Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia leg nerve pain

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Since then I been having random pains , it's so hard to explain. Most pains are dull and it could be in my leg, shins, ankles ,feet. I remember one night my feet was burning so bad. Sometimes it's a tingling sensation. Lately theres been pain in the upper extremities, most pains come and go . It last for a second that goes somewheres else. I still have the stiff back I can feel it when I bend, I've also been waking up stiff, could this be fibro? Did anyone else start like this,?
Avatar f tn I like you had all the tests, MRIs never showed the excruiating shoulder blade pain I was living with or the bone crushing lower back pain, i have the gamut of symptoms sciatic pain, the joint stiffness, the lack of sleep, skin sensitivity, headaches, leg weakness. Let my story be a tale of caution to you as you navigate finding out what is causing your pain.
Avatar n tn I have recently started taking 150 mg of Lyrica for nerve pain and Fibromyalgia. I can hardly believe it, but it is very helpful in relieving my nerve pain. The only problem is that my brain is effected by it. It has become very difficult to express myself verbally. I find myself searching for simple words. Is there something I can take along with Lyrica to help my foggy mind?
Avatar f tn I had a 5 inch piece of nerve taken from my leg and sent to the mayo clinic who gave me the final diagosis. If your nerve condution tests were normal then I don't think a biopsy would be fruitful. I have had 'chronic' long term damage to my peripheral nerves. It bothers me 24/7 and impairs my mobility significantly. Since you are young, You could very well be experiencing the 'inflamation' of the nervous system and effects of that. Without the demylination of the nerve itself..
Avatar f tn I have leg pain intermittently, I thought it was restless leg syndrom or peripheral neuropathy, not sure, but the only thing I can take is paracetamol as other pain killers are toxic to the liver and taking this helps.
358486 tn?1294779988 Considering that this is the Pain Management Forum, I dont find that Brandy F should be limited to the Fibro forum. Pain is pain.
365931 tn?1198073762 Pain meds don't do a thing. I have fibromyalgia and am taking a new drug for nerve pain. It is starting to work and is non narcotic. Lyrica and also Neurontin are two that I know of. Wish you the best! I sure remember those days feeling like I was dragging my numb foot around and tears streaming down my face as I tried to work.
Avatar n tn My muscle cramping has disappeared as has the leg pain. Granted I have sciatica that nothing touches but the leg pain I was experiencing was not associated with my chronic pain. So if you have not had a battery of lab tests to check the levels I mentioned I would encourage you to request them. Your pain may be related to the Fibro progression but in my opinion it wouldn't hurt to cover all your bases. I assume with your diagnosis you are being monitored and treated by a rheumatologist.
230948 tn?1235847929 hi i suffer from nerve pain and weekness in my legs its horrible, i tkae baclofen and gabapentin and it helps a great deal. im in the uk and have a good neuro and am being refered to an MS specialist by him.
Avatar m tn My symptoms of chronic fatigue seemed to start with Epstein Barr, now I have the joint/nerve pain. I recently saw a medical acupuncturist for treatment, and this quack doctor discounted everything I told her about the Epstein Barr virus, and told me that this whole condition was in my head, and I needed antidepressants. Although, she did do the acupuncture to boost my adrenal function for energy.
975514 tn?1325001538 she completely neglected the pain I came to her abt in the first place which was more back/leg ....soon as they hear pain and sleep issues together a light goes on in their heads and awwww must be FM. forgive my ranting...I get so disgusted with doctors sometimes its a raw subject with me! there are many very good ones out there with very good reps, but there are a few who were in the bottom percentile of the class too. Oh got carried away there..
209591 tn?1267418314 Lyrica seems to be helping me with the nerve pain of fibro. I haven't been able to exercise at all since Nov due to a flare. But when I can exercise does help the pain. Nothing I have done seems to help the fatigue. I went to church this morning, then took a "nap" for 4 1/2 hrs. You just have to learn to pace yourself. My dr told me to vacuum one room at a time, not the whole house. One load of laundry, not spend all day washing & folding clothes. You get the idea.
Avatar f tn Getting a proper delta sleep has improved my muscular pain-not that I don't have the pain anymore but it is not as exruciatingly painful now. Its great to hear you have a new doctor who seems to be giving you all the right messages. I have a great relationship with my rheumatologist ever since she said to me "Look at me Mary, look at me straight into my eyes. I WANT TO TELL YOU-I KNOW YOU ARE IN PAIN!" We haven't looked back since then-almost ten years ago.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is widespread pain throuout the entire body,it actually hurts to be touched.Maybe a possible pinched nerve or sciatica?
Avatar n tn my neuro said what it really is, is nerve pain. he said we have a nerve that runs along the bone so it feels like it's in the bone but it's not........ I hope this gets better for you soon..................................
Avatar n tn I have been taking it for nerve pain caused by slipped discs. I have a high tolerance for pain and drugs. I am taking 600mg per day (the max allowed), and still have discomfort, but it defenitely takes the edge off. Only side effect I've noticed is slight lite-headness.
Avatar n tn I have back pain quite a bit but nothing too uncomfortable. Feb. this year I started to have severe leg pain, numbness and tingling in both leags. I have seen so many doctor's, had all the types of MRI's all over my back, nerve tests, blood tests you name it. Nothing shows up. The neurologist is at a loss of what is wrong. He started my on Cmybalta but that hasn't helped. The only thing that brings some relief is the pain drugs. I can't take this anymore.
Avatar n tn Had similar leg/nerve pain. Neurologist feels I might have early form of MS although no definitive evidence. However, dr gave prescription for Neurontin which I did not like the way I felt and then tried me on Cymbalta. Cymbalta has dialed down pain from 8 to a 5/6 allowing me to sleep again. Everything goes poorly when you are sleep deprived. The cymbalta is used as an antidepressant as well as diabetic neuropathy. I have not had any problems with it-only good.
Avatar n tn I get blisters on my butt that seem to be following a nerve and causing lower back pain and nerve pain that runs down my leg. I get this every month before or during my menstrual cycle.
Avatar f tn The type of pain you describe sounds like sciatica. Sciatica refers pain caused by an inflamed or impinged sciatic nerve. The nerve originates in the spine and travels down the back of our legs. Anything that irritates this nerve can cause pain. It may be from a spinal structural problem but there are also several other conditions that can cause this pain. I suggest that you request an MRI. That at least would be a place to begin. I have SIJ (sacroiliac joint) Dysfunction.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what exactly can be causing my leg pain ONLY on the left leg. When I extend my leg that's when it hurts the pain starts at my buttocks and travels down the back side of my leg, the pain stops right behind the knee.
Avatar f tn Could be a pinched nerve or fibromyalgia. Might want to see a neurologist.
Avatar f tn However please remember that symptoms of MS are mimicked by many other conditions like peripheral neuropathy, B12 deficiency, stroke, nerve compression and fibromyalgia. There is a possibility in your case that your symptoms are due to nerve compression in the thigh and peripheral neuropathy. I would suggest you to relax and undergo a complete evaluation and tests like MRI and CT scan and also lumbar puncture. On the basis of these tests and examination a diagnosis can be made.
Avatar f tn 756, now there is one more, I know that they are trying to pass this so we can get the care we need, look up under google american pain care and get involved, I need to do something, my PCP just gave me a name of someone in Boston she is a spine specialist in pain what good does this do me with severe nerve damage to my feet all the pain clinics speciality are spine and back where the hell is the help for nerve pain, I am at my witts end, I wish god would just take me, this is not a life, everyo
Avatar f tn but with my chiropractor and the right adjustment and heat treatments alternating with cold and certain stretching, ever so easy, it goes away. I am talking down the leg pain from the buttocks, that feels better once I finally stand and anything inbetween is virtually impossible to accomplish. Fibromyalgia is an all over pain condition. A "touch of" this illness would be a mild case, all over your body.
Avatar n tn last doc said its either fibromyalgia or restless leg syndrome but I believe she was giving up. Pain only at evening and no pain meds alleviate pain, hot bath takes pain away until I get out of the bath, it comes right back, next morning the pain is gone ...my mother has syringomyelia and arnold chiari, I was tested for both but nothing, aunt has ms....im clueless as to what to do or what specialist to see...help!!!!
