Fibromyalgia medication fatigue

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia medication fatigue

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn You've never treated so I don't know if you understand the difference between fatigue caused by hemolytic anemia and that of generalized fatigue. No amount of pain medication will help with hemolytic anemia when you're gasping for breath and any type of exertion causes you're muscles to start rebelling. The only thing that helps relieve that type of pain is Epogen. Doctors don't generally prescribe pain medication for fatigue.
Avatar n tn Chronic pain, Sleeplessness, Anxiety and Fatigue may be symptoms of Fibromyalgia or other conditions like Chronic Fatigue syndrome. There are many other conditions that mimic the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia is based on the presence of tender points. These tender spots are particularly located in the neck, back, shoulders and hips. There are 18 points on body for tenderness in patients of this condition.
939964 tn?1288017024 I was waiting anxiously when I heard this medication was very helpful for fibromyalgia patients, and coming to Canada. To my dismay I had all the side effects mentioned for this medication and was told by my doctor to stop taking it. Like Doctor Rajgopal mentioned about medications, I was given amitriptyline which helps me have a good night sleep and I feel more refreshed when I wake up.
Avatar n tn I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I've tried all of the meds they are currently prescribing for this. Has anyone tried alternative treatment for this? If so, did it work for you?
Avatar m tn After the endoscopy we were given the diagnosis of chronic fatigue / fibromyalgia . Having been initially relieved that we finally had a diagnosis we are now starting to think differently. Once you have been tarred with this brush it would appear the doctors are not interested. My concern is how quickly this diagnosis has been made. I've read people can wait years before getting this confirmed as tests for all other conditions are looked into.
1100837 tn?1267668675 My advice is to begin at a low dose 25mg per day and increase to no more than 25mg per week if you chose to begin this medication. This one you need to increase slowly on to get your body used to it. Fatigue can be a side effect, but most people I've talked to actually gained energy from the medication including myself. In fact, I haven't talked to one person who got tired on it. Weight loss is also a side effect in many people, which is a huge plus.
Avatar n tn Complaints of fatigue and joint pains are, unfortunately, very common. fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by muscular aches and pains, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. It is much more common in women, and it can be debilitating. Many conventional medical doctors do not think that fibromyalgia exists. In fact, many patients who believe they have this condition are often derided by their doctors.

Avatar f tn I have to switch my meds. I have depression and fibromyalgia and am on Cymbalta, but it doesn't seem to be helping me.....my doctor suggested Prozac since it is known to help fatigue better than the other antidepressants (supposedly). Thank you.
Avatar m tn I'm 33 years old and this started about 3 yrs ago and has been getting progressively worse since. I'm not aware of any similar family history. I'm not sure that this feel like fibromyalgia (although I'm not too familiar with it). This isn't pain so much as it is extreme fatigue. After I do strenuous activities, my muscles tend to tremble, get very weak and painful at that point. I've also been experiencing memory loss (not sure if this is related...
Avatar f tn My doctor thinks I may have FM or CFS. I am having a test for sleep apnea tonight. I have been prescribed Provigil for the fatigue. My question is this..When you feel 'fatigued' does it affect your mind as well as your body? I know that some of you say your head is 'in a fog'. My head is almost always clear. It seems to be my body that is extremely weak and fatigued; also all of my mucles ache(almost feels as if the bones hurt) all over my body, especially my legs.
Avatar f tn You could have Fibromyalgia or an Under active thyroid (Hypothyroidism) have a look on the Internet and you will find most of your symptoms are listed in both of these medical issues. I suffer from both and there is medication and treatment. An Underactive Thyroid can be tested for in a blood test and you can get a hormone replacement and you are usually on it for life. In the UK this prescription is free.

Avatar m tn t work for me, and there is no need to waste the money seeing a specialist for an antidepressant treatment that a family doctor could give me. My symptoms of chronic fatigue seemed to start with Epstein Barr, now I have the joint/nerve pain. I recently saw a medical acupuncturist for treatment, and this quack doctor discounted everything I told her about the Epstein Barr virus, and told me that this whole condition was in my head, and I needed antidepressants.

Avatar n tn The option was surgery (ablation) or medication for the rest of my life. I opted for the surgery. Now I am having lots of medical problems. It started with being tired. I now sleep 9 - 10 hours at night and take a nap. I have my own business but it has really suffered. During the last 3 months I have been having pain. It feels like acid is running under my skin. I have it in my arms and in my ankles radiating up to my knees. I have "good" days and "bad" days.
Avatar m tn Has anyone ruled out chronic fatigue syndrome in you or fibromyalgia? They are two disorders that need looking into. Good luck!
Avatar f tn But when I became the age of 30 I started having problems with a lot of pain, fatigue and I had problems sleeping at night. I was dx with fibromyalgia, I also always had problems with allergies, I would constantly break out in hives. At that time My doctor put me on medication for fibromyalgia and I was on it for a while but I didn't really notice a difference. I just felt zombielike so I stopped taking the medicine.
Avatar n tn Hi I am assuming that you are talking about fibromyalgia which affects muscles and soft tissues of the body leading to chronic pain and fatigue. The treatment options are: Medications: • Analgesics : Acetaminophen, tramadol, NSAIDS etc • Antidepressants • Muscle relaxants. • Pregabalin Non Medication options: • Behavior therapy • Reduction of stress • Regular exercise • Healthy diet. You should consult your doctor about the medication and non medication options that are available for you.
Avatar f tn I don't believe for a minute that anyones intentions here are to "scare" people. There are members here who are disabled and they know the truth. My intentions for this board is to share information, opinions, research and treatments. Sharing facts is not a negative outlook at all. Look..... fibromyalgia is a relatively new disease (I refer to it as a disease) and little is known about it. The same goes for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed at the beginning of the year with fibromyalgia. dr. gave me lyrica samples and it was like a wonder drug. the pain was minimal and my afternoon exhaustion was gone. i went to fill the prescription and the insurance denied coverage and said it was "experimental". now, my dr. was not 100% certain that it was fibro. he said that i had a lot of sensory issues that made him under sure. i think that is why the insurance denied coverage. soooo, he tried me on gapapinten.
Avatar f tn muscle and/or joint pain, debilitating fatigue, headaches, memory loss, difficulty with concentration. Patients with fibromyalgia often have chronic fatigue syndrome as well. Coginitive behaviour therapy is quite helpful in chronic fatigue syndrome and you can go in for this. There is no medication available that can treat CFS specifically, but different medicines like pain killers and antidepressants are quite useful.

The worse thing to me is the fatigue, I feel like I'm exhausted every day all day !! I also recently have something new happening, My legs will start itching then a bruise will appear on my top thigh, not a normal looking bruise but like little purple and black dots. I have 3 now in about the past 3 months.
