Fibromyalgia misdiagnosis

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia misdiagnosis

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn At this time, there is no "cure" for fibromyalgia - one main reason being is they have not determined exactly what causes fibromyalgia. There are many thoughts and ideas on it, however, nothing has been scientifically proven/discovered. There also are no specific blood tests, scans, etc., for diagnosing fibromyalgia = there ARE certain critieria that need to be met before a true fibro diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and have been told I never had Fibromyalgia - that in order to be diagnosed officially and correctly that it has to be proven that the patient reacts badly to 8 lbs of pressure at the pressure points. I was poked. With a finger. Not a tool that reads pressure. When this doc that says I don't have fibro showed me on the machine what 8 lbs of pressure felt like, I couldn't believe it. It didn't hurt until 25 lbs. Now...
Avatar f tn My previous Dr. diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. After doing tons of research online I was sure this was a misdiagnosis. I started seeing a new Dr. very recently and after the first set of tests she has determined that I have Lyme disease. After doing some reading I discovered that many of the Lyme disease sufferers have this symptom. I asked my original gp to do the lyme test and she said she did and it was negative. The new Dr.

Additionally, both MS and fibromyalgia have a high degree of pain associated with them but the type of pain is different. Usually, fibromyalgia patients would have widespread whole body pain lasting more then 3 months which is associated with trigger/tender points in the body.
Avatar f tn Just wondering who on the board might have diagnoses of both MS and fibromyalgia. What are your most common symptoms of both? And a question for the medical experts here: does having one of the above disorders predispose you to having the other?
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing health problems for two years now. My health has dramatically worsened in the past four months. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia around a year ago. I believe this is a misdiagnosis (I don't have the pressure points). My calcium level is 10.2. It bounces around alot. It was 9.8, 9.9, 9.0, and 10.2 within a one month span. My PTH is 32.4. I have a vitamin D deficiency with a level of 22.
Avatar n tn If you genuinely feel as though you have Fibromyalgia and have at least 11 of the 13 tender points on your body.. Empower yourself, if you have to go through 10 docs, and it takes time because you already have other things in your life, I gather your a mom. Try the internet, emailing Docs and asking first if they believe in FM, some dont.. I would also advise (from personal experiance) not to see a Rhuematologist to get a FM diagnosis..
Avatar f tn I went to a Rheumatologist to get evaluated for EDS and was basically told that I needed to see a geneticist for that. When I explained that I feel an awful sense of craniocervical instability which has been confirmed by a PT eval and that from what I researched the hypermobile form of EDS can't be dx'd genetically, she just looked at me. I also have a retroflexed odontoid.

Avatar n tn Can an Obgyn give a misdiagnosis (be wrong) after 2 months? Could he have been wrong after doing a physical examination? Can a blood test be wrong as well after 2 months?
