1681250 tn?1304915166 We are very poor and my husband got a back tax refund allowing us to purchase a treadmill and a Gold's Gym Platinum Smith Machine which allows an extensive amount of ways to build with large amounts of weight. I am back at it every single day. On the treadmill and lifting and I am happy, my depression greatly lessened, my obesity fading, my strenghth growing, chronic pain much less, flexibility returning, more self esteem, and atrophy fading.
Avatar n tn A couple of weeks ago both of my legs began to bother me. They were tight and achy. I have been weight lifting for a few months now and have been doing the elliptical at least 3-4 times a week, usually for about 45 minutes- 1 hour. At first, I thought my leg issues were due to that. I havent done the elliptical in 2 weeks. I saw a chiropractor and since last thursday now, my hips have been bothering me very badly.
Avatar n tn I have continued with stretching and light weight lifting, but it's a real change. The Neurontin really calms the nerve symptoms, and I have been able to reduce the dose over time). Hang in there.
Avatar m tn For the last few months I have had near constant tingling in my shoulders, my forearms hurt and some leg weakness When I workout or go to the driving range the day after my arms feel very fatigued and I feel a bit out of it. I am unable to sleep either because I am worrying about this or this is part of the disease process. More to the story, I recently tested positive for hsv1 and hsv2. I was only tested because I was dating someone that was hsv2 positive.
2015036 tn?1333001388 I don't have the pain usually associated with fibromyalgia, and from a look at my MRI's-I have only a mild case of MS. That said, it seems like my doctors are associated all my symptoms to MS, and I just don't think it can be that simple... I have a few symptoms I haven't reported to my doctor yet, because I am having a hard time with describing the problems accurately. (Bear with me, while I try.) I choke on my food a lot. It's very frequent...
Avatar n tn Other symtoms include parasthesis (pins and needles, knives and daggers). Lots of muscle pain and tightness so as to restrict flexibility. Began feeling better...so attempted to swim. After day 3 of swimming, I couldn't go anymore. It is like the muscles wouldn't work. Fatigue appears to be cumulative. The muscle fatigue doesn't feel like fatigue, it is more like they just don't work. Stairs are a real bear when I am like this, although I am not breathing hard. 15. Nov..
Avatar n tn I suspect I have some sort of inflammatory condition or disease, and wondered if perhaps someone might read my story and recognise anything and advise me accordingly. I wonder if I have Sjogrens, Fibro or Polymyalgia. About a month ago, completely out of the blue I woke up with incredibly stiff and moderately painful shoulders and upper arms.
Avatar n tn The staff at the hospital I was going to for a clinical trial, suggested that I get growth hormone shots for the Fibromyalgia and that one of the side effects would be weight loss. Does anyone know of a program I can check out in my area? Or one that would allow me to do the program on my own after an initial visit? If you do not want to post an answer here, you can send me an email directly at jm.***@****. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
Avatar n tn for two years, and from the beginning, he hasn't lost ANY weight! And his doctor had him taking 1000mg AM, and PM. He is diabetic. I think you changing what you're eating, the amount you eat, and walking more often is the reasons why you loose weight! And also, it is VERY, VERY unhealthy to loose 19LBS in 1 week! If that's what is happening you should eat more Cal's! I've never meet a doctor who would be OK with ANYONE losing that much so fast!
Avatar n tn Continue to work out, eat sensible, (not late at night) drink lots of water, and watch as the weight rolls off.
975514 tn?1325001538 In addition to the community here, MedHelp also offers tools to help you and your doctor in your road to wellness. Fibromyalgia and CFS can be so intricate and can have so many different symptoms. Due to this, it is very helpful that MedHelp offers health trackers for us to utilize. We can track our progress and especially our flare ups. Below are just a few trackers that I find useful. • CFS/FMS Tracker - http://www.medhelp.org/land/health-trackers • Pain Tracker - http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn I have gained so much weight but this past year it has been bad. I was exercising and eating healthy and can't loose a thing. One pound would be nice you know. I was taking yoga 3 times a week, kick boxing and water aerobics 2 times a week. The doctor said I had to do cardio 7 days a week. Well speaking to real personal trainers they said every to her day. So, I kicked it up to biking 3 miles every other day.Still nothing! ! ! I have been trying since December and it is June now.
Avatar n tn During the weight gain, I craved food like crazy but still had a moderate diet and performed strenuous weight lifting 3-5 times per week. After going off of this med extremely slow... (Over the course of 2 years, starting at 150mg-75mg-37.5mg) I started to lose weight. During the past 2 years, I worked out 4-7 days a week weight lifting.
Avatar n tn high blood pressure (weight gain does not help this), high cholesterol, osteoarthritis in my knees and feet, hypothyroid (medication did not stop the weight gain), and now fibromyalgia. I feel terrible, achy and tired and in pain every day. I could care less about sex. Everything is very dry and it's uncomfortable, plus the extra weight. I'm depressed. I don't feel good and I don't look good. I wish I had some answers. Doctors look at me like I'm just a lazy, fat old lady.
Avatar n tn I went today for my first week weight check and my second shot.....my weight loss for my first week is 9.5 pounds!!!! Anyone else using Phentermine and B12? I would love to hear how other people have done on these meds. Good Luck to everyone trying...I want to hear your story!
541465 tn?1219431486 So I suggest, drink lots of water to flush out the water weight, and start a reguar workout regime of cardio and weight lifting/body sculpting every other day.... Plus, workingout will help you resist temptation to use since youll be busy and have your mind active. I wouldnt suggest getting off methadone, just so you will lose weight.... Yes, you will lose it.... but take it from one whos seen how bad methadone withdrawl is-its a *****....even after months of not using it. And then....
Avatar n tn I had a friend who was in her 50's and she agained alot of weight and fast . She too could not find the solution untill one dayI think it was her apendex acted up and she had to have it removed. When they went to remove it the doctors were surprised she had a huge sack full of fluid. They removed the equvelant of 2 large jugs of milk from her tomack. It turns out the ultrasound did not pick it up because it was fluid so it did not show.
Avatar n tn i have been on 225 of effexor and it has helped me alot but the weight gain has been horrible. i crave carbs and feel hungry alot. but i tried goin off the effexor and had bad bad withdrawls. i took my time too. any ideas?
Avatar f tn I live alone, I have muscle problems and lifting a pot, plate, cup causes muscle spasms, so I can't cook, and I really hesitate to lift a plate or cup (even a plastic cup because the water is heavy). I now am very fatigued, so also lack energy to prepare anything, shop or even eat. Besides fibromyalgia, I now also have low thyroid, low iron, borderline kidney, low bp (87/56), low body temp (36.2C). I also have GERD. Any suggestions? I'm really stumped.
483733 tn?1326802046 It has taken quite a long time and a lot of pain and fatigue but I finally got results of all my testing and appointment with the Rheumatologist Specialist in Toronto. He says my blood work is still progressing but that it and my symptoms are leading him to feel I have Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. He has started me on Plaquenil (an anti-malarial) that should hopefully start working on my inflammation, pain and fatigue within a few weeks and hopefully by the time I start my new job.
Avatar dr m tn Everything is fine until they go into deep sleep, when all the muscles (including the throat and tongue muscles) relax, and the tongue falls back and obstructs breathing. At this point, one of three things can happen: 1. You can wake up immediately to light sleep or completely awake, wondering why they are suddenly awake, 2. You can stop breathing for 1-9 seconds and then wake up to light sleep or completely awake, choking, coughing or gasping for air, with your heart pounding, or 3.
Avatar f tn Usually by morning, once I flex them enough they loosen up. I did start doing light weight lifting to give me more strength and I think thats when the pain in my fingers and hands started up. I don't grip the weights at all. I notice to when I do push ups I have alot of pain in my wrists. I'm not sure what is going on.
Avatar f tn Needless to say, I became dependent on the pain killers and since the surgery I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia too. I'm afraid I'm as much dependent on the mood lifting aspects of these drugs as the pain relief. I feel so wretched and worthless. However, I do want to get off of them and be a better person. I'll deal with the pain in other ways and am actively pursuing that now.
Avatar n tn After several months of yo-yoing between 50 and 100mg daily, I decided that 75mg worked well for lifting my mood. However, it did very little for my insomnia, and I was feeling very lethargic. My sleep cycles have become increasingly more disturbed, and I have reduced my responsibilities accordingly and in these last few months have attempted nothing.
Avatar n tn Recently I brought my concerns to my doctor, and he switched me to paxil, and tested me for a few fibromyalgia trigger points. I have been on paxil (20 mg) for just a few weeks, but I have not noticed any sleep-pattern improvement. I'm wondering if a switch from zoloft to paxil can actually be expected to help with the increasingly worse sleeping problems. Also, I'm wondering about the possibility of fibromyalgia.
Avatar n tn I have fibromyalgia, I take ibuprofen. Ibuprofen gives me acid and heartburn, Prilosec and others give me PVCs. I just gotta decide which one I want in a day!
783662 tn?1236365847 He told me to mindful of the symptoms and of MS and to be careful when driving, walking, lifting, etc. This Neuro that I have seen once and will see in April told me that he thought it was not MS and perhaps Fibromyalgia and I explained to him that I had been dx with that about 3 years ago but that several new symptoms had come up in the last year and told him what my other Dr had said. He was the one I mentioned earlier about sort of looking at me well more thru me.
Avatar n tn Weight lifting can put a lot of pressure on your joints. Make sure your doing it correctly. Also, if you are forced to stop don't feel like the end of the world. I might have to quite swimming because of breathing issues and other issues. I'm sure you still will be able to, just with caution.
Avatar m tn I am certain that the CSA was caused by nerve damage in the cervical and/or thoracic spine that was a result of a repetitive sports injury (swimming) and compressive forces from weight training, although imaging cannot substantiate this it does show that I have degenerative disc disease in the lower cervical spine and also at T7-8. When I do any sort of heavy lifting during the day I experience complete breathing cessation when falling asleep at night.
