Avatar m tn Recently, a randomized controlled study found that increasing vitamin D blood levels from a mean of 19 ng/mL to about 50 ng/mL was associated with a modest decrease in fibromyalgia pain (a 20 point decrease on a 100 point scale). The study involved 30 adults (mostly women) in Austria with fibromyalgia.
Avatar m tn Why is there such a large deviation or difference of opinion in different doctors on whether or not amblyopia can or cannot be treated in adults? Is it still because studies such as those conducted by McGill University (tetris) are relatively new?

1284078 tn?1271587111 My doctor is now going to refer me back to my old renal consultant as they just dont know what to do with me, as you know it is unusual in adults and frankly i think i am probably the only person they have ever seen with it (i live on a small island so thats not that far fetched) What gets me is that i have had a few years without any problems and i guess i got my hopes up that it was finally over. It is nice to know that i am not the only one out there going through this.
Avatar f tn I know Cradle Cap is used for babie's that have it but i just cannot remember the real name for it. Anyways my mum seems to have it and she's in her late 40's. The first time she got it was a few months ago, it started off with a severe itchy scalp and red itchy spots on her neck/back, then she woke up with a shock, her scalp was covered in yellow crust, it was awful she was so distressed, i had to get it out with a nit comb. That time she was suffering from stress.
1692515 tn?1306270048 I have been told my mother that at 2 years old I put a bobbie pin in an electrical outlet and she had to get a mop to dislodge me. My question is could my fibromyalgia, reoccuring shingles, and electric shock feeling be caused by this and what can be done to stop it.

1536712 tn?1294043301 I have also heard that this is common in fibromyalgia - but fibromyalgiasymptoms generally fits my condition very well! So I'm not sure - either I have that as well, or VDD mimics fibro very much. I'll talk to my doctor about this next time I see her.
Avatar f tn Hello! My left leg is hurting from the knee to the hip. The bend of the leg or pelvic area hurts to walk. I have fibromyalgia. This pain just started about a week ago. I can't sleep on either side. I have to sleep on my back. If I sleep on my back to long it starts to hurt. I was told I have three fibroid tumors. Can they be the pain I am having or can it be something else. The pain is severe!!!!!!! What can I do?
773755 tn?1328119777 It is much more common in women, and it can be debilitating. Many conventional medical doctors do not think that fibromyalgia exists. In fact, many patients who believe they have this condition are often derided by their doctors. One reason many conventional doctors do not think fibromyalgia is a “real” condition is that no specific medication is effective for treating this illness. Some medications do help lower the symptoms of fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn I just posted this same response under another topic.....but it fits here, too: I am a 27-year old female who has just had an ICD implanted. It is the best decision I could have ever made. I am no longer experiencing skipped/abnormal beats. I feel so much better having the device, knowing that should my heart decides it wants to skip beats or even stop, I have a safety net.

Avatar n tn Myalgia or muscle pain is commonly seen with viral fevers. It is more in children than in adults. Nimesulide would not cause it. The various reasons are Dengue, viral flu, lupus, Lyme’s, malaria, polio, electrolyte disturbance (so serum electrolytes should be done), dehydration, and post viral fatigue syndrome. If this settles down once fever goes away and if all these conditions are ruled out (except viral flu) then it should not be a cause of worry.
