4861077 tn?1360159739 Your doctor will be able to prescribe an antidepressant and a narcotic analgesic that are effective in relieving the pain in individuals suffering from fibromyalgia. Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs are also advised in certain instances. Make sure you get plenty of rest so that you do not get overtired. Some moderate forms of exercise like aerobics will also help with regard to the stiffness. Acupuncture, yoga, massage therapy and magnetic therapy may also be useful.
Avatar n tn A satellite myofascial point is a highly irritable spot in a muscle that becomes inactive because the muscle is in the region of another trigger pain. The pain of fibromyalgia is generalized, occurring above and below the waist and on both sides of the body. On the other hand, myofascial pain is more often described as occurring in a more limited area of the body, for example, only around the shoulder and neck, and on only one side of the body. Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn Sleep is essential especially for fibromyalgia or any type of pain. If you can get 6 hours minimum you can better deal with the pain. Have you ever had a sleep study? I requested one and I have sleep apnea. I also take trazadone. It is an older sleep medication that is taken at bedtime. You and your doctor can decide if taking something would help. To me your top list would be your headaches, not sleeping and pain.
1184051 tn?1264438908 I have constant neck, shoulder all the way down my spine pain! I just never put all these symptoms together. The fatigue just was getting out of hand so I focused on that and than tingling down by body so that is why the doc sent me for MRI. Thinking MS. I have so much to learn, but with this site and continuing to seeks relief I do feel lighter. Thank you all and will continue to come to this board!
428266 tn?1295648380 I had a hard time believing that it was carpel tunnel at first because it all started in 2006 when I went to the hospital for severe neck pain and severe arm and hand pain. I had a MRI and the ortho surgeon said I had a herniated disk and wanted to put off surgery. The following year still in pain had another MRI and dr. said I had a slight bulging disk. I was very puzzled by this.
Avatar f tn As an Indian Bride, I was also wearing lot of jewellery and that included “BANGLES” as well. Now something new started, the pain grew on me and entire right hand was in mess. Even a single bangle was like a mountain on my right hand. The pain started to affect my entire right body including my head, neck, leg, thigh, hip and hand as well. In the mean time, I consulted an Orthopedic who gave me 10 injections of Vitamin B and told me that I am suffering from “FIBROMYALGIA”.

Avatar f tn It gets so bad that I cannot climb stairs by the end of the night without difficulty. I have difficulty writing due to the hand and wrist pain. I am stiff and sore in the joints in the mornings, it gets better during the day and then the pain is severe in the evenings. I have had blood tests for Lupus, Rhematoid arthritis, lymes and parvo and they have been all negative. I also have chronic neck, back and hip pain. This has been going on for a long time now, over a year.

Avatar n tn Hey frog1703, Welcome to the forum. Ask your doctor to have your Tartaric Acid levels tested. It is usually very elevated in in most FMS patients that experience significant muscle and joint pain. Elevated PMS pain is often indicative of high Tartaric acid levels as well. Tartaric acid interferes with the Krebs cycle which is your major energy producing cycle and is a muscle toxin. Also, if your doctor is not a LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor) do a search and find one asap!
358486 tn?1294779988 Considering that this is the Pain Management Forum, I dont find that Brandy F should be limited to the Fibro forum. Pain is pain.
Avatar n tn then attempt to look at your hand. Pain indicates that your TrPs are especially sensitive. Then, continuing to look up at your hand, look out from the upper corner of each eye separately. Medications are also usually prescribed to treat eyesight complications; guaifenesin (which liquefies mucus) is a uricosuric drug that helps the treatment of FMS because it helps expel uric acid from the body.
Avatar f tn Pain all over the body & more severe at specific points Fatigue Sleep difficulties Loss of memory / difficulty in remebering Morning stiffness Muscle knots, cramping, weakness Digestive disorders Itchy/burning skin More urinating frequency Too much intake of water Mental depression It is more severe on the right side from shoulder till the leg possibly because she works with her right hand. It is very difficult to get up from bed during morning.
Avatar f tn I had carpal tunnel surgery and a trigger finger release on this hand and finger many, many years ago. I also have pain (some days worse than others) in my knees, hips, lower back, elbows, shoulders and neck. My neck creates a grating sound when I turn my head back and forth. I take a 300 mg. Tylenol 3, not more than twice a day when pain is really bad. I do have a problem with my left eye...pain above the eye, frequent tearing..
1105540 tn?1279190717 Common pain syndromes in MS include a band-like sensation around the thorax, shooting pain down the back with neck flexion, and pain in the limbs due to spasticity or spasms when the spinal cord is involved. Fibromyalgia and MS can certainly occur together, so that sometimes, it would not be possible to determine if your symptoms in your teenage years were due to the MS or due to fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn A positive ANA does not indicate fibromyalgia. However, fibromyalgia often does go hand in hand with some auto-immune diseases. My ANA was positive one time and negative the next. My rheumatologist continues to test me as there is clearly something auto-immune going on on top of my fibromyalgia. Because of other symptoms he feels it is developing lupus and he is treating me for that and it is helping.
Avatar n tn This week the cool weather gave me an horrible bursitis pain in my hip and also increased the pain all around my body caused by fibromyalgia. Had to have cortisone shot in my hip..couldn't take the pain anymore and not a single pill was able to give me any relief. Hoping the cortisone shot starts working ASAP.
Avatar n tn To me is sounds as if you are experiencing nerve pain. I have complex regional pain syndrome and I have that problem all the time. I have burning pain in all of my extremities. I find when I am having the burn a cool washrag often helps. When the swelling occurs, I usually try to rub them and drink some caffeinated beverage to try to rid myself of the water. I hope this helps, it really sucks to have the burn.
Avatar n tn I am a 22 year old female and after doing a bit of research it sounds as though I have several symptoms that occur under fibromyalgia. I have had throughout my entire life a bizarre amount of muscle problems and pain. In recent times (last 5-6 months) I have had occasions where my body and skin hurts so much that even my shirt is hurting it. This isn't an everyday, or even every week, event but it has happened probably 5 or 6 time.
434278 tn?1324709825 My body lays down extra fascial tissue which creates more pain. I think for fibromyalgia there are certain pain points that must be tender in order to be diagnosed. Otherwise I would think they feel very similar.
Avatar f tn my right leg is very painful espically my thigh area but my left thigh dosent hurt at all but the lower part of the right leg is very painful both arms hurt spine hurts middle of my back is very painful my fingers on my left hand some fingers are stiff right hand no stiffness but i do have alot of pain in my hand i thought the pain had to be consistent on both sides of the body ...and my blood pressure keeps going higher and higher ...it started with 129/60 now its 142/80...
Avatar f tn In some cases, the area where a person experiences the pain may not be where the myofascial pain generator is located. This is called referred pain. Fibromyalgia and MPS can be difficult to distinguish from one another. Some practitioners beleive they are the same. Both have "trigger points" meaning an area of extreme tenderness. Neither of these conditions can be diagnosed through lab work but rather by the symptoms they present.
Avatar m tn Hi; Yes, I have foot and hand pain. My hands hurt so bad right now it's hard to type. Lower back pain is also a serious culprit, my hair even hurts, the nerves in my scalp makes it feel like things are growing out of my head. ....
422715 tn?1204012710 It was a bit painful and it was difficult to move my arm without causing shooting pain in my hand it lasted about 8 hours with the after ache lasting about a day. I do not know if it was related to the treatment, but I have not had the experience before. Then today the hand pain has faded but my elbow is aching. I did have injury to my right arm and shoulder due to an accident in the past, although have not had problems in quite awhile with that.
Avatar f tn They thought I have an autoimmune disease but everything came back negative. Hand pain is still there, now I have a problem with my hip. The doctors do not find it too serious so I am waiting to see if it gets worse. My biggest issue is severe coldness which I experience basically most of the time. Not really a lot of fun. The doctors cannot find anything wrong except the Vitamin D deficiency. I am trying to find the way to warm my body up so if you have any suggestions, I will take them.
