Avatar m tn By staying in the tissues and away from the blood circulation, blood tests and the immune system cannot detect them. They can also live inside a host cell and trigger an autoimmune type of attack by the immune system which results in inflamed painful and swollen tissues. 4. These pathogens are found in MANY of FMS, CFS, GWI, ALS, MS,AIDS cases. According to Dr Garth Nicolson, a part-time Medhelp Expert, these pathogenic infectious conditions are present in over 70% of fibromyalgia patients.
Avatar f tn I'm very excited about this new institute ! Elizabeth Whittemore's daughter has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and that was the inspiration for Mrs. Whittemore to start this national research institute.
620048 tn?1358018235 I just found out that SEX at least once a week will BOOST your immune system...just a thought..
Avatar f tn The cause of the cold and flu is lack of sun, and therefore, decreased vitamin D in your system. This depresses you immune system. The central nervous system (CNS) controls your immune system. When the CNS is fully functioning, this ability to adapt can overcome outside stresses and keep us healthy. When it cannot keep up, overwhelming stress is like a power surge on a breaker switch. The increased demand causes the breaker to flip.
Avatar n tn You may want to consider seeing a physician who is familiar with fibromyalgia and CFS. CFS affects your immune, nervous and endocrine system.
Avatar f tn Here in Saskatchewan they do 7 weeks til blood test then you see the doc 8 weeks after your treatment. So, anyways, do you think my immune system is having a harder time than ever because of the RAI? I do have fibromyalgia and vit B12 deficiency as well, so my immune system isnt that great to begin with. I don't know what my dose was, just was told that it was higher than the usual dose because my type of thyroid is hard to treat.
Avatar f tn The natural way to allergy relief from your chiropractor is to release the stress (subluxations) on the nervous system so your immune system can function better and a lot more efficiently. Chiropractors remove those subluxations in the spine which are placing stress on the nervous system. When your body has these stresses removed it begins to naturally defeat those allergy causing chemicals you are subject to in your daily environment.
4548110 tn?1362307394 Winter is on its way and with it often comes a plethora of ailments like colds and flus. Now is the perfect time to start boosting your immune system to prepare for winter. The body's immune system is affected by many variables such as diet, sleep and health conditions. The one variable we can always control is diet.
Avatar f tn For me it was, but for others it could be anything that triggers it, since it is an Immune System Disorder (my belief) any thing could set it off. Thank goodness now that Rheumatologists will see us. Think of Fibromyalgia as Arthritis, but in the Muscles, instead of the joints....yep. A huge part of the population have the Epstein Barr Virus and dont get Fibro, but i did, so it comes down to YOUR Immune System and how IT responds to trauma.
148532 tn?1216640562 Dr Dietrich, can you tell me your take on Hep C and Fibromyalgia? I have both and believe there must be a relationship. Also The fibro has tripled in intensity after treatment, any ideas on how to kick it back down?????
Avatar f tn At the moment there is little evidence that the XMRV virus actually causes the most obvious signs and symptoms of FMS. If this virus is similar to other retroviruses and causes immune system problems, then your symptoms may actually be caused by other co-infections or opportunistic infections that are present because of immune system problems.
910915 tn?1340676849 Immune system far more down last 2 years than ever before. Sick with throat infection at the moment and taking antibiotics (2nd course, day 7 overall). Took cold and flu tabs this morning but barely impacted pain level even after 1.5 hours. Waited more then took 2 ibuprofen then four hours then 2 cold and flu tabs again. Ibuprofen/paracetamol combo did eventually work together. I shouldn't have to take this much though.
Avatar m tn One way is to avoid common triggers, foods and actions that can weaken your immune system such as coffee, stress and anxiety, over-the-counter and prescription medications, acid overload, sugar, alcohol, tobacco smoke and lack of sleep.
1396846 tn?1332459510 So I read in one of the posts that Quix said boosting your immune system is not good for people with MS. My question is, will orange juice cause to much of a boost to your immune system? I have been on a really big orange juice kick lately, not sure why but can't seem to get enough. I know that taking Vitamin C tablets can be bad but is orange juice? I know it has Vitamin C but is it as much as what you would get in a Vitamin C supplement. I hope this makes sense, I am in a fog today.
Avatar m tn That's the one thing I haven't done yet, I reckon that will be next.
Avatar f tn Researchers have found that sugar, even just 1 teaspoon, impairs your immune system by 50 percent for up to a few hours after consumption. And if you eat a little bit of sugar now and then throughout the day, your immune system will be impaired by 50 percent ALL DAY LONG! At lectures given back in the ‘70s and ‘80s, pioneering University of Alabama nutrition researcher Professor Emanuel Cheraskin, M.D., first explained sugar’s hold on the immune system.
Avatar f tn When I get sick with a cold, or any virus that invades my body, my immune system attacks it and I get better. Because I have had HepC for so long, and my immune system has constantly been trying to battle it, doesn't that mean that it has not had the same strength to battle other illnesses at the same time? When I look back, before I knew I hade HepC, everytime I even got a cold, it took me about 2 to 3 weeks to get rid of it and everyone else in my family was over it in 4 to 5 days.
Avatar m tn t think it is a good indicator of the overall health of your immune system. Everybody responds differently to the virus and while a person with a weakened immune system would likely have a bad outbreak, a bad outbreak does not indicate a weak immune system.
Avatar n tn I disagree with the definition of "autoimmune" --- if our immune system was attacking our bodies, I think we would be dead and we wouldn't have different types of autoimmune diseases. I mean our immune system is very powerful. I know of two physicians who agree with me on this. Anyhow, the fact is that 29% of fibromyalgia patients and 25% of CFS patients do have a positive ANA titer (which indicates an autoimmune disease).
Avatar n tn hi not to sure with the faldaprevir ,my hubby on wk20 with 4wk to go he on triple tx using teleprevir, but yes it does weaken your immune system and was told by hep doc to make sure you eat well, plenty of fresh food and fresh food, i know it is hard when appetite goes but try to eat little but often also because hubby is nearly 62 he was advised to have the flu jab also try to get some fresh air and exercise each day that will boost your system.
