Fibromyalgia medication side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia medication side effects

fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn s always a good idea to read the information the pharmacy includes with the medication so you are aware of what side effects are possible and what side effects may be something you need to contact your prescriber about. But yes, Headaches can be a side effect of beginning the medication. Usually ear ringing is associated with stopping the medication but has been reported while beginning it also in some.
Avatar f tn When I started treatment they warned me of the side effects, flu like symptoms, depression, headaches and all that good stuff, but the treatment wasn't too bad, they started me on an anti-depressant and medication for my headaches. But for the last yr or more I have been having the flu like symptoms, major body aches mostly in my upper torso, back problems and I have had every test imaginable done to figure out why I am in so much pain everyday. Some days are better than others.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Savella for three months. The drug is incredible in relieving fibromyalgia pain. However, the side effects are horrible. Horrible sweats and hot flashes, constipation, insomnia, nausea, and during the past week I have passed out four times. I have decreased my dosage from 100 mg. to 12.5 mg. per day. I have decided that this drug is dangerous. Just read the hundreds of reviews. Savella reacts with different people in different ways.
Avatar f tn I took it for about 5 months. The first month was horrid to get use to the side effects. I was feeling "stoned", looopy and dizzy. Then it was 3 months of definate relief. It helped the pain. Then the side effects started getting worse. My brain fog was so intense I could hardly hold a conversation.
Avatar f tn gabapentin often requires 1800mg / day to work (built up slowly over time), while pregabalin can be effective at 150mg TID. And the change of side effects build as the does is increased. If cost is an issue, since gabapentin can be effective for neuropathic pain (at high doses) I'd try the gabapentin first and see what happens. If it doesn't work, then i'd try the Lyrica.
Avatar n tn I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
Avatar f tn Actually there is no weight gain! That is one of the benefits of this medication b/c it is like cymbalta (sp?). For me there were some side effects, but they subsided after a week or so. I got a lot of hot flashes, but they are gone now.
690327 tn?1255354511 t without serious side-effects. I pray you are getting some relief for yours because I see how much pain she is in. Feel better soon and take care of yourself.
Avatar m tn So, I am not a doctor, but one of the side effects I am reading about from Topamax is an increased ammonia level in the blood. Then I read that heightened ammonia in blood can lead to kidney stones, hair loss and confusion...all side effects of Topamax. So, my thinking is that adding water and maybe some milk thistle or other liver supporting supplements may help tip the balance back.
Avatar m tn Had anyone seen a rheumatoid specialist for this condition? Are they offering any treatments for it, other than the standard antidepressant treatment? Those treatments don't work for me, and there is no need to waste the money seeing a specialist for an antidepressant treatment that a family doctor could give me. My symptoms of chronic fatigue seemed to start with Epstein Barr, now I have the joint/nerve pain.
Avatar m tn ve responded very well to medications like Neurontin, Lyrica and Topamax. Keppra is another one that has been recommended to me. The key really is finding which side effects are the best to deal with. It's really an individual thing. I couldn't handle the weight gain, tiredness and bloating that I felt while on Lyrica, although it helped me immensely with pain. Lyrica is an anti-seizure medication too.
735919 tn?1236444549 I too took Lyrica but unfortunately it did not work for me. I had too many of the side effects including blurry vision and severe forgetfulness. Cymbalta gives me migraines and I have just weaned myself off of that as well. I don't know what's next.
Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?
Avatar n tn Since your panic attacks are happening less, are the headaches numerous and a reason that you cannot take the medication anymore? Or are some of the side effects okay with you now that your anxiety is much better? What does your prescribing doctor say about this? Headaches can also be caused by an endless number of factors in my opinon. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you still under a lot of stress? The point is, that the headaches may not even be related to the medication itself.
Avatar f tn Hi I was wondering how many people have had any side effects from taking 15 mg a day of hyrdrocortisone. I'm supposed to start that and I would like to know what my chances of side effects are for this dosage so I can be prepared. has anyone has any facial swelling or neck swelling with this dosage? or mood changes? I know this is on the lower end dosage-wise but I'm just curious about peoples experiences. I'm supposed to take in for adrenal insufficiency FYI. Thanks!
