1759457 tn?1315090067 Is there a "test" for fibromyalgia? If so, who checks or diagnoses it? I do not have a current doctor at all, and would like to know who to see. I have all the symptoms.
Avatar n tn My cocktail was a daily dose of 16 aspirin, Mobic, antidepessants for pain, valium, and a few other things, and that cocktail still didnt work for me. Let me know if you find one.
Avatar f tn As time has passed and I have done my own research ( as if I am a medical person ) I feel like my symptoms are more in the arena of Fibromyalgia. My body hurts constantly and I am losing concentration and seem to be in a "fog" at times. My menstral cycle has stopped, it has been over 1 year since I have had a cycle. I am 44 years old! I am becoming more and more anxious and I am starting to feel depressed. I am an extremely happy person what is happening?
Avatar n tn I have been having swellings under my arms for two months now,i visited a gyneocologist 2 weeks ago and he placed me on antibiotics for 10days, with the hope that the swelling will stop but it hasn't. I have been experiencing backpains and funny feelings in my arms. I also have an history of fribroidernoma and a lumpectomy was carried out.

Avatar f tn Several people I know, myself included, have fibromyalgia and associated pain. Mine does not seem to be as severe as the others. Some of my friends are quite miserable--one extremely so. She has been out to California a couple of times for help, she has had to quit work, she is extremely depressed, as is her husband as their life has drastically changed for the worse. My friends are on Lyrica and each on some form of pain medicine.
735919 tn?1236448149 Lyrica is not an antidepressant and it personally did not work for me, but everyone is different. It is a shame your insurance co. won't cover Cymbalta when it is working. Isn't there something your doctor can do to have the insurance co. cover this medication? I would call the insurance co. and see if there is anyway around this.
Avatar m tn how i cure myself fibromyalgia without medicine....? it may happened after using 6 months antidepressant and live without work.......please please help....
Avatar f tn It's important to remember, though, that everyone is different, so what may work for someone else with fibro may not work for you and vice versa. Sometimes it is a lot of trial and error between you and your doctor to determine the right combination of meds/therapies, etc. for you. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn I have had numerous test from a cat scan on my lungs, MRI on my brain and neck to a doppler test on my calf and neck all kinds of blood work up and everything comes up negative which is a good thing but because I was diagnosed wtih Fibro over 11 years ago that want to assume it's that. My symtoms are cramping and muscle spams so strong that I can hardly walk at times and I am unable to use my left hand or close my hand at times into a fist.
Evillady When I had troubles with swallowing, they did an ultrasound on my thyroid and blood tests too. Found that my thyroid level was too low and put me in meds and it made it better. On a less pleasant note, my friend had the same issue, had the same testing (she's 23) and found stage 4 thyroid cancer. I suggest getting checked out soon. I never mess around with that stuff.
Avatar f tn Absolutely!! U need to find a Dr. in your area that is knowledgeable of Fibro. and get tested.
Avatar n tn Hi I was diagnosed about 6 years ago with fibro and I have all the fun stuff that seems to go along with it such as irritable bowel syndrome, in the last year I have become completely heat intolerant and I am literally dripping wet at work after just one hour and I work in an air conditioned building, I sweat at home, at night sleeping. I am absolutely miserable.
4861077 tn?1360159739 This may not have anything to do with the fibromyalgia and may be due to carpal tunnel or tendon problems. If you work and have a repetitive job, your hand and wrist problems may be because of that. Your doctor will be able to check out your hands and determine whether nerve conduction tests would be appropriate to find out if there is any carpal tunnel problems.
Avatar n tn I got to spend a short time in Florida the last 2 winters and I found it very agreeable. My husband and I plan to spend 3 months in Florida this winter. I don't know if summer in Florida would be good for me, since really hot weather and high humidity bother me as well.
Avatar f tn Iam a mother with 2 young children and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 4 years ago. Since then I have been suffering with extreme pain that never lets up. I am curious if anyone else has ideas on which medicines work better for pain. I also suffer from depression and anxiety issues. I also have difficulty sleeping, I feel so alone, because neither my family or friends understand my problems. They think I do not really have medical problems. I appreciate if anyone replies!
Avatar f tn I am not a diabetic nor any problems with my sugar levels, it's always at a normal level (79/80) I weight 125 lbs. and I'm five foot four and I'm 51 years old. I don't use alcohol nor street drugs of any kind. I read to keep up,on new info for Fibro as often as I can, but slack a bit due slack at times. I live alone as my daughter is grown, married . I've been to foot Dr, she didn't do anything for me. Do you know what I can tested for because of this foot problem?
Avatar n tn For the last year and a half I have been having a lot of issues with the fibromyalgia. Back in August of 07 I started stumping, loosing my balance and falling. Back in October I fell and broke my right leg. My question is loosing your balace, falling, etc. part of the fibromyalgia.
415098 tn?1214860436 They now know that people with fibromyalgia have pain to the touch in specific spots on their body... this aides in diagnosis. Your doctor can identify if you have problems in enough of these areas to warrant a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, especially since you've already had the CT's, etc. Google the words "Fibromyalgia and tender points" and you should find a few web sites that talk about this in more detail. God Bless!
Avatar n tn Complaints of fatigue and joint pains are, unfortunately, very common. fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by muscular aches and pains, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. It is much more common in women, and it can be debilitating. Many conventional medical doctors do not think that fibromyalgia exists. In fact, many patients who believe they have this condition are often derided by their doctors.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and I have severe muscle pain and stiffness. I was wondering if anyone could tell me any kind of medicine that might help? Everything I have tried so far didn't help at all......

Avatar f tn I have Fibromyalgia and can only work three days a week with days in between and have to sleep 12 hours and two short naps during the days off. This year if I do too much during one day, my upper back spasms into a neck/shoulder pain spasm and causes migraine, and I am bedridden. The only thing that provides relief is a hot bath and codeine and 2 muscle relaxants and one gravol. It has only been that bad for one year.
Avatar f tn You know all the doctors always want to put people on antidepressants for Fibro but I've yet to hear that they work at relieving the pain. I know several people like yourself is on something but they still have pain and the numbing and tingling. Have you been offically diagnosed. It sounds like you are one of the lucky ones that its mild, of coarse nobody should have to deal with this at any degree. All that I listed above is what I have experienced.
1399618 tn?1286469531 Other than my legs going numb and some joint pain, however I also have psoratic arthritis and psoriasis which I use Hemura for and it works for me for the most part. Any suggestions, help would be so greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, all that my doctor tells me to do is Exercise, and it's not working ( I don't really think she knows about Fibromyalgia). I was wondering if you could tell me anything that would help with my fibromyalgia symptoms. Avatar f tn My sed rate is also high but RA and Lupus test came back negative. Doew this sound like arthritus or fibromyalgia? Any comments would be greatly appreciated This discussion is related to fibromyalgia with inflamation.
Avatar n tn I have fibromyalgia and was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia after many years of suffering with severe pain. I still have pain all the time. It is hard to get of bed some days.
Avatar n tn In 2012/13 my fibromyalgia was at its worst. I had pins and needles down my left arm constantly like a million ants crawling on my skin. I had such pain in my arms and legs that if someone just knocked me it hurt. I could not even walk from my lounge to my kitchen without crutches. I went to the docs/hospital who all did not or could not help, the meds did nothing.
