401095 tn?1351395370 This association led to the discovery of the link between low serotonin levels and fibromyalgia, as well as to the use of 5-HTP in the treatment of fibromyalgia. Several clinical studies confirm the usefulness of 5-HTP in treating fibromyalgia. In one double-blind study, fifty patients with fibromyalgia were given either 5-HTP (100 mg) or a placebo three times per day. The group that received the 5-HTP experienced significant improvements in their symptoms.
Avatar m tn Franke: "No, you don't have fibro- you have side effects from Interferon!" I don't know how fibromyalgia fits into the autoimmune disorder spectrum. I thought that yes, tx can 'awaken' underlying autoimmune disorders or worsen pre-existing ones. Fibromyalgia, though, is treated with interferon, so I'm not sure how that plays out.

Avatar n tn Hi! Actually according to documentaed clinical trials on these two drugs it is best to avoid amytryptaline while you are on tramadol as amytryptalline can increase your risk of seizure if taken with tramadol. I would suggest you seriously reconsider taking the drugs together, and talk to your doctor. If you still need to take these two drugs, your doctor will need to monitor you closely. Take care!

Avatar n tn It is very hard to ascertain if Femara can directly cause fibromyalgia, since this condition or side effect is not routinely reported or classified in the clinical trials that used Femara. What Femara does, however, is that it can have a side effect in bone metabolism causing decreased bone mineralization that can cause bone pains and sometimes may lead to increased incidence of fractures. Hope this helps. Regards.

Avatar f tn She should definitely discuss this with her doctor though… Regarding any participation in clinical trials, if she sticks to ‘phase 3’ trials, many of the safety issues have been resolved already in earlier studies; at that point, it’s more about studying efficacy than safety concerns. Wikipedia has a decent overview of how these studies work: http://en.wikipedia.

Avatar f tn What your doc has seen is the new info on Cymbalta that came out when the manufacturer applied for an additional approval for fibromyalgia and other pain sufferers and the FDA committee discovered at least a dozen liver deaths from Cybalta.
