Avatar m tn Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum. Lisa, so many of us get dissed by drs that I call it the Royal Chiari Runaround....we have to educate ourselves and be our own advocates....we all wish we didn't have to but we do. The link below has names of chiari NS's...but u do need to find a good NL as well....use the names here as a starting point and do research,...these r not referrals, but names of drs that other members here have used and liked. U have to find the dr u feel comfortable with.

Avatar n tn I had difficulty sleeping the night after the bridge went on, and gradually I developed all of the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Luckly I found a dentist in Hastings Michigan Dr Dan Gole . He is a holistic dentist , who examined all of my muscles and balance for one half hour before he looked at my teeth.
Avatar n tn In mid November 2007 I caught a virus. By thanksgiving I had acquired bronchitis that was cured by steroids. Around late December 2007 I started to feel just all around not well. My muscles hurt constantly and on December 31st I scheduled a massage. The massage therapist was unable to get some of the knots out of my shoulders. The next day I woke up with an excruciating headache. I have had many headaches and migraines in my life, but this one was by far one of the worst.

1550149 tn?1340004330 A University of Michigan study, published in The Journal of Pain, shows that fibromyalgia is associated with central nervous system abnormalities evidenced by patients’ elevated sensitivity to auditory and pressure sensations. The Michigan researchers studied 31 subjects to determine if there is a global central nervous system problem underlying sensory processing in fibromyalgia patients.
1800611 tn?1315856590 I live in Michigan and the weather changes with each season. I have had fibro. for years. and the rain and damp weather have always bothered me. I had a great summer this year. It was hot with less rain. I did not have much pain. Now that it is Sept. it has been cooler and rainy. I have been bothered this past week. Each year when this time comes around I always want to move. That is how I ended up on this site. I am thinking of moving when I get my new career started.

217229 tn?1192766004 Fibromyalgia, an often misunderstood condition involving widespread muscle pain and fatigue, is characterized by a set of symptoms, but no definitive test exists to "prove" that a person has it. Some researchers suspect that viral illness could be a trigger, for both fibromyalgia and a similar condition called chronic fatigue syndrome.

Avatar n tn Enjoy the fishing, I love to myself , but haven't been in awhile. You are completely right the pain in the chest from AS is almost indistinguishable from the pain of a heart attack or aortic dissection for that matter, in fact persons with AS are at a slightly increased risk from aortic dissection though it be very low, as AS can affect the aortic valve in about 2-3% of all cases of AS.
Avatar n tn I am getting worse. So far, I have heard this is fibromyalgia, yeast overgrowth, allergies, depression etc. Everytime I try to explain that I think I have a toxic exposure problem, the doc just looks at me and shakes his head. Has anyone experieced thiese symptoms and does anyone kbnow a doctor in the Chicago area who can diagnosis a mystery illness? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I saw a podiatrist recently who suggested fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue. She sent me to a foot expert in physical therapy to see if it could be due to problems with my posture or whatever. He found some things to work on (not surprising), with tightness in the hips and some other areas, and gave me some exercises and things including a nerve stretch. He thinks it's neuropathy and doesn't know if the exercises will help.

Avatar n tn He said that the scans don't show any cause for this to be happening and it looks like it is curving in rather than the bone thinning in that area. At this point it isn't affecting my brain, so he wants me to repeat the scans in October and come back so he can see if there are any changes. Keep in touch if you find anything out about yours. and feel free to send me a message in my inbox - I have a watch on this post and my inbox and I recieve an email whenever anyone posts to it.
Avatar n tn in the last two weeks i have had three blood vessels just pop in my fingers. i was not doing anything out of the ordinary. what could be causing this? should there be a cause for concern?
Avatar n tn I have read that anything above 1 CM is abnormal. I have no pain in the nodes themselves but have developed pain in the neck which seems like a stiff neck, and pain exists with any pressure from straining or lifting, also movement related pain in neck, chest and spine in the same region. No signs of infection at all, but do have extreme fatigue, back pain, some weight loss, among other varied symptoms.
Avatar n tn I was in an auto accident approx. 9 years ago that left me a C-6 quadraplegic. I live in northern Michigan and since it is fall and rather cold outside, I spend most of the day indoors. Alot of you reported that your symptoms increase while watching television, I do spend alot of time in front of t.v. or computer screen, possible correlation? I smell the smoke whether I'm home or somewhere else. What the hell is causing this? This is the strangest thing I've ever heard of...
Avatar n tn I've had numerous neurological symptoms. I do have a lump in my skull in my forehead called a Haemangioma of the Skull which caused severe pain and also spots on my brain MRIs so I am not sure what my problem is. My best wishes to you and I hope you find out what the problem is, it's very hard to be suffering so much all the time. keep looking for answers there must be one out there.
Avatar f tn Clawson at the University of Michigan, he was emphatic that fibromyalgia is NOT greater in women. He has gotten a large grant from the Dept of Defense because a large number of men coming back from the wars have great stress and that seems to have triggered the fibromyalgia in many of them--the reason for the large grant to study it.
Avatar f tn The closest specialist to me is Milwaukee. Downstate Michigan is over 10 hours away from where I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Milwaukee is 6 hours away.
Avatar n tn I am a 36 year old male from Michigan. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in May of 07 and started on thyroid medications. I feel worse now than I ever have. I have had so many medical tests done. I feel tired all the time, my eyes feel dry, severe abdominal pains, joint and muscle pains just to name a few. I just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and it showed no tumors or pollups. It did show irritation in my small intestine and colon.
Avatar n tn I have good news! I went to a seminar on fms at the university of michigan and a leading doctor their was talking about gene therapy. They already have this for the blind. In less than five years, not only are drug companies going to have more drugs out for fibromyalgia, but they will be able to take your dna and test it to which drug will work best for you!
1961084 tn?1325282627 Obviously she stopped taking the Lyrica- she just told me this, embarrassed, yesterday) By using Muscle Ezze and the help of your Chiro or your Doctor it's doable, if it works for you. Did he give you the advanced V40? I have a friend D.C. in Michigan and he has many Amish clients buying this stuff, as they won't go to regular doctors. I have a feeling that the meds you're taking aren't doing much other than contributing more to your issues.
Avatar n tn I've had an equivocal test for Lyme and have so many symptoms. My PCP refered me to the Univ.of Michigan Rheumatology Clinic. I told doctors there about my Lyme test and got a lot of responses such as: "There's no Lyne in Michigan" and "You tested negative for Lyme, so you don't have it." When I presented factual arguments to these responses, I was redirected and seemingly brushed off.
535822 tn?1443980380 The underlying cause of arthritis, gout and fibromyalgia is an imbalance in the system causing acidosis, which is the basis of most physical disease. In simple terms, this means your pH is out of balance and your body is trying to get back into balance in any way it can. Even in autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, imbalance is at the root of its cause. The body's attempt to regain stasis is what causes arthritis, high uric acid, muscle spasms and a host of other problems.
