Avatar f tn I was just wondering what some of the causes were and if you perhaps were told of risk factors that could lead to not carrying to full term. I am sorry for your loss if you have experienced it, I know very well what a shock and emptiness it can leave and it changes you forever. Hope you can give advice so many women can be more informed.
Avatar f tn I read a comment that said there are risk factors that may play a role in one having MS and that a prior infectious trigger is one. I've ALWAYS been a magnet for UNUSAL diseases. scarlet fever, immuno-thrombocytopenia , chicken pox (2x). Could any of these have led to RRMS? Thanks for any light on this.
Avatar n tn the chance your partner had HIV and the statistical likelihood of transmission based on the details of the sexual exposure. It is estimated that about 1% of the Dominican Republic population is HIV positive, which is substantially higher than in the US as a whole, but not much different than among African Americans in the US. The overall HIV/AIDS rate in DR is not as high as in the Bahamas or Haiti, and not nearly as high as in sub-Saharan Africa.
Avatar f tn There are many causes for heart disease. There is a hereditary component, but many risk factors can be managed to reduce the risk such as proper diet, exercise, not smoking, moderate lifestyle, etc. What may be an issue with you as related to a heart risk could be your response to stressful situations that cause anxiety, etc. You are seeing a doctor and being treated so that may bode well for a reduction of any associated heart risk. Thanks for sharing, and take care.

Avatar f tn Memory loss is one of the features of stroke. It is important that you keep you risk factors for stroke under control if you have any. The risk factors include high BP, diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, obesity, chronic alcoholism and smoking and stress. It is important to know what symptoms do you currently have in order to advise you whether or not you should see a neurologist.
Avatar n tn Many possibilities exist, and depend somewhat on your age, your risk factors, and the nature of your symptoms (whether or not the numbness started suddenly or gradually, whether it is a complete loss of sensation or a tingling, whether it is an objective finding on examination or it is only a feeling that you have etc) . The most concerning cause of weakness on one side of the body is a stroke. Please understand I am not trying to imply you have a stroke, but only that this is one possibility.
Avatar f tn Wouldn't it be wonderful if we knew the answer to that one ?? If we knew, then it would be eliminated in hort order. There are a number of risk factors but that's all. Each case is treated on an individual basis but drugs and other advances are appearing daily.

736040 tn?1257436457 if you just had testing done and it was revealed that during the original implementation of closure it was not sealed fully you need to ask the docs if you are at risk for things further down the road and if they suggest a secondary seal implantation. I personally would be looking at risk factors if it were my body and then get pro active about it.
