Fibromyalgia flare up

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia flare up

Avatar f tn Of course my other diseases also have very similar symptoms so sometimes I don't know if its a Lupus flare or Fibro flare or RA, or Sjogrens. I'm pretty sure all the numbing and tingling and burning sensations are of Fibro. Wpw 69 degress is too cold for me, I would have to be bundled up. Hope your feeling better, continue to post if you need another info I can help with. Fibro is such a horrible condtion, I wonder what they called it before?
Avatar f tn Go by your local library and see if they have any books on fibromyalgia. Educate yourself. I picked up a great book called "Fibromyalgia for Dummies". It had specific exercises and other treatment options that you might want to try. Realistically speaking, a pain-free life might not ever be. The goal should be a life that I can function. I was extremely sick a year ago. Unable to even get out of bed.
Avatar m tn Sorry to say that FM is not curable. But you can get it under control with the right meds. You must find a doc that is well informed on this problem. I have had a flare up since Oct.07 & am still in pain daily. But I have learned how to do what I can & don't over due things or you will end up paying for it for a few days or weeks after. Do not push yourself to get things done as you will suffer for it in the end.
358486 tn?1294779988 My first symptoms were over 4 years ago. I was just recently (2 months ago) FINALLY diagnosed with Fibro. after having every conceivable test run! I have been poked, prodded and pinched for 4 years. So, with that being said...The very first thing I noticed was that I was just unable to "recover" from yard work. I have never been a sedintary person and about one year to one and half years after my third child was born, I noticed that raking, gardening, mowing would just KILL me!
Avatar m tn Any physical or emotional trauma can cause a flare up of fibromyalgia symptoms. It is best to seek a second opinion and have a discussion on the possible alternatives, especially conservative treatments if possible. In fibromyalgia medicines should always be used along with exercise and behavior therapy. Consult an experienced doctor. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn I'm new here and I haven't had a fibromyalgia diagnosis, but I have had muscle twitching all over (mostly in my legs) and that has died down quite a bit, but I've have tired muscles and I have been so tired. I get tender spots that hurt for no reason to the touch. This past Saturday I went dancing and almost didn't make it through the first song, my legs started to hurt so bad. I woke up the next morning and it felt like someone had beat my legs with a baseball bat.
Avatar f tn in spine, legs, hands shooting pains/burning pains (severe enough to wake me up) poor sleep wake up in pain stomach/Gi issues such as constipation, heartburn, bloating dry eyes fatigue pain is seeming to get worse/last longer I was found to have stenosis in my cervical spine on an MRI caused by a bulging disc. My neurologist suggested this was the source of most of problems including headaches, pain, tingling.
358486 tn?1294779988 There are pressure points that are part of diagnosing Fibromyalgia. Google "fibromyalgia pressure points" online for a drawing of the human body that shows those points. If you push at least a half-dozen areas and it hurts, you probably have it. Fibro is painful and is often accompanied by headaches.
Avatar f tn So my question is, has anyone else had a flare up of symptoms after an EMG and/or nerve conduction test? The nurse (of the neuromuscular specialist) says that there are no side effects from these tests and seemed very doubtful of my reaction. My family doctor, however, feels it threw my nervous system into overdrive. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. What do I do?
Avatar n tn every month when it's that time of the month is when everything gets the worse for me. my eyes are dryer, skin, mouth everything. migranes flare up, numbness in the face & i have trouble sleeping. it starts right before my period maybe about a week or a week and a half before and ends maybe a few days after the last day of my period. it is HORRIBLE! i wonder if anyone else has the same problem?
Avatar f tn Getting in and out of the car and doing the stairs really kill me. And the fibromyalgia seems to be in a flare-up as well. Seems like a moderate flare-up. All my trigger points are acting up and I've been fatigued, but I can't really get great sleep. (Which for me is really important.) I do take Ambien, though I've sort of laid off it a bit, just because I don't want to be dependent on that as well as the other meds I take.
Avatar n tn I was diagnoised with fibromyalgia in 1998 and had that one big flare up and a few little bouts since then but nothing like what I am going through now after injuring my back on 1-18-2008 causing a herniated disk. I was given two of the steroid shots in my back and my symptoms really got worse to the point where I could not walk, extremely weak legs and hips and it feels as if my legs are going to buckle on me along with intense aching pain and a feeling like my thighs are on fire sometimes.
Avatar f tn It's only when I lift my arm and try to turn it to the left at all. (it's my left shoulder) Could I being having a flare up due to the change in weather? I forget and the pain is so bad when it happens I actually cry out. I don't know why I keep forgetting or maybe I'm trying it to see if it still hurts. Is anyone having flare ups right now in the northeast? Someone please answer b'cuz if it's not a flare up then it might be my rotor cuff. Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to all!
551343 tn?1506834118 Hello my name is fibromyalgia The bringer of fatigue, depression and neuralgia Yes i'm the one that's ruining your life Because i have now taken over your wife Do you hear her crying out in vain Begging for someone, anyone to take away the pain Always moaning at you in that whiney tone Ranting and raving at you even on the phone Have you noticed that she doesn't seem all there That the plughole is full of her lovely long hair That her fingers swell and stiffen when she peels the spuds she's forg
709619 tn?1230165075 I use to get a flare once a month and now it's been "flared up" for a year now. The amount of sleep I get, hormones, what I eat, infections, and stress all are factors that can affect the pain.
4437322 tn?1354574957 Is there such a thing as severe fibromyalgia. Does it get worse over time for some fibro sufferers?
Avatar m tn Had anyone seen a rheumatoid specialist for this condition? Are they offering any treatments for it, other than the standard antidepressant treatment? Those treatments don't work for me, and there is no need to waste the money seeing a specialist for an antidepressant treatment that a family doctor could give me. My symptoms of chronic fatigue seemed to start with Epstein Barr, now I have the joint/nerve pain.
209591 tn?1267418314 I did get on my stationary bike tonight. About 2 minutes, but if I work it up it sure can't hurt! I am not in my flare now and want to get out of this awful fatigue. Just walking to that bike takes some talking myself into, but needed I think.
Avatar n tn I had to go back to see her because the hip bursitis was worsening- and that is when I got the diagnosis OF fibromyalgia. She told me that the actual hip bursitis could be causing a massive flare-up of the fibromyalgia and the pain from that alone could be affecting/inflaming all types of joints.
434278 tn?1324709825 The pain across the back of your shoulders is very typical of fibromyalgia. It is not uncommon for lupus patients to also have fibromyalgia. The one thing that seems to help with fibro is sleep. I take a benadryll and a melatonin to help me sleep. I'm not saying that you only have lupus. I was also told that all I had was fibro and deep don I knew I had more than fibro. I know people w/ fibro and they have never been as sick as I was.
560272 tn?1311353893 Oh man, months?????? Well I haven't been formally diagnosed, but I'm certain I have it. I have ALL the symptoms and 14 out of 18 tender spots. Plus I've had tests for years and everything always comes back normal. But "flare up" has only been going on for 3 days. So you actually suffer everyday???? Geeeeeez.
Avatar f tn As I enter my 19 year of having CD, I'm in yet another flare-up. The pain, nausea, cramping you name's there. I don't want another surgery. I don't have much small bowel left and it worries me a great deal. I don't want to be fed IV but I may not have a choice. I have all the issues associated with small bowel syndrome. I'm really kind of surprised that I'm not hooked to an IV. Not only do I suffer with CD, I have fibromyalgia and peripheral neuropathy and arthritis.

975514 tn?1325001538 A Fibromyalgia FLARE is a period of time when your Fibro symptoms are increased or out of control. It could last for less than an hour, or for months on end. Flares happen if you are not on correct treatment, if you don't have your treatment adjusted at the moment, or you encounter something that throws your treatment off. ***Remember, ALWAYS consult with your doctor about your particular symptoms. This post is meant only as a resource- not as a diagnostic tool!
Business woman3 Hello, Sometimes symptoms of fibromyalgia may flare up in pregnancy. At this time, no fibromyalgia medications are completely safe to use during pregnancy. In fact, doctors recommend that women with fibromyalgia go off of painkillers and antidepressants before they become pregnant. The safest treatments for pregnant women with fibromyalgia may include massage, exercise, yoga, meditation, and rest.

875863 tn?1271606985 Hi! I have Fibromyalgia, Asthma, IBS, and both incontinences along with Major Clinical Depression. I have been working with a Chiropractor for over 20 years. I have "episodes" we call them, of extreme weakness, where I have no choice but to lay down, and compose my muscles until I can move again. It feels like little electrodes sputing from the bone outward like tiny lighning bolts when it begins. It protudes throughout my body.
