Avatar n tn It could be from muscle atrophy or could be fibromyalgia (often happens in conjunction with many types of arthritis) or something else. It is important you see a rheumatologist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Avatar n tn She has experienced severe joint pain/chest pain off and on since she has been ill. She has experienced intermittent pain in knee, hips, ankle, shoulders, elbows, chest, and currently in wrists. The pain/swelling is worse in the evenings and restricts her movement. Another strange symptom is that she experiences eye "spasms" from time to time. Her colitis is much better and returning to normal.
Avatar n tn This is called a spasm. Spasms happen when the muscles tense up - hot and cold compresses and massage help. Sometimes it is necessary to see a chiropractor. If you see your doctor he will likely prescribe a muscle relaxer which will also help. Sometimes we go into spasm because of anxiety, worry or tensing our muscles. Sometimes it can also be caused by lifting something heavy.\ People with fibromyalgia often get spasms. Hope this was helpful...
Avatar f tn I have Fibromyalgia. I get excruciating cramps (charlie horses) in my calfs, toes, arch of feet, top of feet, inner right thigh, sides of calfs from the outside knee down to ankle. When I walk outside my home such as going to get groceries I am sure to have these cramps at night. They may also come during the daytime. My fingers and hands spasm also. My fingers on my right hand will pull in toward the center or my hand.. I became very ill about 2 years ago.

1207048 tn?1282174304 I had a few months of achy joints last year when I started the process of diagnosis. It was before I had many neurological symptoms, so I was thoroughly tested for: rheumatoid arthritis, regular arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, thyroid issues, full metabolic workup, and more that I know I'm forgetting. I saw my regular primary care doctor, an endocrinologist, and an rheumatologist. All tests were perfectly normal, and most tests were run more than once.
Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?

Avatar f tn around left knee/ankle and left hand/wrist. I typically feel just fine when I first wake up in the AM, and my symptoms creep up on me as the day goes on. I get fatigued very easily. I also have some noticeable muscle atrophy in my left calf. The symptoms are so hard to describe, I hope all of this makes sense. I guess my question is, does this sound typical of MS?

Avatar m tn I dislocated my knee over a year ago and had surgery on it as well. The other knee I dislocated in HS sports when I was a senior. I am 45 now and I started having chronic knee pain in both knees about 3 months after the knee surgery. The pain has never gone away and I wear knees support braces daily. The past 2 weeks my left shoulder back and chest have started with pain also and then about a week ago my left elbow now has severe pain.
Avatar m tn One day not long ago I got on my knees and it felt like the skin on the inside of my right knee by the knee cap was ripping. I do not have any bumps, or numbness or anything like that. With in the last couple of weeks the left knee is experiencing the same thing, just not as painful.
Avatar f tn I had a revision of a TKR on my left knee on January 14, 2008, replacing one that was done in 2005. About a month before the surgery, I ended up in ER with painful spasms in my knee. The area that would be covered by a knee brace is where the spasms are located. It feels like they are tightening that area with intermitten pain that varies from tolerable to absolute torture. They are constant and last from 2-5 hours, getting more painful as the time goes on.
Avatar f tn I am on tablets called Ropinerol they work to a point but the older I get the worse the spasms get. Avatar n tn I have had muscle spasms in my legs for quite a long time. Now I get mthem all over my body. They wake me from sleep, as I drive, I get them in my back and sides, neck, arms. This is driving me crazy. They get so painful at times I get into the shower just to let the hot water relax them....what is wrong with me??? I eat a bananna a day, have had my electrolites, and potassium checked and its ok...I cant take much more. Its getting worse....HELP!
Avatar f tn One thing that I tell anyone who thinks they may have fibromyalgia is to rule out many other conditions. Stabbing and spasms can and are often seen in fibromyalgia patients, but other conditions can cause these symptoms as well. One thing I would certainly do is ask your physician about taking a magnesium supplement and B12 (via injections or sublingually). Also consider checking out our health care pages.
Avatar n tn If you already have spasms in the muscle, stretching it further (i.e., bending the knee) can indeed cause pain. Not nuts . . . .
390388 tn?1279636213 I'm very touched by all of the responses so much! Thank you all. Though I'm feeling much better today, I'm very glad to say. Just a feel a little bruised and sunken type feeling. Sorry if I worried you all. I still can't sleep right. I'm wondering if this can yet play another role. LOL I don't know. I just want my old crazy self back being able to do anything. Pains have finally eased up in my body and chest pains are just normal zingers now.
Avatar f tn I dislocated my knee cap badly a few weeks ago while i was on holiday. I was told by the specialist that i have snapped the ligaments and my leg was to be in a cast from thigh to ankle for 6 weeks before physio started if the ligaments healed, if they didnt heal i would need surgery to put fake ones in. When i got home the cast had slipped and i hadnt got the notes sent through so i went up to A & E to see what they said and they have changed me to a leg brace.
1523981 tn?1311318595 I am 4 1/2 months pregnant and I recently started having these muscles spasms a few days ago right above the knee. They never seem to go away and when I stand up they are week and it takes me awhil to stand up straight or they lock up and I can't seem to walk or move for a few seconds. Avatar f tn I am a 37-year-old woman with a grocery list of symptoms. My leg muscle biopsy had some unusual findings that require a DNA sequence, which is being done right now. In the meantime, I'm wondering if any doctor out there may be able to interpret the current findings. The neurologist that did the biopsy said "I really don't know what to make of this" when discussing the biopsy results with me". Not very encouraging. The findings are as follows: 1.
