Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia leg pain at night

fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn A satellite myofascial point is a highly irritable spot in a muscle that becomes inactive because the muscle is in the region of another trigger pain. The pain of fibromyalgia is generalized, occurring above and below the waist and on both sides of the body. On the other hand, myofascial pain is more often described as occurring in a more limited area of the body, for example, only around the shoulder and neck, and on only one side of the body. Take care and regards !
Avatar n tn Hi Thanks for writing to the forum! Leg pain that occurs at night, leg falling asleep at night is generally due to atherosclerosis of the leg blood vessels. “As atherosclerosis progresses and blockage becomes more severe, a burning/aching pain in the feet and toes will occur particularly at night time while lying flat. This pain, known as rest pain, occurs because the arteries of the leg can no longer deliver adequate blood flow to the feet, even at rest.
Avatar n tn ) Other thing it is helping with is my Raynauds. My hands and feet aren't constantly cold. I don't get that tingling sensation (pins and needles or feet going to sleep, but for me it's liek the whole leg or the hands). I have to check back in with my doctor next month. These are things for you to ask the doctor about the brain fog. I guess every pill has a side effect. You just have to figure out which you'd rather have.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have experienced a great deal of pain in my back, hip, leg, and ankle (among other things including fibromyalgia) for quite a long time now. The first time I went to doc w/back pain, I was put on anti-inflammatory meds which worked for a while. Next, each time it acted up, I was given a round of steroids which helped sometimes. Following an MRI, I was told a disc was buldging and pinching a nerve. This led to a lumbar epidural shot. This worked for 3 yrs (I was lucky).
Avatar n tn I have gone to a family doctor who put me on Requip for Restless Leg Syndrome which does not help at all and Ambien for sleep ( which also does nothing) I am at my wits end and so miserable at night that it is not funny. Does anyone know what this could be and how to get treatment now so I can have a normal life?
Avatar n tn I listen to a lot of loud high energy rock to help me focus on work and keep my mind off pain at night. If the pain from one thing gets out of control, it pushes my FM pain upward too.
365931 tn?1198073762 By 12 pm I have pain shooting down my leg. By 2 am I am in a lot of pain. That would be 8 out of 10 on the pain scale. Then by 3 if I make it that far I am in very severe pain right into my toes and across the bottom of my foot. I sometimes cant make it through my shift and have to leave early. I come home and have to go on morphine tablets because I am now on a 12 out of 10 on the pain scale. I find morphine nor oxy cocete does not even touch the pain at all.
358486 tn?1294779988 As a fibro patient you are aware that we dont sleep correctly, or get real sleep because the pain wakes us up through out the night, without us even knowing it. The pain effects every muscle, every ligament and tendon, and every movement we make hurts. I used to be uneducated and believed that Fibro was just psychosomatic, until I became educated and know better now.

Avatar f tn Hi, Can you be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia but only experience pain at night? Every night about 20 minutes after I lay down my body aches on the side I am laying on. It starts to ache and throb so bad that I need to switch sides. Then the other side aches and throbs so I flip-flop all night long but never really get relief. I feel like I am 100 years old when I try to turn from one side to the other.
209591 tn?1267418314 Many times the cats (5) don't go out and stay in the house at night. When Frieda says in she bugs me at night until I let her out at 4 am. I just woke up myself after a good nap. Sleep sure gets screwy with this stuff. It seems I do sleep better now that I have the Lyrica, just want this fatigue to go away, so I can do something, besides lay around. I need to ask my dr. about that drug.
291885 tn?1404896807 Hi chel, I just saw your post and I can relate. I have been having heart palps, anxiety, and it seems to occur mostly at night. I went hyper recently, so now I am having to wait for all that to get out of my system. Being patient is not an easy thing to do. I have gotten so sick, that all I can do is lay around. I have been doing research to see what causes this, and I have not come up with anything yet. Hope you are doing better..........
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response-Yes at least I am not falling asleep at my desk anymore or at dinner in the middle of a conversation! Getting a proper delta sleep has improved my muscular pain-not that I don't have the pain anymore but it is not as exruciatingly painful now. Its great to hear you have a new doctor who seems to be giving you all the right messages. I have a great relationship with my rheumatologist ever since she said to me "Look at me Mary, look at me straight into my eyes.
Avatar f tn every test he took it came back normal. I thought when u have FM u would have pain on both sides of the body for instance..
Avatar n tn In the last 2 years I have had constant aching pain in my legs and feet and this pain affects my sleep and daily life. The pain is constant often worsening at night and when I awaken in the mornings. I have had a complete MRI of my spine with no major problems identified. I have given up smoking 6mnths ago. What could be the cause? I am at my wits end as the GP is no help in diagnosing the problem. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Avatar n tn I have that EXACT thing..... not restless leg...... but ACHEY... at night when I am in bed. I wished I knew what it was too. Have had for quite awhile!! Tylnol doesn't help much, only my Vicodin. But don't want to take that all the time. I have bought some spray at the health store called PAIN NO MORE. Shake the bottle and spray all over you legs before you go to bed. (don't get in your eyes and make sure you are wearing underware) This has helped me the most.
Avatar n tn It used to come on late at night and reside by the morning. It is a pain in my bone not muscular. I had an MRI and CT scan of my lower back and that ruled out nerve damage or herniated disc. In the last few weeks I have been getting the pain much earlier and over the last few days it has not subsided to the point where it actually hurts to walk on my leg. The pain feels like it is in my bones from my ankle through to my hip and only on the left side.
Avatar f tn I have been having pain in the upper outer part of my thigh that runs from the hip to the back part of my knee and lower back pain on the same side. It feels like the tissue/muscle is where the pain is. But duren the night it seems the pain goes all the way to the bone. Plus there is pain when the area is touched-sensitivity. I want to scream because the pain is so bad. I notice that the pain begins when i sit longer then 2 minuts. or lay on that side too long.
Avatar n tn last doc said its either fibromyalgia or restless leg syndrome but I believe she was giving up. Pain only at evening and no pain meds alleviate pain, hot bath takes pain away until I get out of the bath, it comes right back, next morning the pain is gone ...my mother has syringomyelia and arnold chiari, I was tested for both but nothing, aunt has ms....im clueless as to what to do or what specialist to see...help!!!!
Avatar f tn I also had numbness starting in my feet that would go up to my legs, neck pain, headaches, vision problems, light and noise sensitivity, relentless insomnia followed by pain, pain, and more pain. On top of the Gabapentin they also give me Amytriptylin. It helps me to sleep at night. When sleep deprived my symptoms really burst open and the pain gets unbareable.
1564938 tn?1295223828 Having Degenerative Disc Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis and fibromyalgia, I will try to answer your question. My RA is in my joints only. Fibro is all over discomfort. If you have pressure points where it REALLY hurts when you press on it, like back of your neck, your shoulders, then you could have fibromyalgia. See a Rheumatologist to really get answers. Lyrica has been my saving grace! Nothing takes away all the pain, but that and elavil at night really really help me.
Avatar f tn I always have pain an pretty sure its not in my head i can do nothing at all an be stiff cuz sat to long or from standing to long i can work all day an usually ill come home feeling like i got hit by a train or something leg knee pain hip pain always back pain i also have anxiety an depression i no. 211043 tn?1337054301 Sounds like you have a lot more than the fibro going on. So do I, but at least it is working for now and pain meds just sort of ease the pain....so I am greatful for that!
Avatar f tn This exhaustion and tiredness excreased as did the left sided twitches. Even at night I started having severe jerking of legs, toe, shoulder, deep inside ribs. Weird, but if you were close watch out because my legs would twitch hard. Then it was impossible to be woken up. I would sleep for 20 hours or so, do this for a week then ok for awhile then back. I also was having headaches, numbness in left finger tips.At times one finger would go numb, then the next then go to next.
Avatar n tn The diagnosis of fibromyalgia is clinical and based on diffuse muscluoskeletal pain, which is often worse at night. The diffuse tenderness is most prominent in the neck and shoulders, along the spine and in knees and upon deep palpation at what are known as trigger points. Your symptoms seem to be too widely spread and muscle twitching is evident which is really not a part of fibro. It is difficult to tell you what the movement induced twitching might be from.
Avatar n tn hi I have had this problem since I can remember prob very early teens, normally one leg at a time but sometimes both, on the first day of my period both hips kill and the pain is also normally in my thighs or lower leg, but leading up to my period it tends to be in the bottom of my legs(calves) or my thigh. have been crying with pain before now and had to stay in bed in one position and just concentrate on the pain as that helps slightly.
Avatar f tn In addition, I have many of its symptoms such as IBS, restless leg syndrome, depression, chronic pain, leg spasms, limb twitching and involuntary moment, flu like symptoms daily, osteoporosis, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease involving 6 bulging disc, bone spurs down my spine, and stenosis. It is very difficult but I guess it could always be worse. I had to stop working a year and a half ago.
Avatar f tn ewford, I have IBS, pain in my legs mostly. The leg pain feels like a deep aching in the bone? it's hard to describe. Some days it's hardly there and others it hurts so bad I can hardly walk. I do have neck pain but I chalked that up to being in a couple of car wrecks. I have had numb feet for around 10 yrs. that several drs. never could figure out. I have nerve tests( to what extint I don't know) The cholesterol I found out about 3 yrs.ago. I do have tinnitus all the time!
927983 tn?1321887689 I wake up often at night because of pain, and never feel rested. I have IBS and issues emptying my bladder completely. Most of my weird electric shocks of pain sensations are happening on my right side. I don't know what to do, and am waiting for my new internist to receive my medical records from my old doctor. I'm currently flaring badly, in a lot of pain and even writing this out is taking a lot of effort. editing and re-editing. Thoughts?
