Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia causes ptsd

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn I found a therapist who specialized in fibromyalgia and Ptsd. Once I addressed the underlying problem that caused my Ptsd, I stopped using medical mj and started doing yoga and practicing mindfulness meditation. I got out of a very painful fibromyalgia period with the things I mentioned above, and have not had an episode in over a year. Like I said before, I stopped using med. mj but then started again for my back pain thinking I might have another episode about 10 months ago.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I was just wondering what causes Fibromyalgia? Can Anxiety, Depression/Bipolar, IBS, or Genital Herpes cause it?

1348302 tn?1286575703 that in addition to the sponsylothesis/osis, thoracic facet syndrome, and PTSD, I also have the effects of fibromyalgia to deal with? In many ways it is also a weight of my shoulders to know that so many of the odd and bizarre things happening to my body are partially explained by something. It is extremely comforting to know that others have experienced the same things I have. Anyway.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Paxil for PTSD for several years. It has also markedly helped with my fibromyalgia , irritable bowel syndrome, and urinary incontinence.. When I first started taking it, it caused me to lose 27 pounds. I have heard from doctors that after a while the Paxil can "turn on you" and start causing the same symptoms it was alleviating, such as weight gain, anxiety, etc., as well as new symptoms.

Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?
Avatar f tn I've run a float center for three years; we float a dozen people every single day. I've only ever had one person experience a panic attack from claustrophobia (something he was completely unaware of until getting in), and very, very few experience "hallucinations". Don't believe everything you see in TV shows, and I would encourage you not to speak as if expert about something you have no personal experience with.
Avatar n tn I started taking such medication since then, and recently I have got to know that the main compound, propranolol, present in these medicine pills, is also used to treat PTSD which is a cure for the said, by erasing memory of the patient. i am just concerned for the fact that the prolonged use of propranolol might cause any sort of memory loss to me. Kindly advise me in this regard.
192368 tn?1224204130 I have been told that Fibromyalgia doesn't "get worse" as time goes on, but you have flare-ups. So if I am getting much worse than say a year ago--could it be something else? I was at least able to work a year ago, and now I am almost needing assistance. (with every day tasks, and sometimes walking even.) I guess I am just irritated and feel that none of my doctors are actually listening to me. They always say, "you look good".
997519 tn?1251239849 I have been through some tramatic events like the symptoms say because i have a chemical embalance i guess that causes me to have thoughts that tourture me. I get depressed too. I took Ibuprofen everyday and it stoped.
7450908 tn?1390996321 I was diagnosed with fibro about 18 years ago. I've been using Lyrica & was using Cymbalta for a while as well. I quit using the antidepressant because it seemed to make the depression worse. I'm on low income & I'm telling this medication is getting so expensive that I have a hard time affording to buy just a months worth at taking one a day. At certain times of the year I have to take more than one a day. Is there a more natural way to deal with fibro?
1194973 tn?1385503904 ) Ask the rhemotologist about the 18 TPRs. Diagnosis of fibromyalgia is made if 11 of these 18 points causes pain (and boy do they-come off the table). Areas throughout the body may feel "bruised" when touched. The tender point is considered to be positive if an approximate force of 4 kg of pressure causes pain when applied to the specific points.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes pain and stiffness throughout the tissues that support and move the bones and joints. Pain and localized tender points occur in the muscles, particularly those that support the neck, spine, shoulders and hips. The disorder includes widespread pain, fatigue and sleep disturbances.
Avatar f tn I don't know that it can cause PTSD. I could see how it would cause depression or anxiety but PTSD is a pretty serious disorder. Not downplaying that event I am sure it was tough but I can't in all good conscious tell you that it likely caused PTSD. However I am not a doctor I just have PTSD. I acquired this beautiful disorder from a lifetime of trauma starting with sexual, mental, and physical abuse leading up to my two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Avatar f tn I have had a hysterectomy due to the Endo, I have been diagnosed with IBS, Asthma, Migraines, PTSD, and Major Depression, but I have lots of pains in my right side all the time in right lower quadrant around where my ovary's are (I still have them) and it radiates up and into my back where my kidneys are. It's just constant pain all the time and then I get the sharp pains off and on throughout the day.
6361680 tn?1403274447 I've had my fibromyalgia diagnosis for five years now. I was managing things okay for a while. Few bad days but it was nothing like this. Been to see all kinds of doctors. My very close friend (ex) died from cervical cancer. After that.... The lethargy, binge eating, depression, pain, stiffness, tenderness everything is a million times worse and I'm about 75 pounds heavier. I'm now a stay at home mom raising my wifes son, he's almost four.
Avatar m tn so it could follow that someone who has the potential to get migraines may never get a migraine until a specific trigger is introduced (such as PTSD) and once that trigger is resolved (if it is another medical condition such as PTSD) or removed (if it is a new type of food in the diet or something like that), then they may never get a migraine again. Sometimes PTSD will be the result of an event which that may have also left other physical damages as well.
1640056 tn?1362508710 I want to know if anyone else has read or heard their doctor state that you fibromyalgia is caused by something traumatic before the age of 12? I have been told this was recent research, but not given a copy. The dr. is my pain specialist, and I believe him. I don't need to explain WHY but WHAT makes me believe this. We lived in the same home for 32 years. I was moving and had a 3 week notice. I had lots of help, but cleaning 3400 sq.
