fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?
2010625 tn?1329375656 I was just wondering what causes Fibromyalgia? Can Anxiety, Depression/Bipolar, IBS, or Genital Herpes cause it?
1550149 tn?1340004330 In primary fibromyalgia (also called idiopathic fibromyalgia) the causes are not known, and in secondary fibromyalgia the causes can be identified. Primary fibromyalgia is the more common form. Many experts believe that fibromyalgia is not a disease but rather a chronic pain condition brought on by a constellation of dysfunctional biologic responses to stress. Such individuals are thought to be more susceptible to stress because of traumatic personal histories, genetic factors, or both.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am Jana! Hope you are feeling well Today! I also Suffer from Fibromyalgia & a Whole Slew of Other Medical Problems as you can see from my Profile! I believe all my Medical Issues are somehow related b/c before the age of 26 I was Never Sick! They all just Started Coming One after the Other! I think Fibromyalgia is Probably the Most Painful of All, in my Opinion! That & the Fact that I have Several Herniated & Bulging Discs is enough to make One Go Crazy! The Dr.
659608 tn?1318292966 And, as bad as this pain is, I'm not willing to have to end up going to some awful pain management clinic or some methadone clinic to break the addiction cycle that this stuff causes. Because the truth is, the legal stuff causes just as many problems as the street stuff.
Avatar f tn if the tests don't show anything, he has notified me that he won't be going back to a doctor again about this issue). I'm fairly sure that in the end the pain issue will end up being fibromyalgia, and interestingly I found out that it sometimes is triggered by PTSD. Sorry for the longwindedness but this isn't a simple problem to tackle. My questions are: 1. Does this sound like PTSD? 2. If so, how should he deal with it? Getting 'help' (mental) is NOT an option. trust me I've tried.
1852058 tn?1320162300 Also, get a HHV6 IFA test for antibodies and a CD57. HHV6 virus reactivates when you are immunosuppressed and causes MS like symptoms. A CD 57 test looks at your immune system. If it shows anything under 60, you have a good chance at having Lymes and coinfections of HGE, Babesia, Bartonella or all 4 at one time. These are INTRACELLULAR bacteria and WILL NOT show up on standard blood testing. Do you retch/throw up occasionally? chronic headaches? eye pain? sore feet/ ankles?
Avatar f tn I found a therapist who specialized in fibromyalgia and Ptsd. Once I addressed the underlying problem that caused my Ptsd, I stopped using medical mj and started doing yoga and practicing mindfulness meditation. I got out of a very painful fibromyalgia period with the things I mentioned above, and have not had an episode in over a year. Like I said before, I stopped using med. mj but then started again for my back pain thinking I might have another episode about 10 months ago.
Avatar f tn My daughter is a cosmetologist and she told me the topo causes the hair follicles to close. What has fallen out, wont grow back, but the hair loss should stop when you discontinue the drug. The Topo really messed up my cycle too. I think my adrenals took a hard hit from just two weeks on the drug. For me it was not worth it. I was stupid, depressed and started having panic attacks on it. I would loose blocks of time. Huge blocks.

Avatar n tn After years of treating for Fibromyalgia and getting increasingly worse, I have been diagnosed with Dermatomyositis, Lupus and Fibro as secondary. My life since March when I first started getting sick has made a dramatic change. Every little thing causes the greatest of concern. In addition, my husband was diagnosed with PTSD from Vietnam. We've only been married 3 years and getting his diagnosis was tough enough. Now this.

560501 tn?1383616340 Good topic Tonya! So many dx's always makes me wonder if there really is only one and since doc's can't figure it out, you end up with a whole bunch of them. I have been dx with: IBS, Interstitial cystitis, Inappropriate tacycardia, hypotension, RAD, GERD, CFIDS, Fibromyalgia, Roscae, osteoarthritis, DFSP, rosacea, attention deficit, narcolepsy... There's probably more but that's plenty to list!!
1348302 tn?1286579303 that in addition to the sponsylothesis/osis, thoracic facet syndrome, and PTSD, I also have the effects of fibromyalgia to deal with? In many ways it is also a weight of my shoulders to know that so many of the odd and bizarre things happening to my body are partially explained by something. It is extremely comforting to know that others have experienced the same things I have. Anyway.
1194973 tn?1385507504 Ok, it's not been officially confirmed I have Fibromyalgia yet, however I've been told by my doctor it's highly likely. I see a rhemotologist on the 22nd of this month. I need advice how what to say/tell and things I can do to possibly help. Or why the heck I have such a weird mix of issues. On a regular basis I have pain. It feels muscular, almost akin to growing pains.
Avatar f tn I have had a hysterectomy due to the Endo, I have been diagnosed with IBS, Asthma, Migraines, PTSD, and Major Depression, but I have lots of pains in my right side all the time in right lower quadrant around where my ovary's are (I still have them) and it radiates up and into my back where my kidneys are. It's just constant pain all the time and then I get the sharp pains off and on throughout the day.
6361680 tn?1403278047 I've had my fibromyalgia diagnosis for five years now. I was managing things okay for a while. Few bad days but it was nothing like this. Been to see all kinds of doctors. My very close friend (ex) died from cervical cancer. After that.... The lethargy, binge eating, depression, pain, stiffness, tenderness everything is a million times worse and I'm about 75 pounds heavier. I'm now a stay at home mom raising my wifes son, he's almost four.
1640056 tn?1362512310 I want to know if anyone else has read or heard their doctor state that you fibromyalgia is caused by something traumatic before the age of 12? I have been told this was recent research, but not given a copy. The dr. is my pain specialist, and I believe him. I don't need to explain WHY but WHAT makes me believe this. We lived in the same home for 32 years. I was moving and had a 3 week notice. I had lots of help, but cleaning 3400 sq.
Avatar n tn After sitting with a bent leg it is difficult to move and feels like dead weight. As I said before stretching causes muscle cramping which is very frustrating to me. In my early twenties I was diagnosed with ptsd from a late childhood trauma, chronic mild to moderate depression and generalized anxiety disorder. I manage my symptoms without drugs through meditation and mindfulness. I am usually very tired even though I get enough sleep. My lifestyle is more sedentary than I would like.
712802 tn?1274649085 So, I'm back to the previous regimen which works well for my Fibromyalgia. We are working on the PTSD with some biofeedback. I don't recall if you mentioned you were on any pain meds for the disc surgery or arthritis, if you are they may be contributing to your fatigue, but it is doubtful the Abilify is since it tends to have stimulative properties. It is my opinion (and only mine) that Adderall (not the extended release) may help you more & is far less costly.
Avatar f tn The point that may parallel Lyme is that these vets have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, when it turns out there seem to be identifiable, objective causes for their symptoms. These specific Gulf War Syndrome symptoms have nothing to do with Lyme, but this brings home the point that docs are sometimes inclined to imply the patient is faking or is a head case when there is no obvious or accepted cause.
Avatar f tn Every doctor I have taken her to has decided that she has PTSD and it's all somatization. She has been to therapists who say that she does have mild PTSD but they don't prescribe anything or suggest any treatment other than perhaps yoga and meditation. I am at my wit's end and so is my daughter. She is in constant pain (some sternum and rib pain bouts) as well as migraines.
Avatar m tn The military has no idea what is wrong with me, and I stay in trouble for being sick which causes me more unnecessary stress. I just was wondering what kind of advice I might get on this web site. Here is my MRI, BRAIN WITH AND WITHOUT CONTRAST results The posterior fossa and supratentorial structures are developmentally normal. Multiple subcentimeter ovoid and punctate white matter foci involving the bilateral frontal lobes and left parietal lobe.
Avatar n tn In 2004, I added Neurontin to my pain management for prostatodynia (my uretha was burning like crazy), in addition to Norco 5/325. I had gone through biofeedback and it helped some but I still needed the pills. The pain management doctor's PA told me Neurontin would help and had few side effects. She was right about the first, but wrong about the second.
Avatar f tn Have you had an MRI of your neck? Stress and depression alone, can cause pain...PTSD also causes MANY symptoms too. I have no other suggestions for you...except to try and alleviate the strsses and worries in your life...easier said than done, I know :( I wish you luck.
Avatar f tn I do know I have communicated with women with fibromyalgia who were getting progressively worse. What amazes me about fibromyalgia and CFS is that we share many of the same symptoms as other autoimmune diseases. I could have sworn I had an autoimmune disease, but I don't. I have CFS, but I also have "autoimmune problems". For many us, at some point, we start to have a positive ANA titer. (my ANA titer is 1:640). I think Dr.
2191023 tn?1338767543 lifelong anxiety, PTSD, fibromyalgia, Sjögren's syndrome, restless legs and anaemia and all these other things that don't count as they are now managed by medication. The thought of being I'm meds for the rest of my life gets me down. And finding drs with empathy AND intelligence is also tricky here in Australia.
662361 tn?1225338107 After putting up a fight with doctors, changing physicians, and begging for answers - doctors (I sought several opinions) finally diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. I petitioned for Disability - which began yet another battle that I'm still fighting - only to find that my health continued to decline beyond what is typical for Fibromyalgia patients. Treatments I have been on include Amitryptaline (sp?
522415 tn?1242941355 I am so down right now, my spirit is not as usual. I feel very alone and not so positive today. I'm all but 31 and I don't know what this spells out for me & my life. It's robbing me at this point, I've been knocked down for some reason. I need my positve thinking back and my spirit. But I am scared....
