Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia leg pain at night

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Hi, I have experienced a great deal of pain in my back, hip, leg, and ankle (among other things including fibromyalgia) for quite a long time now. The first time I went to doc w/back pain, I was put on anti-inflammatory meds which worked for a while. Next, each time it acted up, I was given a round of steroids which helped sometimes. Following an MRI, I was told a disc was buldging and pinching a nerve. This led to a lumbar epidural shot. This worked for 3 yrs (I was lucky).
Avatar f tn but realize it is my eyes. At night when I go down my stairs and into my kitchen (without lights on) the only light coming in is from two windows so it is dark. When I close my left eye I can not see out of my right eye. It does clear up a little if I wait long enough but there is something going on. Could you list the possibilities please? Thanks in advanced for your help. Carol...
Avatar f tn I then have to lay in bed for a minute or two to let the pain go away. It only happens when i have to pee though, and only at night. Could it be from being curled up and stretching my leg to fast, or how the baby is laying on my bladder? Also i dont think i have a uti because i just went to the doctors Tuesday and they didnt say anything about a uti.
Avatar n tn I've been having left leg pain - only at night. The pain is dull, nagging pain throughout my entire leg that doesn't go away with a massage or moving around. This pain has been bothering me after I had a baby. However, before I was pregnant, my legs falls asleep while I'm asleep. When I get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, I would fall flat on my face. I'm not sure if these two correlated, but thought I should mention it. Any info would be appreciated!
1548028 tn?1324612446 My son gets terrible shocks in his legs at night (during day too but really bad at night). He says sometimes they are quick but sometimes they are lasting for several minutes. I know he is having a lot of trouble sleeping. He says he just gets to sleep and the pains start over. Any suggestions or tricks to help these? He takes Neurotin 1200mg-1600mg/day.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is widespread pain throuout the entire body,it actually hurts to be touched.Maybe a possible pinched nerve or sciatica?
Avatar n tn Fibromyalgia is another cause of leg pain at night. Generally, though, there is pain involving other areas in addition to the leg. Low back pain and leg pain that is not relieved by lying down may be caused by a tumor in the cauda equina (the roots of the spinal nerves controlling sensation in and movement of the legs), or a cancer that has spread to the spine from the prostate, breasts, or lungs.
Avatar f tn Hi, Fibromyalgia can cause chronic deep muscle pain. There are many ways to decrease this muscle pain and one of them is water exercises or water aerobic. Warm water will be very comforting. The exercise will increase the blood flow to the muscles and tendons and thereby decrease the pain. http://www.webmd.
Avatar n tn However when I lay down on my side to go to sleep at night and lay my right leg on my left leg the pain starts. I simply can not let anything tough my left knee area. This only occurrs when I lay on my side (left or right) . My only option is to lay on my back and as I'm a "side sleeper" I toss all night and get up in the morning exhaused. This has been going on for three years now and the lack of sleep is really taking its toll on me.
Avatar n tn I get stabbing pin like sensation all ovr my body. I am tired and achy. I get very little sleep. Have night sweats and at times chills. What is wrong with me. i am 54 and female.
Avatar f tn When I try to lay down at night I get horrible restless legs and it makes it almost impossible to fall asleep. Any suggestions?
689327 tn?1240229164 I clicked on this site cuz my left leg is hurting so bad at night, I hate to quit reading, turn off the light, and try to go to sleep, knowing the pain I will have. I try to get as tired as possible, hoping to sleep through the pain...no such luck most nights. Even if I fall asleep for a bit, I move a bit and realize again how bad it hurts. So hard to explain the pain...it is excruciating..feels like it is in the bone, the muscle, tissue, skin....crushing, burning, aching, AWFUL.
Avatar n tn I have this terrible burning feeliing and PAIN in my upper right leg and I can hardly walk without squeezing my leg with my right hand on the burning spot. Now it has went into my groin and knee. I had Guillan-Barre-Syndrome which is the nerves attacking the imune system. Is this related? HURTING BIG TIME!
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have problems with one or both of your arms falling asleep at night. It doesn't matter if I lay on my right or left side, or on my back. My right arm keeps falling asleep at night.
Avatar m tn I am 78 years old and for about a month now I have been experiencing leg pain, mainly at night. At first it was in the lower left leg on the front left side. Over the past few days the pain has reduced in the lower leg and is now quite severe in the thigh area, once again the left leg only. I can fell it a little during the day, but it is bad enough at night to wake me up. I play gold twice a week (18 holes) and walk my dog for 45 minutes every day.
Avatar f tn I am not extremly active but not a couch potato either. My problem is that when I go to sleep at night my shoulder, arm, hip and leg muscle ache and throb on the side I am laying on. I have to flip-flop all night long every 15 to 20 minutes to get relief on that side only to have it happen on the new side I just turned onto. It is very annoying. I don't sleep much during the night anymore. I come in and out of sleep waking to pain and throbing.
Avatar f tn every test he took it came back normal. I thought when u have FM u would have pain on both sides of the body for instance..
690327 tn?1255354511 Fibromyalgia has to be one of the worst things I have had yet, but, I am sure thre will be something worse! That seems to be that with life. I never used to be ill much at all, even though at 16 I was told I had Rheumatoid Arthritis. Now, I have those plus, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, IBS, Restless leg syndrome. Do you think I am falling apart?!HA! Not funny! The Fibro is absolutley got me. I am in pain all day every day!
Avatar f tn It started out feeling like my bones were aching then i started to have pain in my left leg , shoulders, neck and back. And paresthesia in my left arm. I went to the emergency room and the doctor and was told it was sciatica and tense muscles probsbly from stress.. after about 3 weeks of this the leg pain and paresthesia went away but i was still having neck and back pain, headaches, muscle twitches . Now i just started having those same symptoms in my rifht side.
211043 tn?1337050701 Sounds like you have a lot more than the fibro going on. So do I, but at least it is working for now and pain meds just sort of ease the pain....so I am greatful for that!
Avatar f tn This exhaustion and tiredness excreased as did the left sided twitches. Even at night I started having severe jerking of legs, toe, shoulder, deep inside ribs. Weird, but if you were close watch out because my legs would twitch hard. Then it was impossible to be woken up. I would sleep for 20 hours or so, do this for a week then ok for awhile then back. I also was having headaches, numbness in left finger tips.At times one finger would go numb, then the next then go to next.
Avatar f tn Interesting, SJL....I have extreme leg pain at times. I took Neurontin for a while. Drove me batty. Started Lyrica in late Nov. It is working! I was in so much pain. This was all over pain mostly, but it was dx'ed as Fibromyalgia in Nov. It has helped so much. No longer on those heavy duty pain meds and while I do have some breakthrough pain, Lyrica has really worked. I take the lowest dose 150 mg a day, most likely should go up, but the sx are fatigue.
Avatar n tn Hi, I sometimes have severe leg pain at night that radiates from the back of my knees. I have always been told it is growing pains but I am 21 and I do not believe I am still growing. I notice this pain is more intense on days I have been on my feet or walking for prolonged periods of time. I usually put a heating pad or biofeeze to ease the pain. Any suggestions as to what this could be?
