fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Everything has been fine until recently I started having joint pain which became worse so I had blood test which are as follows Free T3 5.27pmol/1 Free T4 15.98pmol/1 and TSH 0.20mIU/ml. My previous readings were alot lower. My doctor says I have fibromyalgia and has given me Lyrica and Betaloc as my blood pressure is quite high. He hasnt changed my thyroxine dosage which is strange if the results are alot different than normal.
1184051 tn?1264438908 Hi I am new to this site, but my doctor said in I probably have fibromyalgia about a year ago. I had an MRI done today and it came back negative. My dr. had me have the MRI because of increasing fatigue, tingling body parts, headaches, major memory problems! Now I have to go to a neurologist. I just feel that I will have a bunch of tests and they will say they don't know or label me with fibromyalgia, but do they take it as a serious condition?
Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?
4861077 tn?1360159739 ), free T4, Free T3 (free means available), and check reverse T3, which if too high slows cellular metabolism. And tests aren't the be all/end all. Symptoms matter...but if adrenal problems exist simultaneously that muddies the water, and confusing the two symptom sets means dosing thyroid higher based on ongoing fatigue could create a need to watch for dosing thytoid too high.
Avatar n tn fish, fruit, nuts, some meat, healthy fats/oils, lots of veggies. kefir. gluten free, usually grain free. I have good relationships, a great boyfriend, and family. though i often still become depressed now and then. i become so fatigued, and i lay in bed until the afternoon with pain, heart palpitations, a very sore throat, and very low motivation most days. I'm expected to look for work, so I do.
5682570 tn?1372290919 Hi sallyalewis and welcome to the forum. I have filed some notes and a couple replies to members on this- It just happens that I have a report relative to this for my Naturopathic studies, so it all came in handy. First some natural remedies you may want to look into: My daughter who's a holistic health practitioner and aromatherapist uses a few drops of Organic Peppermint Oil over the itchy areas. You may also try Aloe Vera gel, as this works well too.
Avatar f tn I posted my intro here yesterday, so I won't go into all my details, but after 2-3 years of odd symproms and random/chronic muscle pain my neurologist has suggested that I have fibromyalgia. She said I should discuss it with my famil doctor at my next appt, which is in July. Both doctors have run me through countless tests to rule out other neuro and autoimmune diseases including MS. My family doctor really felt like I may be depressed.

I had to takes injections throughout my back, neck, chest, hands and legs. I felt so light and free for 1 week post-treatment. Now I feel burning pain near my neck, head, hip region and legs. It is worse than before. I ham on complete rest for the past 2 months. Does ozone really work??? what is happening in my case??
209591 tn?1267418314 Hi, I am a 25 year old female that was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in August along with many other things...I have been staying so tired, some days sleeping more than 15 hours....Just getting out of bed sometimes is almost impossible...For you all what has been the most helpful treatment (exercise, therapy or medication) for your fatigue? All of my medicines cause fatigue and so do all 8 to 10 diagnoses I currently have...Thanks so much for your help.
Avatar n tn Since I've had Fibromyalgia, I have constant bursitis in my greater trocanter (hip bursa) as well as a constant inflammation of my SI joints. I receive shots in my hips every few months, sometimes monthly. I do the exercises given to me by my DO, however, I have only short term relief from the shots. I apply ice. I still have the bursitis and it won't go away. I never had any hip injuries prior or since to cause bursitis. Does anyone else have recurrent bursitis with their Fibromyalgia?
975514 tn?1325001538 section_id=27670#sec_27670 I urge you to introduce yourself below and tell us a little about what brought you to the Fibromyalgia/CFS Forum. Again, welcome to MedHelp and the Fibromyalgia/CFS forum!
Avatar f tn I myself am on GF/CF, sugar free, through a nutricianist because I have a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. This has helped me no-end. I no longer have a constant headache, I no longer feel drugged. I am not tired all the time. The pain in my muscles is slowly subsiding. So I am now trying GF/CF with my son. It is too early for me to say definately yes or no to its success. I think it takes a very long time for gluten to get out of the system.
Avatar n tn You never got tested for low thyroid? Testing is called Free T3, Free T4, and TSH. Lots of pain and tingling with that, can be like fibro in bad cases. Daily Throid hormone fixes it.
Avatar f tn You should also have your free T4, free T3 and your thyroid antibodies done to rule out Hashimoto's or Grave's disease. You can have autoimmune thyroid disease, but have your thyroid still working properly, so your TSH would read normal. Eventually it will fail if you do have the autoimmune disease. You may want to check with your doctor to find out if he or she performed a detailed thyroid test or just the TSH.
Avatar f tn htm My husband and boys all deal with autism spectrum disorder issues. We decided to try a gluten-free, cassein-free (GFCF) diet to see if it helped any of us. I think it helps the guys somewhat but REALLY helps my Fibromyalgia. It is a difficult diet to follow but you might be amazed at how much better you feel. I have come up with some of my own recipes so I don't have to buy the expensive GFCF foods. It is definitely worth trying for at least a few months to see if it helps you.
Avatar f tn Hi All! I'm newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. The doctor wants me to start taking Gabapentin. Does anyone else take this and have you had good results? Thanks!
Avatar f tn What you decribe can also be symptoms of hypothyroid (low thyroid hormone). A TSH blood test is not enough - Drs are wrong in thinking this. The actual thyroid hormones need levels tested. Several blood test are avail able , but the most accurate are called "Free T3" and "Free T4". T4 is the stroarge hormone that should be (in a healthy body) converted to T3.
358486 tn?1294779988 I totally disagree with High Noon. Considering that this is the Pain Management Forum, I dont find that Brandy F should be limited to the Fibro forum. Pain is pain.
428266 tn?1295648380 I was told I have fibromyalgia without anything else being ruled out. Which leaves me feeling concerned because I have been hearing some symtoms of MS that sound like me. I get migranes with blurred vision usually in one eye at a time, like a zig zag blur that goes away in about 15 min. and then I get a headache after that. My headaches are so severe my oxycotin won't even help. And last but not least I have trouble swallowing certain foods like meats or something dry.
5757419 tn?1373701912 What are some ways to deal with fibromyalgia pain? I mean the pain is always present, what are ways to minimize it?
Avatar f tn I accidentally discovered 2 yrs ago (after going on a Daniel fast) that becoming gluten free DRASTICALLY improved my FMS. The level of pain has been reduced significantly. I was having migraines 5 out of 7 days, and now I'm having them only occasionally, maybe once in 3 months. I would recommend anyone to give this a try. I was on the Daniel fast for 21 days, but I saw the improvement within 14 days, so giving it a try for just 2 weeks would be well worth it.
Avatar f tn Hi! I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I have horrible pain and my doctors are trying to work with me to find a treatment that doesn't involve heavy pain meds. I have serious issues with my digestive system and so most pain medicine such as vicoden(sp?) or any of those types constipate me. I was hoping for a natural suggestion to talk with my doctor about.
1075109 tn?1281839291 So having listened to all of this it should come as no surprise that at 41, with a divorce in the works that I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia that keeps me awake for 36 hours at a time and then I get about 6 hours. Then we go for the 36 hours again. The pain has alot to do with it. It involves my neck, shoulder joints, elbows and hands. My hips and tailbone, my knees and ankles and the underside of my feet.
Avatar f tn Hi, as a fibromyalgia sufferer myself most of your symptoms do sound like fibromyalgia, however as it is part of an auto immune disease spectrum you need to eliminate MS, Lupus and Kidney problems. Vitamin D deficiency is common with fibromyalgia and kidney failure. My Vitamin D deficiency is caused by kidney failure and I take Adcal daily to replace what my body doesn't absorb. A side effect of VitD deficiency is bone pain, mild to severe.
1488606 tn?1288196238 I am not ready for that yet, but was wondering if anyone on this forum is on disability for fibromyalgia, was it hard to get since most doctors think we are just crazy.
Avatar n tn Has any one information on people with fibromyalgia who got better by treating Orthostatic Intolerance?
