fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Please read this article. They specifically mention fibromyalgia and how many physicians are not prescribing fibromyalgia medications and instead... giving their fibro patients medications like Aleve !! Isn't this fraud ?? Why aren't health insurance companies doing anything about this ? They are getting ripped off and so are we ! Half of Doctors Routinely Prescribe Placebos source: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/23/health/23placebo.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a year ago. I was recently told by someone that works with fibromyalgia patients that a gluten free diet could lessen my symptoms. Just trying to figure out what has or not has gluten has been confusing and a bit discouraging. But I am willing to try it if it works. Has anyone tried it? What were your results?
Avatar n tn I am up to taking 20 Norco a day for my fibromyalgia. Part of this is pain, but part is the agony and misery of feeling the worst mental fatigue and depression, anxiety, and panic ever. Since diagnosed with fibro, my whole personality has changed-can't enjoy anything or stuff I used to; don't feel happy; can't have fun or happiness with my son; don't want to go anywhere or do anything----AND THIS IS WHETHER I TAKE THE NORCO OR NOT!
Avatar m tn I have fibromyalgia, depression, rheumatoid and osteo arthritis. Your symptoms sound like me! Depression and anxiety will play a HUGE role in your pain. Does your pain increase when the weather changes? How is your diet? Vit D and stretch excersizes could help. I have been dealing with my pain since 1993 and it is NOT fun, I know how you feel. How is your sleeping? Mine SUKS. I would suggest going to doc and having blood work done. Have them test your SED rate and do an antibody screening.
529392 tn?1212983895 Those who got true acupuncture had notably bigger improvements in fibromyalgia symptoms than those who got fake acupuncture, write the researchers. (WEBMED) So,try it,good luck!
1522259 tn?1291214939 My pain management doctor is skeptical about Fibromyalgia being real or fake, and he has asked me to change my diet a bit, start stretching and exercising, quit smoking, eliminate things like sugar, caffeine, etc., and eat and sleep on a regular schedule. If I cn prove that I'm seriously trying to change bad lifestyle choices, he will believe that I'm truly in chronic pain and that I do indeed have Fibromyalgia. I am willing to do whatever he asks to benefit my life.

Avatar n tn Someone said that I may have Fibromyalgia. I've been to a doctor in the past, he kind of blew me off-just prescribed me medicine. I'm able to work, so I don't think that is the problem. Any suggestions!!
Avatar m tn i have finally been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, i go to a specialist in my area on the 18 he actually has fibromyalgia himself....which makes me feel a little better bc i feel as if maybe he will understand what i am going through a little better than other doctors might...there is a big difference from studying it and doing test rather than actually dealing with it every day....i was wondering what treatments you all have tried and how they have worked for you.....
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia, ddd, and scoliosis... i recently found out that i am pregnant. This will be my second child and all of my health issues began after my first child.... I went to the OBGYN today and he told me that Fibromyalgia is a B.S. diagnosis and that i am just going to have to deal with the pain and its going to get worse not better. Those were his exact words.
Avatar n tn Some are even treating her like she is drug seeking, and all these pain attacks are fake. Could it possibly be that this is all just in her head and none of this pain is real? I care alot about her, but I dont know how to approach her about this. I think that maybe she would totally turn away from me and thats the last thing I want. If this is all in her head, I know she needs help, but I dont know how to approach this. Can anybody help?
1429415 tn?1308271820 The first part is saying where you have tender points which you need I think 18 to be considered as having fibromyalgia. So when he pressed on the bilateral occiput area of the body it was painful to you, etc. You'll have to google the different tender points. Saying the control points are negative is a good thing. They press on certain other parts of your body to see if you have a reaction to them. It is a way of seeing if you are faking it basically. Your test said that you weren't faking it.
Avatar m tn I don't remember being sick the first time I got these symptoms, but I was a few weeks into taking antibiotics (minocyclim, bactrim, rifampin) for a fake lyme disease I didn't have that I was told was causing my myofascial trigger points. The sensations went away after about 6 months and stayed away for over a year. The second time I have this I was about 6 months into an extremely high fat low carb diet called a ketogenic diet.
Avatar m tn I have noticed that my other pain like body aches and other joint pain have increased exponentionely since I started taking them. The doc says he thinks I may have fibromyalgia but it was never nearly this bad. Also I am getting ready to have knee replaced and the doc is sending me home with the same meds and I am afraid they will not address the pain after the surgery. I am trying to wean myself off them before the surgery and am getting withdrawal but it is scheduled for end of next week.
5764859 tn?1400885356 Luckily I had my doctor on board my psychiatrist and my counselor all in agreement I suffer from schizoaffective disorder, ocd, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety with panic attacks, and dissociative identity disorder not including my physical ailments of chronic migraines and fibromyalgia when the judge based their decision it was all on my mental health hope this helps
Avatar f tn I just think the doctor could have mentioned which blood tests he ordered. People don't often fake fibromyalgia and anxiety to get a hold of 1 1/2 mg of klonopin a day. And that 600 mg of neurontin is less than people take for shingles. Celexa isn't any fun either. I should be asking for a morphine drip if I'm gonna go through full drug screens periodically.
Avatar m tn She is always in constant pain from her fibromyalgia and other pains she has from old age. Yesterday she said she ran out of pain pills and took Gabapentin that she got from someone in the family. She also smoked some legal synthetic marijuana ( natural herbs and stuff ) that they sell at the mall. It seems she had some wild adverse affect that really has her mind messed up. She is better now, but she isnt the same. She doesnt seem like the same person any more and its so heart breaking.
Avatar n tn I wasn't in a car accident, I don't have Fibromyalgia, I'm relatively normal and healthy. When I started taking Tramadol, I was just a little depressed and thought it could help. I am completely self medicated. No prescription or evil doctor here. I started with one from a friend's prescription and I was off to the races.
214864 tn?1229718839 Doctors in these specialties often see patients with chronic illnesses or chronic pains that are difficult, if not impossible, to cure. Sometimes fake medicine -- placebos -- make such patients feel better. Fake drugs can have very real benefits. It's called the placebo effect. In clinical trials, many patients who receive placebos do better than real-world patients who get no treatment at all, notes study researcher Jon C. Tilburt, MD.
Avatar f tn My Neurologist said it works on some but more than half his patients using it for pain management, restless leg and fibromyalgia, had so many side effects they have stopped taking it.
Avatar n tn I got acrylic nails, but even they my nails are so weak underneath, that I even have issues with the fake nails. The area around my cuticles is red (like I've had my hands in dish water a lot). My dermatologist had a name for it, but I don't remember what. I got a toenail fungus (ugh!) last summer, that I can't seem to get rid of. I have dry eyes, dry mouth (never leave the house without a beverage), depression, fatigue, and chronic constipation, (which keeps getting worse).
Avatar f tn You could try bringing up fibromyalgia instead of CFS (they are pretty similar, with the main symptoms being pain and fatigue, but CFS is EXTREME fatigue, when Fibro is more based off the pain you feel) I find that doctors don't get freaked out by Fibro like they do when a patient says something about CFS. Also, it's best to NOT mention the internet during an appointment.
701334 tn?1262857103 I don't tell any doctor I am seeing that I was once told I had fibromyalgia, because the minute you tell them that, they stop looking for the cause of your pain. Now, I do believe that my body is this way because that is just how I was made. I am a weird one, a freak of nature as my husband calls it. In my opinion a lot of my issues stemmed from being untreated, misdiagnosed with graves disease for six months, hit two thyroid storms before having a TT. I think that did a number on my body.
982333 tn?1305792489 I recently started to take acupuncture for my fibromyalgia. one of the first thing she asked me was did my ears hurt. now I know it is coming from the fibro, also I notice for me sugar really makes it worse.
1197776 tn?1265315111 I have Stage 2 Chronic Kidney disease related to Sjogren's Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, also have neuropathy problems over a few areas of my body. My migraines have been getting worse over the last year, more intense, more increased sensations, lasting longer. I have tried Topamax but I didn't care for the side effects so discontinued that med, I have been on a regimen of Verapimil, Amitriptyline and Depakote for a little while now but I really don't feel like any of that is working.
Avatar f tn I Have A Lot Of Other Stuff Going On Such As My Health (Fibromyalgia, Dislocated Disc In My Neck And Back), Can't Get A Job, Keep Getting Denied For Disability,Much Much More. TOO MUCH! What Should I Do?
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia, Phn and psoriasis on hands and my feet. I can't walk or function without my meds. I take Percocet and morphine. I see my pm every 3 months and she writes me handwritten scripts for all three months. I keep them on file with the pharmacy. I always followed the rules and passed every single drug test. My husband left me after 22 years of marrimage for another woman. He left us with nothing. I dont drive or have a car.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Sjogren’s syndrome and possibly Fibromyalgia. I never use to miss work however this year I have missed about 10 days due to severe stomach problems. The attacks would come about every three months at first and last for about a week to two weeks. I would usually miss a day or two of work before I could bring myself to go back and act normal. The last time the problems did not go away, the continued for about two months with maybe a day or two of relief here and there.
Avatar f tn Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum. The flare-up finally broke and I was dealing with the regular pain. (I post mainly about my hand because that's what's most disabling to me, though my other pain is significantly bad as well.
Avatar f tn Welcome. I went through the same slew of tests. I was misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia for 12 years or so. It took a specialist in Lymes disease to know regular labs do not show results properly for Lymes. I have Lymes, Babesia and Mycoplasma, all from a tick bite I never found. Lymenet.org or .com can find you a dr. In your area. Do not go by maps of active Lymes areas.
