1855076 tn?1337115303 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
8496079 tn?1398412516 I was put on Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) yesterday by my doctor for my Fibromyalgia Condition in addition to the Norco 7.5/325 I can take up to 4 pills day as needed for the massive pain I'm in.
Avatar f tn I was taking neurontin 300mg/3x a day. It was working fairly well for about 3 weeks, then started not working...they thought I needed a higher dose, but then my old doctor told me it was all in my head and took me off all meds! It did make me tired and actually made me a little depressed. So while I was taking it my doctor put me on Cymbalta to kind of counter act the depression. Which made me even more tired.
Avatar f tn Hey Suzy. Welcome to the forum. Oxycodone @ 10mg injected will produce the SAME results as morphine for most people. I'm mentioning this to point out that these types of drugs are opioid drugs, potentially habit forming narcotic drugs. The fact that they are prescribed legally, does not make them any less dangerous than street drugs, other than the fact that their "quality" and strength are consistent with what they claim.
Avatar n tn I have had fibromyalgia for 10 years. This past August of 06 I filed for short term disabilty, then when to long term disabilty. For the last year and a half I have been having a lot of issues with the fibromyalgia. Back in August of 07 I started stumping, loosing my balance and falling. Back in October I fell and broke my right leg. My question is loosing your balace, falling, etc. part of the fibromyalgia.
Avatar n tn What can be done about the chronic Fibromyalgia pain when I am allergic to pain medicines or the pain relievers do not give relief.

Avatar f tn Of the medications you listed, none of them cause teeth sensitivity nor do they cause dry eyes, however, tramadol and Neurontin can cause dry mouth. In regards to teeth sensitivity, over the years, enamel on the teeth can erode due to acidic items we eat or drink and sensitivity can occur all of a sudden. Refer to the American Dental Association on how this starts and what to do: http://ada.org/public/topics/sensitive.
Avatar f tn These symptoms could be fibromyalgia or could be any number of auto-immune issues. Please see a rheumatologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
318073 tn?1197565324 I suffer with Fibromyalgia, Sjogrens, RA, Restless Leg, IBS and I really believe the neurontin is great. I believe it helps with nerve related pain such as neropathy. Give it a try for about six weeks and see how you feel. If you take it a night it may help you sleep better. Try not to take it during the day because it will probably make you sleepy, and if your like me you need to sleep at night rather than off an on during the day.
307897 tn?1242419260 Besides Lyrica and Neurontin, what other pain med is really out there for Fibromyalgia? I have taken both. Loved the Lyrica. I had no pain but the side effects were terrible, including the two broken toes. My GP put me on Neurontin and I am up to 600mg as of last Friday. One 300mg in the morning and one of the same at bedtime. I still have pain but not quite as bad but u know it's still there. I have some side effects from it, too, especially legs and ankles swelling daily.
Avatar n tn Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last March. Since then and after trying few different prescription(Neurontin, Cymbalta) I decided I didn't like the way they made me feel and started researching what nutritional supplements could help. I resorted to taking supplements and saw my energy level and some symptoms improve. About 4-6 weeks, I have tingling (pin & needles) in my feet going up my legs and hands. My rheumatologists suggested I see a neurologist, to rule out MS.
723959 tn?1314744225 Not sure if I have it, but i think I do. I have horrible pain in my legs, and other places. My skin hurts to the touch. So I thought I would ask you guys before I started it.
1243848 tn?1268460072 However I know that Fibromyalgia does not respond to pain medication and is one of the features of Fibromyalgia. I have discovered that sleep is the best pain medication and have known this for a long time realising I always felt better when I had 9-10 hours sleep a night. I finally saw a specialist recently and he told me I must get 9ish hours of sleep at night and not to nap.
9704730 tn?1405741284 Hello I have a question about neurontin. I recently stopped taking tramadol after 13 years. I had a very difficult time doing so. I stopped Dec 6. My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly.
1073473 tn?1257840649 Hello jwles, I am sorry you are experiencing numbness and pain. Did you say the numbness only happens when you lay on a limb, or does it happen all of the time? Sometimes numbness can occur with Fibromyalgia. It's a common neurological symptom of Fibro. I have numbness in my left foot due to nerve dysfunction in my spine. My case is somewhat severe in that I have some other co-occurring conditions along with my Fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn Muscle biopsy anyone? No thank you. ; ^ ) A muscle biopsy can be done to determine if you have inflammation in your tissues, tissue death, muscle damage and loss of muscle mass. I can tell you that in Phoenix, AZ... a hospital started the world's first "fibromyalgia tissue bank". Apparently the researchers there will be collecting brain and spinal cord tissues in hopes of determining the cause of fibromyalgia.
217229 tn?1192762404 Hi there, okay I have taken Neurontin and Cymbalta together. Neurontin is similar to Lyrica, but is a lot cheaper. I could not tolerate the Cymbalta at all. It made me sick with vertigo, nausea, and it didn't help with the pain. I was prescribed this when they first thought I had fibromyalgia and then later found out it was Still's. I have friends that take Lyrica, a lot of them are on the MS forum here and they had little luck with the med itself.

Avatar f tn Hi all- I am a 27 year old female suffering from a very severe case of fibromyalgia. It has left me bed ridden for weeks at a time and when the flare ups are bad nothing works. I have prescriptions for morphine and oxycodone but on bad days they don't touch the pain. I can't do massages because the fibro pressure points are too painful to be touched.

927983 tn?1321884089 My first flares involved my extremities (swelling, numbness and/or pain), migraines, dizziness, vision changes, and some issues with thinking/memory. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia two years ago, as well as cluster migraines. I was told the issues in my extremities was peripheral neuropathy. Things have only gotten worse, I have not responded to the Neurontin I was prescribed, or the migraine medications.
Avatar m tn Can anyone please help me? I suffer Fibromyalgia and recently been having a great deal of pain, tenderness and discomfort in my hands and feet. Is this related to the fibro or could it be something else?
