Avatar f tn where just slight pressure causes pain. There are no diagnostic test to confirm this diagnosis. Along with this pain, many suffer with additional symptoms such as fatigue, pain in muscles after use can make some people nearly bedridden. Some physician's think its an autoimmune disorder. Over sensitive nerves under the skin. Causes are unknown. Some have experienced these symptoms after a traumatic injury, or perhaps a stressful event. There is no cure only symptom management.
Avatar f tn At this time, there is no "cure" for fibromyalgia - one main reason being is they have not determined exactly what causes fibromyalgia. There are many thoughts and ideas on it, however, nothing has been scientifically proven/discovered. There also are no specific blood tests, scans, etc., for diagnosing fibromyalgia = there ARE certain critieria that need to be met before a true fibro diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed as having fibromyalgia, and have suffered from severe pain in my muscles for around nine years. In the past I have had positive ANA counts, but recently had a negative ANA. I have had six bouts of uveitis, with several being severe. After I had the most recent bout of Uveitis, I again had extensive blood work done. The only findings were elevated C-Reactive proteins and elevated Sed Rate.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I was just wondering what causes Fibromyalgia? Can Anxiety, Depression/Bipolar, IBS, or Genital Herpes cause it?
Avatar n tn What causes attacks of SULPHUR BURPS followed by vomiting and diarrhea lasting for hours? I have had this problem for years, but lately it has become chronic. I'm on a low residual diet (no raw fruits or veggies-only cooked or canned). It helps a little. I have to sleep propped up in almost a sitting position which is miserable. My G.I. doc doesn't know what is causing it. He ran an endoscopy, an enteroscopy, and an ultrasound and found nothing.
Monster The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) developed classification criteria for fibromyalgia in 1990 that have often been used to help make the diagnosis. According to the ACR, people can be classified as having fibromyalgia if they have the following symptoms and findings: ■Widespread musculoskeletal pain ■Excess tenderness in at least 11 of 18 specific sites known as “tender points” (figure 1) ### This article will be updated as needed on our web site (www.uptodate.com/patients).
Avatar f tn s pretty sure that I have Fibromyalgia. All of my blood tests (SED, ESR, CRP, ANA, Lyme disease, Rheumatoid Factor, etc.) have come back as normal and the urine tests for muscle breakdown and polymyocytis and gout were all negative. He then said by process of elimination he believed that I had Fibromyalgia. This is very new to me and I'm not really sure what to expect and if my symptoms are in line with Fibro.
Avatar f tn Hello~I am thinking you could have either "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" or "Fibromyalgia" They are both very close in regards to symptoms, but the CFS makes you more tired. I would certainly ask your GP about both of these and ask for any tests that would help in obtaining a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Headaches on top of the head may be caused by a variety of issues including trauma, primary headaches such as migraine or tension headaches, and other neurological conditions. Diagnosis of fibromyalgia, involves at least 3 months of widespread pain, and pain and tenderness in at least 11 of 18 areas (arms, buttocks, chest, knees, lower back, neck, rib cage, shoulders, thighs, etc). If the only symptom is headache, further evaluation may need to be done.
186737 tn?1269884660 I am wondering, does what I have described sound like what any of you have experienced with fibromyalgia? Does fibromyalgia hurt without you moving your joints? I don't think that what I have is fibromyalgia, but I can't really know unless I know what fibromyalgia feels like. Does methotrexate or prednisone make fibromyalgia better? From whatI have read, I haven't found anything that says that either of those provide significant relief. But, I don't know for sure.
Avatar f tn Some experts believe that a person does not need to have the required 11 tender points to be diagnosed and treated for fibromyalgia. This criterion was originally intended for research purposes. A diagnosis of fibromyalgia may still be made if a person has less than the 11 of the required tender points so long as they have widespread pain and many of the common symptoms and associated syndromes connected to fibromyalgia, such as sleep disorders and irritable bowel syndrome.
Avatar f tn Recently my Doctors have ruled out Lupus, MS, thyroid issues, diabetes.
Avatar n tn Your GP must refer you to a Rheumatologist to obtain the diagnosis, that is your first step. Once established and the diagnosis is fibromyalgia he will suggest you take Lyrica and probably sleeping pills if your not sleeping well. DON'T take the medication its better to deal with fibro naturally with supplements, diet and exercise. Once I realized their was no help out there I sat on a panel with 8 people suffering from fibro and heard there stories.
551343 tn?1506830518 I have been sitting for days pondering on whether or not I could have fibromyalgia as I am fed up of not getting a diagnosis of MS even with positive tests and confirmed optical neuritis. Well I am more confused then ever about what it is. I have read so much stuff and there are so many different ideas about it, and specialists talking about all kinds of things. Some of which would make sense to some of my symptoms. 1.
Avatar f tn With normal MRI/ EMG/ NCV studies, possibilities that may need to be considered include infections, inflammations, micronutrient deficiencies, hormonal/ endocrine issues, vascular causes, fibromyalgia etc. I would suggest considering a detailed evaluation by an internist and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn I should mention I have a very low vitimin D level (5), and have been placed on a vitamin supplement. I am confused about the fibromyalgia diagnosis. I still continue to have elevated sed rate and CRP. I thought fibromyalgia did not cause these rates to be elevated. Also, from everything I read about fibromyalgia, the pain is intense, more like a nerve pain, and someone will hurt even if they are touched. My pain is more like a muscle pain and stiffness.
Avatar f tn I have had many symptoms over the last couple of years. Recently my Doctors have ruled out Lupus, MS, thyroid issues, diabetes.
Avatar f tn Hello, Fibromyalgia is a condition that develops over time. Before making the diagnosis of fibromyalgia it is important to rule out other diseases and conditions. Chronic fatigue syndrome, mental stress are few conditions which can mimic fibromyalgia. Muscle weakness, pain ,burning pain and fatigue are few of the common symptoms of fibromyalgia.
