had Fibromyalgia, I have constant bursitis in my greater trocanter (hip bursa) as well as a constant inflammation of my SI joints. I receive shots in my hips every few months, sometimes monthly. I do the exercises given to me by my DO, however, I have only short term relief from the shots. I apply ice. I still have the bursitis and it won't go away. I never had any hip injuries prior or since to cause bursitis. Does anyone else have recurrent bursitis with their Fibromyalgia?
653169 tn?1303449969 I was just recently prescribed neurontin 100mg three times daily for fibromyalgia.. It's working well, buy is making me so sleepy and a bit hungry. Will those effects wear off in time? And is there anything else anyone has to say about the use of neurontin? good or bad?
1523516 tn?1330047857 My rheumy isn't 100% sure yet, but feels as though I may have fibromyalgia and even something else as well. He prescribed neurontin which I started taking last night. He said to take 1-3 but I took one until I know how my body will handle it. He ssaid it would help me sleep and help the weird sensations I'm feeling. I know it will take a while to get in my system I'm sure, but boy did I feel odd this morning.
Avatar m tn My legs and arms are heavy. Anyway, my Rheumatologist put me on long will this take to start working? I am feeling nothing. I start taking 3 pills tonight at bedtime. I hope this works because I am sick of being in pain. Is anyone else in this boat?
