Avatar n tn Accupture, chinese herbs, massage, special joint strengthing exercises, homopathic, diet changes, all have helped for some people. Then there's the real alternative stuff like removing all mercury fillings (only fits a small % of people), and stuff I dont' remember because it's not right for me.
Avatar f tn I was recently told by someone that works with fibromyalgia patients that a gluten free diet could lessen my symptoms. Just trying to figure out what has or not has gluten has been confusing and a bit discouraging. But I am willing to try it if it works. Has anyone tried it? What were your results?
Avatar f tn There's some food for thought thanks so much! ... I am still awaiting my second lot of blood test results as some abnormalities did show up but funny thing is ... my dad has always claimed that I was wheat & gluten intolerant as a child but somehow it was never enforced enough to take this into adult hood when I left home so I myself have never cut it out of my diet ..

Avatar f tn I too am hypothyroid, my numbers have been in normal range, and I was diagnosised with fibromyalgia. I swear fibromyalgia is really part of thyroid disease. Please email me a ***@**** and tell me if your condition gets any better. I'm questioning if I should try adding a little iodine to see how it makes me feel. I've read its good and bad to use iodine from people, but I want to slowly try and see if it changes my pain.

Avatar m tn A lot of people have had success (and you'll never get your doctor admit it) by going on an elimination diet and then adding back foods slowly. Each of us seems to be sensitive to different foods but often it is dairy, gluten, sugar and caffiene. Research like crazy and share with us here and you will get lots of advice, again, some things work for some and other things for others.
Avatar m tn My doctor is sending me to be "tested" for Fibromyalgia. She has told me, and from what I have read, it is a disease that is difficult to diagnose. What test(s) do they use and how painful are the test(s)? Also, is Fibromyalgia a hereditary disease? My mother had it and my aunt has had it for the last two years. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I followed the protocol in KT's book and began my diet on the third day but Dr. Simmeon's protocol says to gorge for 3 days and then begin the diet. I don't know why there is a day difference in the protocols. Also I noticed that DR. Simmeon says to eat white fish but in KT's book he is specific about the white fish being halibut, Chilean sea bass, flounder or sole. Is anyone following just Dr. Simmeon's protocol and if so are you eating other white fish like orange roughy or tilapia?
Avatar m tn And i eat between a paleo and raw vegan diet but i'm going to try .The Okinawa Diet Food Pyramid but MINUS any grains and bread as their really bad for our insides period. Avatar m tn Depression and anxiety will play a HUGE role in your pain. Does your pain increase when the weather changes? How is your diet? Vit D and stretch excersizes could help. I have been dealing with my pain since 1993 and it is NOT fun, I know how you feel. How is your sleeping? Mine SUKS. I would suggest going to doc and having blood work done. Have them test your SED rate and do an antibody screening. Ask for an RA screening too.
1578792 tn?1310893478 There are a number of ways that Fibromyalgia can be diagnosed. It is a diagnosis of exclusion. Meaning, it is not uncommon for it to be diagnosed once everything else has been 'ruled out'. The areas of your pain are most likely trigger points, and if you push & poke around them, you might find a 'knot' in there that is painful. Some of my trigger points are not in the classic areas, but have a knot & are painful.
Avatar n tn If you are in the US, the bottom of normal is probably about 200pg/ml and some doctors think anything above that is ok unless you have other hematological changes, such as anaemia or megablastic (enlarged) blood cells. There are many medical reports from specialists in the field that totally disagree with this.
Avatar f tn Mostly I was saying I can't take meds or herbs because I'm too hyperreactive so I've had to find other things. Ideas would be food diet changes, behavior changes for the dysautonmias, very very very graduated exercise, sometime vitaimins and such can help. I've rambled about all at various times. I'll try to come back and recreate my post. But now I have to go do my walk (before the stores close - I'm not doing today's outside in the cold), and then caulk a tub. So, talk to you soon.

Avatar f tn I have had Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Immunodysfunction for 20 years. For me a 60 to 80 mg of Depo-Medrol (steroid) does help. (up to 2 times per year and only when I am REALLY bad.) I've heard that Lyrica is very good for fibro. patients but I personally cannot take it as I get the bad side affects. He also had me do a SLEEP STUDY 2 months ago. I have mild sleep apnea & now use a C-Pap at night which I love.
Avatar f tn No one ever mentions diet...probably the most important factor in fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, arthritis and other similar health problems is "what are you eating?" There is a group of foods called the Nightshade Plants which includes potatoes, eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, including capsicums, cayenne and chili peppers, tobacco. These plants contain a chemical alkaloid called solanine which can trigger pain in some people.

Avatar f tn My daughter does not. So, hence I notice changes in me with the diet, but not changes with her since she doesnt' have the allergy. Anyways, whatever you decide to do, just make sure your child gets a healthy balance of food from all the food groups and supplement with a vitamin if you can. My daughter loves those Flintstones toddler chewables. Yeah, they probably don't absorb as much as the organic whole food vitamin stuff, but she likes the Flintstones and will have one every day.
