Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia diet guaifenesin

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I just purchased a book titled "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia Fatigue", and in it the author (Dr. R. Paul St. Amand, M.D.) mentions a protocol that he himself uses, and that he also tells all of his fibro patients to try. It requires you to take upto, but not limited to 2400mg of guaifenesin (Mucinex) daily. He says that with this protocol, you will notice that your symptoms will at first become worse, but will gradually disappear.
554442 tn?1221238825 It's a common misconception that fibromyalgia is an inflammatory or rheumatological condition, but it is not. While researchers still have many theories about the mechanisms behind fibromyalgia, many of them now believe the condition is more neurologically based. Aleve (naproxen sodium) and ibuprofen-based drugs (Motrin, Advil) are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and are most effective against pain that accompanies inflammation.
1194973 tn?1385507504 Ok, it's not been officially confirmed I have Fibromyalgia yet, however I've been told by my doctor it's highly likely. I see a rhemotologist on the 22nd of this month. I need advice how what to say/tell and things I can do to possibly help. Or why the heck I have such a weird mix of issues. On a regular basis I have pain. It feels muscular, almost akin to growing pains.
1201929 tn?1293711672 Guaifenesin is used to loosen and thin mucus. Recommended Dosage: First of all, see this warning about possible birth defects from the use of guaifenesin. Now, if you still want to try this, make very sure that you buy the plain type that has no letters after the name. Some of the varieties contain decongestants, which will actually dry up your mucus. The recommended dosage for increasing cervical mucus is 2 teaspoons (200 mg) three times a day, with a full glass of water.
922048 tn?1387946184 My OB finally decided to help me with my chronic yeast infection. Now, mind you, this isn't the typical vaginal yeast infection with the symptoms you would think. I simply am told every time I get a pap smear that everything is ok, but I have a yeast infection. In all the previous years, they would give me 1 or 2 tabs of Diflucan and send me on my way. Problem is it never actually went away.
Avatar m tn I was just speaking with a friend of mine, who also has CFS. We were discussing how we believed that some symptoms can cause changes in peoples personality. There was a woman with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity who ended up in jail. The reason ? She was going crazy and committed a stupid crime... in my opinion, because of her illness. I believe it is physical... rather than psychological (at least for the most part).
1194973 tn?1385507504 Ok, so I saw my rheumatologist and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and CFS. My doctor wants me to start with a therapist now, but I don't know when I'll have time. My issue now is just... How does anyone else handle it? Are there ways to cope without medication and the like?
1553907 tn?1367613186 The salicylate content in aloe vera, however, can block the positive effects of guaifenesin if you are using that medication for your fibromyalgia. Otherwise, aloe vera juice (with the latex removed) is as about as toxic as apple juice. Keep an open mind. There is always more to the story...
Avatar n tn The ER doc was very good. He suggested that I have Fibromyalgia and my pains are symptoms of this ellusive disease. It makes some sense because I did not have classic gallbladder symptoms like nausea. I have other symptoms which can be attributed to fibromyalgia - fatigue, insomnia, etc. This is thought to be a reumatoid type disease. I'm going to look into this some more and will let you all know what I find out.
Avatar f tn I have been in multiple car accidents but only ended up with bulging discs, whipflash, and spranged something. I was diagnosed with having Fibromyalgia in 2002. I just read in some of my previous doctors notes from 1999 that I had rhematoid arthritis. My blood work came back and my doctor said she thinks I have anemia. I have a doctor's appt. with a Rheumatologist 5/1/08. Too long of a wait. I have Straight Medicaid only.
798555 tn?1292791151 Joints became tender stiff and sore and also ached. The worse of it was the sharp shooting pains that stabbed me though out my body. (Fibromyalgia) I felt like 200 lbs were on my shoulders when walking.. Heartburn, blurred vision, sweating, hotness at times. Hands and feet felt froze at times. Skin turned red like a sunburn. Stomach knotted and hurt/cramped felt nauseated. The worse part.. It's been 3 months and some symptoms are still lingering because now I've gone hyper.
Avatar f tn So, what dose did everyone here have their success? And what type of diet/eating plan and exercise plan did you do to help it along? I'm desperate to lose 40 lbs (half of which I gained on Zoloft-no longer taking). PLEASE respond if you had any weightloss on this drug, I'm very curious. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn What doctor thinks saline solution needs a script?! He also suggested Mucinex (guaifenesin) which I took today and which helped drainage but only for a couple of hours. My GP insisted it wasn't time for an ENT. Very frustrating. He seemed to think this wasn't the same problem I've been having since May, like he thought I just had several small sinus infections and not one eight-month-long illness.
