Avatar n tn I have gained weight and lost so much muscle. I am so motivated to lose weight but nothing works. I have turned to a vegan lifestyle, walk 2.5 miles a day, religiously count my calories, and drink at least 48 oz of water a day if not more. I lost 1 pound in 2 weeks!!! Can anyone relate to what I am going through and give me some helpful advice...please???
1066531 tn?1254969334 I’ve been working out for many years now, and i want to know how I can tone my body better without losing a large portion of weight, mostly my chest and midsection? I’m 6ft 198lbs I would like to be around 195 but in much better “shape”. My diet ***** and i’m trying to work on it, but I work out at the gym 2-3 times a week lifting weights and running. I dont run a whole bunch though, would that help my problem or will that just make me lose wieght?
Avatar n tn What is your diet like? You'll need a lot of protein, calcium and an above average calorie intake. Give us an idea of what you eat in an average day. Also to bulk up you want to totally exhaust the muscle. Lift as much weight as you can (ALWAYS tighten your abs when lifting and engage your pelvic floor -the muscles you use to stop the peeing- to protect your low back). You can do fewer reps, but with more weight and stop only when you can't take anymore.
Avatar n tn It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms. Besides helping with tenderness and conditioning muscles, regular exercises can also boost energy levels and help with sleep. Please do not stop exercises. You may feel discomfort initially but you will get a great relief gradually.

543152 tn?1214312062 She is using Tramadol for pain control and recently had an evaluation in physiatry with an infiltration at C5-6 and C6-7 and has more of these injections planned at the Institut of Physiatry of Québec.
Avatar n tn If you are wanting to loose weight rather than build more muslce I would drop down on the weight you are lifting for your strength training and do more repetitions that way you are still working your muscle but not bulking up so much. Cardio helps maintain your weight so I would recommend more strenth training than cardio but if you are worried about running building up your leg muscles you could do your cardio on an elliptical machine or a stationary bike. Good luck!
Avatar m tn BTW. I used to be a personal trainer. If you are weight training for 2 hours a day and concerned with diabetes, I'd change your split and do about 1 hour a day. After an hour of heavy weight training, your testosterone will lower, and cortisol will raise to give you energy. Cortisol screws with insulin, and raises glucose levels. So if you eat a revovery meal after with carbs, and that cortisol is still in your systems, it will spike blood sugar.
Avatar m tn Give it some time. It took me a while to lose the weight I gained on Paxil, but frankly, I've gained some of it back because I went back on antidepressants. Cardio is important for losing weight and goes along with weight training -- you can't weight train long enough to build muscle if you're not also doing cardio to strengthen endurance and the heart. Athletes usually alternate the two. So if you're not doing any cardio, adding it should speed this along.
Avatar f tn I have had fibromyalgia since a near fatal car accident 10 years ago. I am currently on Celexa and Methadone, and I have gained about 35 lbs. and I can't figure out how to stop it or why it is happening. My pain management doctor is a neurologist, and he just says it is a combination of the meds, menopause, not being as active, but he is not a diet doctor and his main concern is my pain. Is there another combination of meds that doesn't do this?
Avatar f tn My husband and I need to loose weight. I am 28 I have fibromyalgia and am carrying about an extra 75 pounds. My husband is 31 he weighs 327 and most of it is in his belly. He slipped 2 discs at work and also has a mucoid degeneration on his ACL. I really am worried about him, all that extra weight cannot be good for his back. Plus he has high blood pressure, and the dr is pretty sure he has sleep apenea. I am worried and want him to get healthy.
Avatar m tn Lots of low impact cardio. Try spin class. I weight 165 lbs and burn 700 calories in 45 minutes at flywheel.
Avatar m tn I exercise 5 days a week and have for 25 years straight without a blip, weight training and cardio (more weights than cardo) I've never had any problems like this before and don't have any other issues suchs as back, joint, respiratory, or cardio problems. I'm allergic to NSADs so unfortunately so I can't take asprins or ibuprofens. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
358699 tn?1297646442 I have fibromyalgia like painful, stiff muscles specially around my chest cage, skull and foot soles. Can anyone tell me effective cure for this?
Avatar n tn Sometimes pain relievers even otc nsaids are prescribed as well as antidepressants. Stretching is very important, massage can be incredibly healing, heat, ultrasound and posture training are all utilized as well. Could you see an orthopedic surgeon? And I have to ask if you've looked into fibromyalgia?
1157811 tn?1263831494 Then you can start bending and stretching and do not continue if you experience pain. Weight control and achieving normal BMI in most of the cases reduces back pain completely. If you have chronic pain it is better for you to follow up with an orthopedician before you start any routine physical activity. Take care!
Avatar n tn Here I am with all these symptoms that I never ever had-extreme tiredness, weight that I put on during my pregnancy and it wont come off(20 pounds still to lose) -increased level of stress, hardly any sleep, abdominal intermittent pain with no obvious reasons, headaches, irritability and nervousness-my labs are fine,TSH and T4 as well,no signs of any distress except slightly lower Fe than usual(still within normal range) and I am experiencing menorhagia and pronounced PMS -which I never had before I
531852 tn?1226026411 Is sure sounds like Fibro. And yes stress will bring it all on with a fury!! Try to control your stress the best as possible which I know is impossible. I went through a few years of sickness with my father and it was just a bad time all the way around. I'm 30 and have been diagnoised for 12 years. The best advice I can offer is to allow yourself to feel what you feel. Don't think you are crazy, I think acceptance of Fibromyalgia is key to living the best that you can.
Avatar n tn hey so recently I've been doing intense circuit training, for core and legs, and I was wondering if any of you know the BEST circuit that helps lose weight and tone.
Avatar n tn Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day to provide your body with the essential minerals and nutrients needed for healthy weight gain before training. Fruits and vegetables contain glucose, which will provide your body with the necessary energy for a successful workout. In addition, the high fiber content in fruits and vegetables will prevent constipation that may occur when eating large amounts of carbs and proteins.
