Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia leg swelling

fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn Is it in one leg or both? Is the leg warm to the touch, red? Is it painful?
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to MedHelp. As far as I can tell, you do have symptoms that look like fibromyalgia. A rhematologist is the kind of dr. that dxes this. They will check for pressure points. There is also a tilt table test that can help decide if it is fibro or chronic fatigue.
Avatar f tn For me this unexpected journey into the domain of constant pain started in my left foot, then I experienced swelling and pain in my left leg, shortly after in my right leg. I can no longer walk more than 10 to 15 minutes before my legs give out on me. Once I was diagnosed properly and receive pain-management as well as physical therapy and hydro-gymnastic several times a week I have had periods of time that were almost free of pain but also flare-ups that totally destroy my quality of life.
211043 tn?1337054301 However, everything seems to be hitting the fan this week and with recent symptoms, I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't fibromyalgia. I know he can check for that too though, so I thought I'd get some opinions here. A brief history: I'm 31, and for the past I'd say 8 years I've been battling illness after illness, (including 2 bouts of mono - the second of which was just last year) constantly feeling tired and achy and almost always having a sore throat and swollen glands.
Avatar f tn I am a 32 year old female from Delaware who was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 9 years ago.
927983 tn?1321887689 Hello all, for the past three years, I've been experiencing flares that are getting progressively worse. My first flares involved my extremities (swelling, numbness and/or pain), migraines, dizziness, vision changes, and some issues with thinking/memory. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia two years ago, as well as cluster migraines. I was told the issues in my extremities was peripheral neuropathy.
Avatar f tn I have been treated for fibromyalgia for over a year now. The dr. never really stated I have fibro. I'm being treated for high cholesterol and trigylcerides. I'm taking welchol powder once a day and trilipex for this. I'm taking lyrica 150mg. bid and mirapex at bedtime. I went to get a lab slip yesterday for blood work and was informed i needed to be fasting for my cholesterol and trigy. levels.I have never been told this before. When I first started with this dr.
1442701 tn?1286387587 I know of no neurological condition that would preclude you from having Fibromyalgia and I can't think of anything in Fibromyalgia that would preclude you from having a neurological condition. Changes in speech make me think like a zombie: BRAINs If you have trigger point activation in the known Fibro trigger points, I'd think Fibro. If you have both, think comorbidity. Easy. But then again, I didn't go to Med School.
Avatar f tn I'm 31 and after 6 long years of chronic problems unexplained I have finally been diagnoised with Fibromyalgia and Lymphdema. Sorry about spelling. Anyway I was wondering if anyone out there has had either one and if so what kind of treatment may have work for you. They say both conditions are chronic and there is no known cure for either.
Avatar n tn It came on my left foot, then leg and sometimes right foot. Then it showed up on my left arm and the left side of my face 2 1/2 months ago. My GP ordered and MRI with and without:normal. Did labs of CBC, CHEM 7, thyroid, lupus , not sure what else: all normal. I saw a neuro last week. Did exam:normal. Says does not look like MS or other problem and to come back if worse or lose fx. So, What can I do to relieve this numbness?
Avatar n tn I have cerebral palsy, over weight and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Now my right foot has swollen across the top, and then it goes down, never hurts, all of the blood work was normal on three different occassions since late November. What is wrong with me?? Help!
1445110 tn?1388213311 I decided to just do a journal about this because I seem to not ask my questions right in the forum and usually they get bypassed. I know that I have asked others on here if they have swelling in their legs from possibly low Vit D or is this just a side effect of hypothyroidism or what. I am really starting to get concerned about it. Now I am starting to feel like I am swelling all over sometimes. Even the other night I had this strange sensation like my brain was swelling.
Avatar n tn The doctor gave me a steroid injection called Kenalog and said the swelling should go away within 24 hours. The swelling did go down throughout the day, but the aching continued. I started getting painful areas on my skin( palms of my hands, outsides of my knees and my tailbone). My hips ached so badly i could barely walk, but i just gave it time per doctors orders. Oce again i awoke the next morning with the same itchy "hives".
365931 tn?1198073762 I have been having leg pain for the last 5 years and now it is veru severe. I am on oxy cocete during the night because I work steady night shift as a night shift manager for the Home Depot. I start work at 8 pm and after a couple of hours of walking around my right hip begins to throb. By 12 pm I have pain shooting down my leg. By 2 am I am in a lot of pain. That would be 8 out of 10 on the pain scale.
Avatar m tn I just found my foot and abdomen are swelling today. I m wondering if lyrica is the culprit or it's either a new fibromyalgia symptom.
Avatar n tn Do you think it is possible to have DVT in the vena cava region that leads to swelling in only one leg? I guess there may be swelling in both legs, but more in the left leg. It is hard for me to tell because I have no measurements of my right leg before the accident. I've been having other circulation problems at night. For example, I once woke up in the middle of the night and my right hand was numb from the wrist to the tips of my fingers (like it had fallen asleep).
Avatar f tn The rheumatologist sent me for more bloodwork but after listening to my symptoms and poking around on my trigger points, he diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. My lupus tests came back negative but the ANA was again positive. I was then told the rheumatologist couldn't treat my fibromyalgia and to take motrin. Ooookay!
Avatar f tn For about a year now my lower back ,hip, leg, and foot have hurt. They did an MRI and said there is no pinched nerve. The Dr. gave me a steriod shot in the hip but it hasent worked. My muscle feels like it is drawig, my foot goes numb and stings, it also hurts around the bunion area. The Neurologist said i have perhiperial nerve damage, but no one can tell me what is causing all these sypmtoms.
Avatar n tn Legs: very acute Sciatica prodominently in the right leg but also in the left leg that makes walking very difficult and painful, mainly as this also induces a severe shooting pain. His right foot is swollen and painful to stand on, the middle toe is badly swollen and there is also a severe pain in the ball of the foot just behind the big toe. Lower Back: Continues to be painful especially with a sharp pain when undertaking any movement. Upper Body: Sharp pain in the front of his chest.
Avatar f tn Do you experience panic attacks? Certainly fibromyalgia can cause the other symptoms you mention. It sounds like all of the other testing you've had doesn't bring any more serious forms of illness, so that's a good thing. I feel that you would do well speaking with a rheumatologist, as they have more knowledge of fibro and it's diagnosis. God bless and keep you.
Avatar n tn Over a year ago was in a car accident and my muscles and joints hurt so bad most of the time its hard to have a normal day. Its not arthritis or lupus and Dr's are now saying fibromyalgia..I also have extreme burning in my joints and neck is this also a symptom of fibromyalgia?
Avatar m tn In 2009 I started getting really sick. Super tired lymph nodes swelling swollen and painful joints feet felt numb and cold all the time Under rib cage started hurting (costocondritis) when talking or coughing Diverinticulitis Intestial Cystitis First they thought it was hodgkins lymphoma (nope) Went to a rhemantologist and continued to have many symptoms that mimiced Lupus but no positive ANA's and all other blood work was normal. I have had a hundred different blood tests.
5792451 tn?1390938290 Low carb or no carb diets help the inflammation a lot, as well as slowing down the reproduction and motility of spirochetes, whose favorite fuels are sugars/carbs. You should ask your doc about trying an herbal protocol, such as Cowden, Buhner, or Byron White. Try to lay low on the dairy as well, and stay away from high fructose corn syrup.
Avatar f tn And the week before my period is just AWFUL with the leg/arm/hand cramping and under eye swelling increased. Why do my symptoms worsen during pms????? Just needed a place to rant. I'm wondering if I should push try to suppress my TSH, and looking for proof on the internet that it DOES help so that I can print it out and show my doctor next visit. (Any suggestions for websites or studies will be very appreciated.) I have ordered copies of my labs, and will get them on the 14th.
Avatar n tn Over the past several months (probably since late October or early November,) I've been having severe joint pain and swelling, accompanied by chronic fatigue, headaches, limited range in movement, and occasional fever and/or nausea. I also have a very hard time sleeping, and have experienced what feel like heart palpitations, or racing of the heart at completely sporadic times. I've been to the doctor four times for this, and two rounds of bloodwork have been done.
Avatar n tn I am so glad that I am not alone with this weird leg swelling an pain.maybe birth control will help but for now I am willing to try advil for the pain.
Avatar f tn As some of you know, my main complaints have been pain, mostly arthritis pain along with fibromyalgia pain, and RSD pain, which came after 9 surgeries on my hand, which ultimately failed. I've been on a ton of medications over the past several years. Since last June I've been on the Fentanyl patch, 75 mcg every 48 hours, oxycodone 30 mg. 1 to 1.5 pills every 4 hours, 800 mg. advil as needed, the lidoderm patch, a compounding cream as needed, ambien as needed for sleep.
Avatar f tn Hello Everyone, I'm unsure if should go to a doctor about this as I would feel so silly walking in and saying 'I think I have fibromyalgia. I suffer with a lot of the symptoms I found on a list, Anxiety, Swelling of extremity's, Mood swings, lots and lots of those types of symptoms.
Avatar f tn In addition to the pain, have you noticed any swelling (or water retention)? Is the pain equally as bad in both legs? You mentioned that sometimes you have to take a pain killer to ease the pain - what type of pain medication are you taking? Do you have any other medical conditionis? I'm sorry I'm not much help here other than asking additional questions - I'm hoping maybe some of the additional answers may give me, and some of the other members, a better idea as to what is going on.
