Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia forum sleep

Avatar f tn For what it's worth, I would encourage you to try posting your question in a couple other forums, too. I would try the Fibromyalgia forum and the undiagnosed symptoms forum. Maybe even the Rare Diseases forum. I think you'll have a better chance of getting your question answered.
Avatar f tn what is fibromyalgia? i am curious. My mother n law suffers from it and i am just curious what it is.
Avatar n tn You are always welcome here but I invite you to also post on our Fibromyalgia Forum. The members there have more information and personal experience with Fibro and the medications prescribed for the painful condition. Here's the link: Does Savella seem to help with your symptoms of Fibro? I hope so and I hope that your pain will be better controlled. Please let us know how you are doing.
358486 tn?1294779988 Then it just started progressing....My sleep pattern became very weird and I would awaken after 8 hours of sleep and feel like I had not slept. My neck and shoulders ached ALL the TIME! This went on for until 2005. I started having extreme pain in my right side and usually one to two weeks out of the month - my knees (more over, the BACK of my knees) would just ache and burn something awful. I was still drinking pretty heavily at the time so again - I thought it was something else.
Avatar n tn I suffer from fibromyalgia and neurophy daily. When the pain is severe I can hardly stand it. Are there any new approaches to this condition. I am taking vicoden, cymbalta, pamelor and neurotyn?
Avatar n tn Chronic pain, Sleeplessness, Anxiety and Fatigue may be symptoms of Fibromyalgia or other conditions like Chronic Fatigue syndrome. There are many other conditions that mimic the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia is based on the presence of tender points. These tender spots are particularly located in the neck, back, shoulders and hips. There are 18 points on body for tenderness in patients of this condition.
Avatar f tn Begin by describing where the pain originates from. Then describe the headaches. Explain how you don't sleep. Sleep is essential especially for fibromyalgia or any type of pain. If you can get 6 hours minimum you can better deal with the pain. Have you ever had a sleep study? I requested one and I have sleep apnea. I also take trazadone. It is an older sleep medication that is taken at bedtime. You and your doctor can decide if taking something would help.
1184051 tn?1264438908 Hi I am new to this site, but my doctor said in I probably have fibromyalgia about a year ago. I had an MRI done today and it came back negative. My dr. had me have the MRI because of increasing fatigue, tingling body parts, headaches, major memory problems! Now I have to go to a neurologist. I just feel that I will have a bunch of tests and they will say they don't know or label me with fibromyalgia, but do they take it as a serious condition?
Avatar f tn I have Fibromyalgia and can only work three days a week with days in between and have to sleep 12 hours and two short naps during the days off. This year if I do too much during one day, my upper back spasms into a neck/shoulder pain spasm and causes migraine, and I am bedridden. The only thing that provides relief is a hot bath and codeine and 2 muscle relaxants and one gravol. It has only been that bad for one year.
4861077 tn?1360159739 That helps our sleep arousals, which may not wake you up, but lighter sleep stages wont get you the growth hormone manufacture that is needed for daily tissue repair. Couple of thoughts. Have you honestly reduced your amount of repetitive work yet? Some (a lot) fibro patients are going to have to cut back, perhaps significantly. Standards of cleanliness may take a negative adjustment, and family members will need to pitch in and/or an occasional maid service gets things caught up.
Avatar n tn I am only 25 and have all the symptoms of fibromyalgia, CFS and MCS. I am unable to get out of bed some days but because of my young age my doctor is not seeming to take me seriously. He tests my thyroid and iron levels and many other things, but has not sent me to a fibromyalgia specialists. Also I have not been able to get disability cheques, so I am on government assistance:(. Does anybody more experienced have any advice for me? This can be quite stressful.
209591 tn?1267418314 Hi, I am a 25 year old female that was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in August along with many other things...I have been staying so tired, some days sleeping more than 15 hours....Just getting out of bed sometimes is almost impossible...For you all what has been the most helpful treatment (exercise, therapy or medication) for your fatigue? All of my medicines cause fatigue and so do all 8 to 10 diagnoses I currently have...Thanks so much for your help.
Avatar f tn I posted my intro here yesterday, so I won't go into all my details, but after 2-3 years of odd symproms and random/chronic muscle pain my neurologist has suggested that I have fibromyalgia. She said I should discuss it with my famil doctor at my next appt, which is in July. Both doctors have run me through countless tests to rule out other neuro and autoimmune diseases including MS. My family doctor really felt like I may be depressed.
Avatar f tn Pain all over the body & more severe at specific points Fatigue Sleep difficulties Loss of memory / difficulty in remebering Morning stiffness Muscle knots, cramping, weakness Digestive disorders Itchy/burning skin More urinating frequency Too much intake of water Mental depression It is more severe on the right side from shoulder till the leg possibly because she works with her right hand. Avatar n tn Since I've had Fibromyalgia, I have constant bursitis in my greater trocanter (hip bursa) as well as a constant inflammation of my SI joints. I receive shots in my hips every few months, sometimes monthly. I do the exercises given to me by my DO, however, I have only short term relief from the shots. I apply ice. I still have the bursitis and it won't go away. I never had any hip injuries prior or since to cause bursitis. Does anyone else have recurrent bursitis with their Fibromyalgia?
434278 tn?1324709825 The pain across the back of your shoulders is very typical of fibromyalgia. It is not uncommon for lupus patients to also have fibromyalgia. The one thing that seems to help with fibro is sleep. I take a benadryll and a melatonin to help me sleep. I'm not saying that you only have lupus. I was also told that all I had was fibro and deep don I knew I had more than fibro. I know people w/ fibro and they have never been as sick as I was.
Avatar f tn I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and Sleep Apnea. The apneas are what prompted me to write as I can see that Chreey is about to have a sleep study done. I just wanted to say that since I have received treatment for my Sleep Apnea in the form of a C PAP mask, my symptoms regarding the FS have greatly improved. I hope too that this is the case for you and would be very interested to hear if that is the case or otherwise.

975514 tn?1325001538 section_id=27670#sec_27670 I urge you to introduce yourself below and tell us a little about what brought you to the Fibromyalgia/CFS Forum. Again, welcome to MedHelp and the Fibromyalgia/CFS forum!
1075109 tn?1281839291 It's important to assure that one medication does not work against another and that all your symptoms are considered and addressed. Our bodies need sleep. Sleep deprivation can magnify our pain, symptoms and emotional responses to name just a few of the issues that lack of sleep can bring. Please discuss this with your PCP. I wish I had better answers or suggestions for you. Others will post also. Please let us know how you are doing. You are not alone.
Avatar m tn Now the virus has become active her Fibromyalgia has spread throughout her body and pain become far more severe, as it is said Hepatitis can be a known trigger for Fibromyalgia. Avatar m tn I have had depression and sleep apnea for many years now and the past two years I require ambien to go to sleep every night or I will not sleep. The pain I am having now is waking me up at night several times a week. My knee doctor prescribed Lyrica for me about 3 months ago and I tried it and could not take it because it made my head feel disoriented and headaches.
Avatar n tn It wears off after about 15 minutes but until then it's extremely difficult to walk and at times to breathe. I have a good mattress but it does seem that I don't move much during my sleep. I have sleep apnea and have a cpap machine so I think I've come accustomed to not moving much. I also have hypothyroidism....I don't know if that might be causing this problem. I've also started having weird "twitches" all over. They first started in my eyelids...very annoying..
1564938 tn?1295223828 Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! Unexplained aches and pains coming on and off could be due to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, H pylori infection, anemia, liver disorders, diabetes, hypothyroidism, Vit B12 or Vit D deficiency and due to calcium or magnesium deficiency. It can also be due to sleep related disorders. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have mild sleep apnea per a sleep test done a few years ago. I have been hospitalized a few times mostly for the chest/ribcage pain and back pain but they just say its Fibromyalgia or most recently Chostochondritis from Fibro. I have had these headaches on and off for years and an MRI done just two years ago showed a muscle spasm at the base of my neck/head. Over the past year my symptoms and pain have become more extreme.
Avatar f tn started 300 milligrams of gabapentin last night .. I didn't sleep at all I watch the Sun come up and I'm so full of energy and anxious is this normal?
Avatar f tn DD1970: The Pain Forum is about giving advise to members in pain. Unfortunatley, I think you're on you're own when it comes to finding medication. I don't think MedHelp endoses this. I also think that it is up to a Doctor or professional to prescribe Methadone.
666834 tn?1338564994 Hi everyone. This forum has been very helpful for me, especially when i first got diagnosed with Fibro. I've been managing it pretty well these last few months and i have tried to go without any pain meds. I am usually a very positive person and I have never suffered from overwhelmig sadness but these last 2 weeks i've been having a lot of crying spells, i feel extremely drained and i feel like i have a huge weight on me.
358486 tn?1294779988 I totally disagree with High Noon. Considering that this is the Pain Management Forum, I dont find that Brandy F should be limited to the Fibro forum. Pain is pain.
Avatar n tn Thanks so much for this forum. Its a godsend for people who need help. I currently have symptoms of pain, numbness and tingling in many areas of my body including face, abdomin, hands, arms, legs, buttocks. Lower back aches a lot. The lower back ache, front of leg pain/sensation (particularly thigh) and abdomin pain is new. I have not seen Dr. about that. I have RA. Many tests, blood normal except RF positive, ANA neg. though.
