fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn For thyroiditis avoid large quantities of soy products. This means no soy burgers and soy milk and other stuff. It is proven to mess up inflamed thyroids. Veggies like broccoli are also not good, I forget what in it thats bad.
526889 tn?1212540641 For your age you need 1500 calories daily to safely lose weight. I would recommend a Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar n tn What types of things have you tried? We basically follow a GFCF diet at home due to fibromyalgia and ASDs in our family. We got a mill to make our own rice flour. We also use masa. Milk wise, we use rice milk and soy milk. We have come up with recipes for cookies, pancakes, spaghetti sauce, chili, banana bread, etc. We also do tacos with corn tortillas and sometimes have 'beanie tacos' (that my kids really like) where we put refried beans, onions, and sauce on the corn tortillas.
Avatar f tn pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal) and limit ‘junk’ foods.
Avatar n tn For protein we eat whole grains, potatoes, legumes, quinoa , and lots of fruits and veggies you can have some soy and soy milk for the calcium. But, it supposedly reverses arthritis, athroschlerosis, diabetes, and a variety of things. If you are interested in reading about it there are several doctors that have written about the same type of diet. But basically, the book the Starch Solution by John A.
1132657 tn?1260554069 But in doing my own research about it and seeing another gasto doc the nurse asked one question the other gastro doc might have asked and never did and that was about my diet. At the time I was drinking soy protein shakes. Soy is very hard on some people and I already have issues with digestion. I stopped drinking the protein drinks, changed a lot of things about my diet and my stomach problems, started a mild exercise program and it all calmed down.
Avatar f tn 1. Can I consume soy products? Is it suggested to consume soy products thrice every week. (I'm not sure about this. Somewhere I have read that soy has protein and for PCOS one should combine carbohydrate with protein, so it is good to have soy products. I have also read soy has phytoestrogen (estrogenic activity) so it will add to the already elevated levels of estrogen in the body of a PCOS sufferer, so it should be avoided.
140029 tn?1393298142 I just left a message with my allergist asking for a food elimination diet. I 99% sure i'm soy intolerant and suspect corn but I can't find the problem holding me up...(I know there's an allergy section but this one is more active). Hopefully my allergist will respond but sometimes only $$$ motivates doctors (office visit is like $200+ and i'm unemployed with this problem) does anyone know any good elimination diets? I did one but never knew about white potatoes for example..
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago I met with a dietician and stated an anti inflammatory diet. I have pulmonary nodules thought to be caused by a gluten intolerance and I cut sugar, dairy, gluten corn, soy etc. a week ago I stopped the Prilosec and I am down to one Zantac 150 per day with very few symptoms. I have a hydrogen breath test tomorrow as my GI feels like my problem isn’t LPR and may be SIBO. I have a HIDA scan Monday to check a distended gallbladder seen on a recent mri to check a simple renal cyst.
Avatar f tn Soy products/tofu are good sources of protein, however, if you have thyroid issues, you should not eat/drink soy. Beans and legumes are also good sources of protein, as are eggs, dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) and whole grains. I don't eat soy, a lot of beans or legumes, so, unfortunately, I can't provide recipes, but you can do a search.
Avatar f tn You get protein from plant sources, such as soy milk, rice milk, soy yogurt, soy cheese, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. As a vegan you need to combine grains and nuts / seeds for essential protein have to be used daily such as rice and beans, pasta and beans, nuts to oatmeal, peanut butter and bread, and salad and nuts. You can also eat the soy and rice products mention above. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals.
Avatar f tn It was from soy. In 1998 I decided to start eating soy as a replacement for protein. While my diet had very little protein as I was a vegetarian, I could now finally have the protein I always craved and I found it in soy frozen food products. I also developed a love for coffee to keep me going with all the issues I was going through at that time. So here I had my soy food to finally eat and coffee with cream and sugar to keep me feeling good.
Avatar f tn It depends on the kind of soy. Soy doesn't cause thyroid problems, but some people with Hashimoto's Disease, a form of hypothyroid autoimmune disease, can have bad reactions to soy. Soy milk is fine, tofu is fine, tempeh and other fermented soy products such as miso and natto and real soy sauce (this doesn't mean Kikkoman) are fine, fresh soy beans (edamame) are fine, but this shouldn't obviously be the sum total of your diet.
Avatar m tn A Heart Healthy diet would be the best type of diet to help decrease any complications of the disease and to stay healthy overall. A Heart Healthy diet means a moderate fat diet to lower the fat content of your foods and increase ‘good’ fats to benefit your body. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar f tn I have done some reading online about diets and endometriosis and was wondering if anyone has any advice or further information relating to this. I have found that a gluten free diet has made a difference with the pain and try to avoid too many dairy products and preservative rich foods. Any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
1466208 tn?1286663962 Anyone have any feedback or opinions about the "diet". I had done very little research into it, but have, however seen the book and read into it a slight amount. It talks about removing wheat from the diet, caffiene, alchohol, etc. Now, I am already a pretty healthy eater, but Im reluctant to take this step when going to a totally wheat free diet can be VERY expensive. Anyone have an opinion? Know anything? Personal experiences?
Avatar m tn [posted by kristy2078 ,live Journal] While trying to figure out what caused this uncommon hypothyroid goiter, I discovered that the patient was vegetarian and eat the soy until get concerned about he weight gain and was diagnosed in April, 08 with hypo. I will not say that being vegetarian and eating the soy will make everybody like this, but if the genetic or whatever predisposition to thyroid disorders is present, it is going to happen.

Avatar n tn Soy can be things like tofu, soy milk, edamame, and soy burgers but a lot of products may contain soy so you have to check labels to see. There are certain foods that if you are very *brittle* on your meds - as in you are going up and down and all over, perhaps you should avoid soy and goitrogenic foods such as uncooked cabbage, broccoli. http://www.ehow.com/how_2319202_that-may-hurt-thyroid-gland.html Now, foods high in iodine http://www.weightlossforall.com/foods-rich-iodine.
