fibromyalgia

512184 tn?1268790894 In 2006 i was dignosed with Fibromyalgia, then sent for an MRI of the brain. I am extremely fatigued, very weak legs, and experience very bad lower back pain. Lumbar Spine MRI showed no evidence of injury. But my brain MRI showed 4 lesions on left side, and 3 on right side. I get severe headaches, and seem to get extremely fatigued in heat, and at 2 or 3 in the pm. After the MRI, the neurologist did many tests for my strength and abilities, and said he was "suspicious" that it was MS.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and have been told I never had Fibromyalgia - that in order to be diagnosed officially and correctly that it has to be proven that the patient reacts badly to 8 lbs of pressure at the pressure points. I was poked. With a finger. Not a tool that reads pressure. When this doc that says I don't have fibro showed me on the machine what 8 lbs of pressure felt like, I couldn't believe it. It didn't hurt until 25 lbs. Now...
Avatar f tn At this time, there is no "cure" for fibromyalgia - one main reason being is they have not determined exactly what causes fibromyalgia. There are many thoughts and ideas on it, however, nothing has been scientifically proven/discovered. There also are no specific blood tests, scans, etc., for diagnosing fibromyalgia = there ARE certain critieria that need to be met before a true fibro diagnosis.
Avatar f tn -- possible early onset diabetes -- neck issue (she did have a fusion a number of years ago of vertabrae in her upper neck) -- depression -- fibromyalgia (including a recommendation that she buy Fibromyalgia For Dummies) Depression runs in the family and she has been anxious lately. Any advice on what we can do to narrow the diagnosis? I am afraid that she is a bit psychosymatic (sorry for mispelling) and the more she reads on fibromyalgia, the more she seems to have the symptoms.
Avatar f tn i have suffered with many symptoms which my doctor has put down to fibromyalgia ive recently had a scan and been told i have a cyst adjecent to the left basal ganglia could this be the cause of my symptoms ?
Avatar m tn Physical therapy did nothing, neither did any of the stretches that were prescribed. I am also compounded with fibromyalgia and eventually I found myself in the unemployment office because in a matter of months both my feet had become a scary similar and searing pain.
Avatar f tn So I did, I've had numerous of appointments with the rheumatologist and I feel like I'm not getting anywhere. She keeps telling me it's Fibromyalgia and said I have Sjögren's syndrome. She also said my wrist and arms hurt because I might have tendinitis which I don't think it's that at all, and the hand doctor said I don't have tendinitis and doesn't think it's Fibromyalgia because now my other middle finger on the other hand is doing the same thing.
Avatar n tn So far I have been diagnosed with occipital neuralgia (pinched nerve at base of neck), TMJ, and 'mechanical' meaning misaligned spine, oh and almost-there-fibromyalgia. It just doesn't seem correct. I'm so beside myself on this. I feel that there is one thing causing all these symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and R.A. My tests for R.A. came out positive a couple of times then sometimes not. All I know is the pain. Sometimes my shoulders gets locked up and I can barely move them at all. The pain moves around my body. Now I have pain in my back that is extremely painful but there are no marks there. It even hurts to have a shirt on over it, it burns and aches. I did two rounds of Interferon and it seems since then I have had many health issues.
Avatar f tn Just wondering who on the board might have diagnoses of both MS and fibromyalgia. What are your most common symptoms of both? And a question for the medical experts here: does having one of the above disorders predispose you to having the other?
3795221 tn?1348163075 I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My family doctor referred me to a rheumatologist who diagnosed me. I have had a lot of pain that travels in my body. I have a constant migraine and back pain. My hands and feet are numb with bursts of electricity. The Rheumatologist prescribed Flexeril, Ambien and told me to go to a psychiatrist. I made an appointment with a psychiatrist a week ago and have since researched him online.
Avatar m tn Dr. Lowe from the Fibromyalgia Research Foundation supports the premise that most fibromyalgia patients are either hypothyroid or thyroid hormone resistant. The list of low thyroid function symptoms is pathetically long! Have you ever been tested for thyroid function? The preferred tests to get for accurate thyroid function are: Free T3,Free T4 and reverse T3. As a screening test for low thyroid, you can do Dr.
Avatar f tn I was absolutely terrified that I might have ms, but my doctor thinks that that is unlikely. Could this be Fibromyalgia? He's currently running blood tests, but can't find any inflammation- however he says that inflammation may take awhile to show up. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this might be? I'm really frightened and would be grateful for any help! Thank you!

You need to stay focused towards the improvement of your health and eventually healing. Race car drivers learn early on to see the track only and not the wall, as seeing the wall causes them to crash into it!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia years ago, among my many misdiagnosis. Many doctors believes fibromyalgia is Lyme because the symptoms are so similar. Sorry, I didn't see your other post this weekend but the answer would be to find an LLMD, take an IgeneX blood test and they could rule it in or out.

Avatar m tn An Mri of your spine and brain is also helpful. You have a right to ask for these tests. I went ten years with a misdiagnosis of fibromyalgia. MS is a complex disease that maifests itself in many ways, but many different autimmune diseases and nerve conditions can present the same way. You need more tests and a Dr that is willing to respect additional testing requests.
Avatar f tn Many people have migraines and also migraines are associated highly with Fibromyalgia. Along with this fibromyalgia and Multiple Sclerosis both are associated with the CNS (central nervous system). I myself have a couple of sisters DX with vertigo, another with Migraines, and myself I have Fibromyalgia and currently testing for MS So to sum up your question, it's possible for any of u to have DX of any of these conditions, it doesn't always have to relate to the exact same thing.
553995 tn?1332022440 This has been going on for 15 years under the misdiagnosis of Fibromyalgia. Am I angry, no. It is my belief that if I had gone on in life the way I was with no struggles, that I would not have developed into the person of depth I am today. For the past fifteen years I have been diagnosed BiPolar 2, a milder kind of mood swinger. Before getting sick the biggest problem I had with moods was premenstral.
620048 tn?1358021835 But, I guess the confusion or misdiagnosis may stem from the fact that, for both MS and fibromyalgia there is no one specific test to diagnosis someone with either disease. Additionally, both MS and fibromyalgia have a high degree of pain associated with them but the type of pain is different. Usually, fibromyalgia patients would have widespread whole body pain lasting more then 3 months which is associated with trigger/tender points in the body.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing health problems for two years now. My health has dramatically worsened in the past four months. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia around a year ago. I believe this is a misdiagnosis (I don't have the pressure points). My calcium level is 10.2. It bounces around alot. It was 9.8, 9.9, 9.0, and 10.2 within a one month span. My PTH is 32.4. I have a vitamin D deficiency with a level of 22. I just found out a few days ago that I have an abnormal blood protein level of 15.2.
Avatar f tn My previous Dr. diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. After doing tons of research online I was sure this was a misdiagnosis. I started seeing a new Dr. very recently and after the first set of tests she has determined that I have Lyme disease. After doing some reading I discovered that many of the Lyme disease sufferers have this symptom. I asked my original gp to do the lyme test and she said she did and it was negative. The new Dr.
Avatar n tn In 08/07 I wrote to you about problems I was having & you told me then that I had a heart attack. You had said about having a left heart catherization. I, at the time was waiting to do a stress test, after being released from a 3 day hospital stay for chest pain. All heart related tests including the stress test didn't show any problems so my Dr.
Avatar n tn Every diagnosis of CFS – based on any of the CFS definitions – can only ever be a misdiagnosis. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is an artificial construct created in the US in 1988 for the benefit of various political and financial vested interest groups. It is a mere diagnosis of exclusion (or wastebasket diagnosis) based on the presence of gradual or acute onset fatigue lasting 6 months.
Avatar f tn //www.webmd.com/fibromyalgia/guide/fibromyalgia-diagnosis-and-misdiagnosis I would suggest you make an appointment with a rheumatologist who understands fribro and have your diagnosis of fribo confirmed, this should additionally rule out other potential medical explanations and potentially lead to better treatments options for you. Cheers........
Avatar n tn If you genuinely feel as though you have Fibromyalgia and have at least 11 of the 13 tender points on your body.. Empower yourself, if you have to go through 10 docs, and it takes time because you already have other things in your life, I gather your a mom. Try the internet, emailing Docs and asking first if they believe in FM, some dont.. I would also advise (from personal experiance) not to see a Rhuematologist to get a FM diagnosis..
Avatar n tn I have suffered for years with chronic migraines/fibromyalgia/sleep disorder. My Dr. has had me take my BP at home because I usually get very nervous in the doctors office and it tends to be high. Lately when I am taking it...it averages around 128/90...is this cause for concern? I am very sensitive to meds so it is scary for me to try any new meds. I am not currently on any meds. I eat healthy...all organic, mostly vegetarian beans/rice, etc...
