thanks for responding. I did take neurontin with no help. The lyrica helps dull the pain but causes severe swelling of the feet, legs & hands so I had to quit taking it. I have been offered pain meds but will do so only as a last resort because they make me sleep 4 to 6 hours each dose. Good luck. Let me know if acupuncture helps. If so I might try that.

Usually conditions of heart, kidney, liver or low protein or severe anemia, which cause ankle and leg swelling cause both ankles to swell. Hence if both ankles and leg are swelling then you will need to get heart function assessed by ECHO and EKG, TMT, get kidney and liver function tests done and get a complete blood picture for anemia. Low sodium in blood, hypothyroidism and malabsorption syndromes causing low protein in blood have to be looked into. Hope this helps.

I continue to have swelling in the instep of my foot, which gets much worse causing knotty swelling around the instep, ankle and up my leg. The pain in pretty disabling.
